Monday- Today I read an article about a sixteen year old girl who was raped. The girl was said to have been walking in a park when she was attacked. The attacker was walking behind her for a while until he put on a ski mask. He then proceeded and pulled her into some bushes while holding a gun. Then the suspect raped her and took off. The next morning a seventeen year old was arrested. He did fit the suspects description and was taken into custody. The police are sure they have the right suspect.
This was a weird article because you never hear about teenagers raping teenagers. I think that the girl was not raped that she wanted it but got mad her boyfriend. She then probably told police that he raped her.
I learned that teenagers are also willing to rape other teenagers.
Monday- Today I read about Authorities say 12 members of a Southern California ring that illegally sold millions of dollars of pot through medical marijuana dispensaries are behind bars and facing federal charges. Federal court documents unsealed Friday name Joshua John Hester as the alleged ring leader. He was arrested Friday at his West Hollywood home. Federal agents served two arrest warrants in Los Angels County and five in San Diego, rounding up 12 people. Two dispensaries owned by Hester are among 14 clinics and collectives raided by local law enforcement in September. At one dispensary, agents found two secret rooms behind a moveable bookshelf where pot was being illegally grown. I Think it’s just funny what people do with drugs and how they use their imagination to do things. These people had it good for a long time and the new laws were giving them a good break that’s what I think so they pursued what they wanted and sucks they got caught up.
monday- Many scientists believe that humans have color vision that is generally consistent across populations and cultures, and that there are evolutionary reasons behind the constancy. Some people really don't see the color red in the way that most do. About 8 percent of men have trouble differentiating between certain colors; less than 0.5 percent of women have this problem, according to the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Research is done to compare and contrast how animals and people see color in the world. One idea about how color vision derived in humans is that it helped early human ancestors spot red berries among green foliage in the wild. Scientists analyze and examine cones and rods in the retina, to help understand how humans see color.

In today's news I read about a police in Northern Ireland said Saturday that they suspect a roadside bomb that exploded in a border county was a lure, designed to draw them into the area. District Commander Chief Alaqsdair Robinson said in a statement that the explosion on a road leading to the village of Newtownhamilton caused significant damage to both the road and a nearby bridge. There were no reports of injuries, but the surrounding area was closed and police were asking people to stay away. They believes that police officers were the target, and that the bomb was placed in the area in an attempt to injure or kill them. The five people detained by police are still being held for questioning in the Republic of Ireland. They can be held up to 72 hours without charges. The incidents come ahead of "Orangeman's Day" on Monday. The holiday also called "The Twelfth“ is celebrated by Protestants in Northern Ireland to commemorate the Battle of Boyne in 1690. Because of the sectarian nature of the holiday, celebrations have sometimes been marred by violence in the past.
MOnDAY-- Mark Niver, from drag racing, has died from a crucial car crash. Niver was 60 years of age when this horrible incident happened. He has had a wonderful twenty years of racing under his belt though. His parachute deployed, making him crash. after the parachute dismembered itself from the back of the car he was able to slow down. this didnt slow him down enough though. It didn't slow him down enough to save his life. Loved ones and fans are devastated. i think this is the risk they take as drag racers everyday. It still sucks that he lost his life, and i wish his family the best best of luck. Hopefully we won't have anymore crashed throughout the year.
This morning I read about a foster care advocate who is guilty on theft charges. Virginia Prieto Kelly has been helping Spanish speaking foster parents for years. Four years ago she won a national award for public service. Kelly is being accused of keeping toys in her home that were supposed to go to foster children. Kelly faces a possible sentence of up to five years in prison on September 3rd. 12,000 toys that were given to the Latino Foster Parents Association by Marine Corps, Toys for Tots program were supposed to be donated that same year, but they were not. Kelly had toys in her house that added up to 375,000 dollars. In the beginning of the investigation, Kelly told investigators that she had no toys in he house to begin with. The next day she was seen with loading boxes into a storage unit. Investigators then asked to search the until and she refused. Once investigators forced through, they found all the toys. testified that she didn’t sell any items. She said she kept the toys to distribute them later, in case donations dried up.
I am pretty positive that Kelly did not take the toys for the reason she would distribute them later in case donations dried up. If that was Kelly's reason for keeping the toys, she should have said that since the beginning. Kelly is not facing jail time, when she is an elderly woman, who should not be in that type of environment. I think this story is just sad, I feel bad for Kelly, sometimes people make one mistake, but unfortunately Kelly got caught.
Over in Belfast Northern Ireland at least 27 police officers were injured in clashes overnight , including three hit by shotgun pellets’ police said Monday . The disruption began on eve of Orangeman’s Day . The violence took place in two different parts of the city on the eve of a holiday marked by tensions between Catholics and Protestants . About 200 people rushed into the streets around 11:45 pm Sunday throwing objects and explosives . Police spokesmen , John Anderson said the injuries were though not to be serious injuries .But only because of the sectarian nature of the holiday celebrations have sometimes been marred by violence in the past . Saturday police in Northern Ireland a roadside bomb that exploded at the border caused damage to roads and a near by bridge . Chief Alasdair Robinson said that he believed that police officers were the target and that bomb was placed in an area to injure them or at least kill them .
. I think that this is all nonsense and everything should stop .
There are many provinces, regions, and states in the USA in which you could live in,and not every place is the same.Every location has its differences and problems like:unemployment, economy issues, safety, education, etc. There are also the best places to live in like Eden Prairie,Minnesota ranked first for having a low percentage of unemployment,it has spectacular scenarios,17 lakes,it is secure in the streets, and it has many jobs to offer. One unique thing about prairie is that it doesn't have a downtown like we do,they have long trips for bikes, walking, and parks. The next place is in Ellicott City,Maryland ranked 2nd,it has also a low percentage of unemployment,it has more the 8000 jobs to offer. It has an old 18th century downtown, and lots of restaurants. The foreclosure rate is one the lowest in Maryland. You could live anywhere just remember to check for the pest place.
Tuesday- today I read an article about a coach molesting a girl. The Oceanside coach was said to have had sex with a fifteen year old girl. The girl was the one who stated what had happened between them two. Officials said that the teacher had started the whole thing. The whole thing began after the coach would kiss her on the lips when there was no one around. The girl then stated that they went to two of his houses and had sex both times. The girl said that she never wanted anything to happen like that but it still did. The coach is said to getting charged for a lot of child molestation counts.
The article was good except that the teacher is just getting into trouble because the girl got tired of him. The girl stated that they had sex twice and I think that she wanted it that’s why they did it. The whole thing was probably set up by the girl just so the teacher could get into trouble.
I learned that there are scandalous teenage girls who can do the worst for adults.
tuesday- Houston Zoo employees are mourning the loss of a member of their extended animal family, after a giraffe died while giving birth. Zoo officials reported the death of Noel, a 15-year-old Masai giraffe and her calf during the delivery of her calf Monday morning. A necropsy, an animal autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death of Noel and her calf. Results of the necropsy may not be known for several weeks. The cause for the death may have derived from an unknown issue. Veterinarians will analyze and examine Noel.
Tuesday- Today I read about A young man armed with a pistol robbed a Midway-area bank Monday afternoon and made his getaway on a skateboard, police said. The man, who appeared to be in his early 20s, approached a teller at the Comerica branch office in the 3300 block of Rosecrans Street and displayed the gun shortly before 4 p.m. according to San Diego police. The employee handed over an undisclosed amount of cash, and the robber walked out of the bank and skated away. He was described as a thin man in a white shirt, black knit cap, green bandana and sunglasses, carrying a black backpack. I think that this is very unusual and unique because I’ve never heard of anyone using their getaway with a skateboard.
Tuesday-In chittagong, Bangladesh there are many ship-breaking industries.Ship-breaking is getting rid of old ships to sell their parts for money. There are many toxic substances in the ship that are harmful for the environment.Oil spills can polute costal lines and alter the air air that we breath.Breaking ships can be dangerous for workers and very hard, one guy lost his leg after a one-ton piece of steel hit him.It also contaminates the soil, and fisheries also get contaminated.Ship-breaking is increasing rapidly.
Blake-Tuesday - In today’s reading I read an article about the Colombian army killing twelve rebels. The Colombian military killed twelve Marxist guerrilla rebels in a gun battle Sunday in the central state of Tolima. Ten Colombian soldiers were killed Sunday in a separate confrontation with guerrillas from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia. The surprise attack on the FARC guerrillas was carried out by police, army and air force personnel in the nation's central mountain range. The rebel group was responsible for thirty attacks in Tolima in the past two years. The ten Colombian army soldiers were killed Sunday morning in a firefight with FARC guerrillas in Arauca state in northeastern Colombia. The rebels were trying to blow up an electric plant and opened fire when the soldiers approached. Officials say the guerrillas are involved in the drug trade to finance their insurgency. The rebels released a hostage in March, and the Colombian military rescued four captives in June.

This morning I read a story about a missing 17-year-old Ohio girl was found early Wednesday hiding in the attic of an apartment recently leased by her 20-year-old boyfriend. Abbi Obermiller disappeared June 7 after trading text messages with her boyfriend that indicated the two were planning to run away together. An anonymous tip alerted investigators early Wednesday to a New London apartment rented by Obermiller's boyfriend, identified by police as Robert "Bobby" Young, three weeks ago. "From what I'm understanding, they thought they were going to elope," Obermiller's father, James Obermiller, told HLN's "Nancy Grace" on Wednesday night. "They were going to hide out until she was 18 years old and elope and get married.“Abbi Obermiller has been charged with obstructing official police business and being an unruly child. Young was charged June 14 with obstruction of justice in the case for his failure to cooperate in the investigation. I think that this story is funny. I think teenage girls are stupid to try to run away and elope. I think they should ANALYZE the situation before they make decisions.
Tuesday - In Mexico at a business Monday morning in Albuquerque a former employ shot and killed two people before turning the gun to himself. Police Officers responded that multiple shots had been fired .Also , when officers entered the building , they examined 10 people shot and three dead , including the man to be the shooter officials said .After the incident 6 more people died and one of the victims were one of the two his girlfriend or wife . Police were continuing the investigation at this Community Center where 85 employees who were inside the building at the time of the shooting were being interviewed . But as said police had secured the neighborhoods and children were ok . I
Wednesday- Today I read an article about a swarm of bee’s. The Bee’s attacked an elderly couple in which were stung dozen’s of times. The article also stated that there have been a lot of people being stung in that area. A specialized group did try their best to get rid of them. It was also said that there are bees still roaming around there. The people are concerned that the bees might of become Africanized. If they have then the people are in a lot of danger. They also stated that the bees seem to keep stinging after loosing their homes.
This was a good article because there are a lot of people being stung by bees. In the article it stated that there were a lot of bee hives in that neighborhood. I think that the bees are going crazy because it is summer time.
I learned that bees can make a whole neighborhood stay indoor and scared.
wednesday- If you're eating non-organic celery today, you may be ingesting 67 pesticides with it (according to a new report from the Environmental Working Group). The group scoured nearly 100,000 produce pesticide reports from the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the U.S. FDA, to determine what fruits and vegetables we eat have the highest, and lowest, amounts of chemical residue. The dirtiest dozen of foods include: celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, domestic blueberries, and sweet bell peppers. Some of the cleanest foods are: onions, avocados, sweet corn, mango, and asparagus. Each of these foods derive from the soil or trees, which can contain many pesticides and insecticides due to human industrialization. The Environmental Working Group analyze and examine these fruits and vegetables for research.
Wednesday- Today I read about Lindsay Lohan has taken aim at Joan Rivers after the comedienne spoke out about Lohan's personal problems. The Mean Girls star was sentenced to 90 days behind bars for violating the terms of her probation on a 2007 DUI arrest and is due to surrender to authorities on July 20th to begin her prison term at the Century Regional Detention Facility in Lynwood, California. On July 9th, Rivers sparked a war of words by writing on her Twitter.com page, Lindsay Lohan is so dumb. Her idea of being sworn in is cursing at the judge. The star's ex-girlfriend Samantha Ronson was quick to stick up for Lohan, retaliating, Hey Joan Rivers. You have collagen older than Lindsay, pick on someone your own age, oh wait I guess people that old can't hear. I think that there was a lot of inappropriate things said to one another and they should act like adults.

This morning I read about the mayor of an upscale suburb of Dallas and her teenage daughter were found shot to death at their home. Police discovered the bodies of Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters, 55, and Corrine Peters, 19, around 7:45 p.m. Tuesday. Police say there was no sign of forced entry. Police officers went to their home after the usually prompt mayor failed to arrive at a city council meeting and did not call to explain her absence. The circumstances of the shooting are not yet known and the autopsies are not complete. Jayne Peters, a contract software developer, had served as mayor of Coppell, a city of about 40,000, located 15 miles northwest of Dallas, for the past year. She had been a council member since 1998. They lived alone 3,850 square-foot brick home with a spa and pool. The mayors husband, Donald Peters, 58, died in 2008. I think that this story is very tragic. I hope that police and investigators can figure out who killed them. They should be able to ANALYZE the evidence and solve the murders.
Tuesday afternoon in Phoenix, a FBI spokesman said there was a man and women suspected of a kidnapping a 5 year old boy from Missouri who were then arrested . The 5 year old boys name was Devon Denman , he was found Monday unarmed in the back seat of a stolen car after a high speed police pursuit in Mexico .The couple was then arrested Tuesday at Indian Bend Wash Park in the Phoenix Area . As Johnson said there was a handgun found at the scene of their arrest which was used on Mondays car chase were several shots were being fired at police .But as for the couple , the couple was being held at The Maricopa County Jail pending on a court appearance .So , I think that that’s good that they are being held because that’s just nonsense and hope they analyze the whole situation and have them kept no matter what .
Thursday- Today I read about a Stingray attack. More than 30 people found themselves screaming in pain. Two people had to go to the hospital. The stingray attacks happened at Torrey Pines and Blacks Beach, but the majority took place off the coast of La Jolla Shores. Writhing in pain, fighting back tears, for many it was not a day at La Jolla Shores to remember. 14-year-old Matt Olson showed the puncture hole on the bottom of his foot. Olson tells San Diego 6 a stingray stung him with its sharp barb. "I was just playing in the waves, and I just felt I thought it was a crab at first it just felt like a little pinch." Similar pinches sent more than 30 people under a tent. Lifeguards formed a makeshift bucket brigade to soothe the swimmers' pain. Hot water dulls the barb's toxicity. I think this sucks because it’s summer and if I have to worry about getting stung by one of these rays then I'm not going to want to go to the beach at all.
Wednesday-Beijing,China is experiencing heavy rains this season.A town in southwest China suffered a tragedy, 3 people died and 56 are missing after a torrent of water washed them all.The deluge happen July 13 in the morning at the Yunnan Province in Xiaohe Town.Rescuers responded to this case immediately, troops for rescue have found some people only the others remain lost.
Thursday-The comic book writer Harvey Pekar was found dead next to his bed at the age of 70.Harvey's wife found him next to his bed,she then called the cops at 1 in the morning. The cause for his death wasn't sure.Officers made an autopsy on the body to see what went wrong and found that he had cancer, and he wasn't the healthiest man either he had asthma, high blood pressure, and suffered from depression.Harvey wrote autobiographical comic book series called "American Splendor".
THURSDAY-- Jonathan Scott French was charged with first degree murder. There has been a past of violence with French. He has punched a 70 year-old man in the face during a road rage incident in 2005. French has also threw his ex-girlfriend against a dumpster during an argument in 1992. The judge has sentenced French to 26 years to life in prison. Judge Peter Spinetta says French is likely to spend the rest of his life behind bars. His violent past has influenced this decision. Jennifer Stark is French’s victim. They had been dating on and off for a while now, but when she received a call from another man, French flipped. He says he doesn’t remember slicing her throat so deep that it left marks on her spine, and he doesn’t remember choking her. Sparks’ kids are devastated along with many others. Her son was the one that found his mother dead on the floor. I would be traumatized if this happened to me. I would never be able to live down the memory of my mother. I think it is wonderful that they can be strong throughout this and be there for the sentencing of French. I think French would be better off spend life behind bars because he is a danger to our society and can be liable for any decisions he makes.

This morning I read a story about a man who huffed vapors from an aerosol can and caused a traffic accident in the Midway district that killed a nine year old girl last December. Romeo Dumalo, 34, pleaded guilty last month to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and admitted causing great bodily harm to Ashley Heffington, who was fatally injured in the New years eve crash. Dumalo was sentenced to sixteen years in prison. The sixteen year prison term was the maximum available under the law. The crash occurred around 9 a.m. December 31 at Sports Arena Blvd. and West Point Loma Blvd. Ashley was buckled into a rear seat in 2000 Toyota Camry stopped at a traffic light when it was hit from behind by a vehicle driven by Dumalo. Ashley died twelve days later at Children’s Rady Hospital. I think that this story is very tragic. I believe it is a very selfish thing for somebody to drive under the influence of anything.
Thursday- today I read an article about a bomb going off in Uganda. The bomb killed at least 76 people including one American. The Man was named Nick Henn and he was there to visit his friend from Invisible Children. The bomb was said to have been connected to the Al-Qaeda and were set in a couple of spots. The American was said to have gone for a visit to see some friends when he was in the explosion. The family is hoping this will make people notice more about how war’s affect everyone. The Invisible Children corporation is said to have been traumatized after seeing this happen to them. The article didn’t state whether the one who set the bomb off was even seen.
This was a good article and I hope that the contribution that people give will really help. I think that the richest people are really racist because they have not yet helped out the Invisible Children. The family must have been devastated and are going to contribute more.
I learned that people still die because of the terrorists over in the eastern hemisphere.
Friday- Today I read about A substance abuser who carried out a plan to kill his mother several days before Christmas 2008 was sentenced Thursday to 26 years to life in prison. John Nicholas Gunther, 30, was convicted of first-degree murder on June 4. According to Deputy District Attorney John Philpott, Gunther fatally bludgeoned 57-year-old Dixie Lee Larson in her Alpine mobile home because of disagreements over money and his failure to attend drug rehabilitation sessions. Gunther held a drug party at the mobile home after the killing and ordered attendees to stay out of the garage, where deputies found his mother's body under a pile of blankets on Dec. 27, 2008. I think this guy is just really crazy.
FRIDAY-- There has been a new discovery at Birch Aquarium. The very rare black squid has been spotted and brought into the Birch Aquarium for show. A family of four had seen them the night before in the water. They went on a family day for fun at the beach, and spotted the squid. At first the young son thought it was seaweed, but they found out it was black squid. There was only a handful of spottings throughout the entire 1900’s. scientists are saying that this seeing is so rare that it might be ten years before we are even able to spot another one. I think this is extremely cool that we are able to still find new creatures. I think we should let the animal run free though. it isn’t a trophy that can last for ever, it should be out mating with the other squids.
friday- Romaine lettuce salads from the Fresh Express brand are being recalled by both U.S. and Canadian food safety agencies, because the products may be contaminated with E. coli."The recall notification is being issued out of an abundance of caution due to an isolated instance in which one package of Fresh Express Hearts of Romaine salad yielded a positive result for E. coli O157:H7 in a random sample test collected and conducted by a third-party laboratory for the U.S. Food and Drug Administration," according to a FDA press release. The FDA has analyzed and examined romaine lettuce, and has recalled it. E.Coli derives from and commonly found in the lower intestine of warm-blooded organisms.
Jonathan Scott was sentenced 26 years in prison for killing his girlfriend. Scott was dating Jennifer Stark and was a nice and charismatic man, but he had another side too, Scott had anger problems. They were enjoying one romantic evening together until Scott saw a text message from another guy in Jenny’s cell, Scott got really mad that he sliced her throat with a kitchen knife and killed her. Jenny had two siblings. Stark’s family had trusted French, they feel betrayed for what he did.
friday!
This morning I read a story about the “Octomom”, Nadya Suleman’s fertility doctor. He implanted too many embryos in one patient resulting in the death of a fetus. He also failed to refer another woman to a cancer specialist after finding cysts on her ovaries. The new allegations by the Medical Board of California is ongoing negligence case against Dr. Michael Kamrava. The board said a 48-year-old patient identified only as “L.C.” was implanted with seven embryos in September 2008, several months after Suleman, 33, had embryos implanted. I think that this story is disgusting and I don’t understand how a man like that even gets a medical license.
Friday -Black jelly fish were on display Thursday at The Birch Aquarium , which the black jelly fish were collected in San Diego. A family had seen the jellies along the shore of Shelter Island the night before. The family couldn’t figure out what they were that it just looked like sea weed until they realized they were jellyfish , but the family said that there was about 10 them. But as said Jellies have been showing up in 2005 , 2007 and this year but scientist were unsure why they keep coming and going ? The Jellies were also known as the black sea nettle , they would exceed 3 feet in diameters and their testicles stretched more than 20 feet , but the ones at the aquarium were up to 18 inches . People were warned that the black jellies could carry a wallop even when they are dead. But Lifeguards in San Diego said to watch out for them now that they are know to be nearby.
So , yeah people just need to watch out now days to because I also heard that at beaches now people are getting stung by sting rays that there's a lot out to keep a watch out for sting rays as well so just keep on the look out.
tuesday !
This morning I read about a man who forced a girl into prostitution. The 16 year old girl said that the man threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. Charles Daun Hamilton of Oakland was charged by a federal grand jury in San Diego last Thursday on one count of sex trafficking of children by force, fraud or coercion. The 16 year old girl has been forced to work for him from April to June. The 16 year old also had to put pictures of her self on the internet advertising herself. The girl was arrested June 9 on El Cajon Boulevard after agreeing to perform sex acts with an undercover police officer. The teenager was nervous, and said she just wanted to do her time, but later confessed she was being forced to do prostitution.
I think that sex trafficking and sex offenders are horrible. I really hop that cases like this decrease. Situations like these can happened to anyone, and it’s a very scary situation to be in.
Wednesday !
This morning I read about a U.S citizen who got caught at the border with machine guns. A 20 year old U.S citizen was stopped at the border crossing in Andrade Saturday. The man had two machine guns strapped to his engine, tied with zip ties. Customs and U.S Border patrol stopped the guy because he had appeared nervous. Not only did they find machine guns but they found two boxes of machine gun ammunition links. The gun ammunition links were used to fashion an automated belt for the machine gun ammunition. The driver and resident of Arizona will face criminal charges will be turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Border Enforcement Security Task Force.
I do not think that people should be trying to do things like this, but honestly this is a very smart idea. I think he could of got away with it, if he wasn’t so nervous.

This morning I read about how Obama is not doing so well. California voters continue to approve of the job Obama is doing, but they don’t like the direction of the country. Voters have a lot of mixed opinions of how Obama is handling the nations economy problems. Fifty four percent of California registered voters approve of the job the president is doing, while 39 percent disapprove. In March 52 percent approved and 37 disapproved. The numbers go opposite ways when voters are asked about how Obama is handling the economy problems. 53 percent of voters say the nation is on the wrong track, while 33 percent say the it is on the right track.
I think that Obama can make the economy better, but he is not making the right decisions. He needs to make some decisions and quick, and stop sending people to war !
Friday !
This morning I read about how President Obama is figuring out a new strategy for combating HIV and AIDS. Barrack is trying to stop the spread of the virus and rotting out the inequities. The strategy is supposed reduce new infections by 25 percent over the next five years. The strategy also want to provide treatment for 85 percent of patients within three months of their diagnosis. The strategy also increases education about the virus. About 56,000 people are infected each year, this rate has stayed about the same for around a decade. This strategy also lowers new infections and relies on targeting HIV prevention efforts at the highest risk populations.
I think this strategy is cool, but Obama needs to worry about other issues that are way important. Yes, people with HIV need help, and I do think this a good idea, because If I had it, I know I would be stressing out on how much everything to treat it cost.
Friday- Today I read an article about the sex offender sweeps in San Diego. The problem was that the county was tired of these people not registering themselves. The Sheriff’s department stated that they confiscated guns or even drug paraphernalia. All the ones arrested were brought up on violations for parole or probation. The criminals have been arrested and taken to a county jail. The article also stated that the criminals were not at the address that they were supposed to have. The police said that there are more sex offenders that will be being searched for. The police are glad that they received nine people at least.
I liked this article because I think that sex offenders should have a chip after offending. The reason why is so they know exactly where they are. I think that they should also get longer prison sentencing so they wont be out on the street.
I learned that sex offenders fill prisons up so much they get released earlier than usual.
Monday-
In today’s news, the FBI has launched an investigation into a Sunday shooting involving a sports utility vehicle that was fired upon by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. Border patrol officers fired at the SUV after it was involved in an accident in El Paso, Texas then fled the scene and headed toward the Zaragoza International Bridge. Despite reports that the same SUV was spotted later at a predawn shootout. Assaults against federal police have increased in recent months since they took full control of security in the city from the Mexican military.
Wednesday- In today’s news, The mayor of Coppell, Texas, and her daughter were found dead in their home with gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities did not disclose a motive for the deaths. But Mayor Jayne Peters' home showed no signs of forced entry. Peters and her 19-year-old daughter, Corinne, were found dead Tuesday evening by officers who had been sent to do a welfare check on the family. The officers had gone to the home at the request of the city manager's office after the mayor did not show up for a scheduled council meeting.
Friday-
In today’s news, large, floating black jellyfish were spotted in San Diego Bay on Tuesday, drawing attention from kayakers and Nigella Hillgarth, executive director of Birch Aquarium at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. She visited the site and said roughly a dozen black jellies had washed ashore at Shelter Island, some as large as the lid of a trash can. They have been reported at least three times since 2005. The trend may be linked to changing conditions in the ocean, such as shifting currents, warming ocean waters or shifts in plankton availability.
