Monday- Today I read about Lady Gaga taking this year's MTV Video Music Awards by storm, winning eight awards and showing off some of her signature fashions. She won her first two awards - for Best Dance Video and Best Collaboration - before the show even started. They were presented to her on the red carpet outside the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles. She then claimed the event's first honor for Best Female Video (Bad Romance) and appeared overcome with emotion as she stepped up to the stage in a gown designed for her by late style icon Alexander McQueen. I just can’t believe this girl won that many awards. I bet the other singers are front row thinking of how to get their game up because Lady Gaga was only on the singing celebrity scene for a couple months and look what she has done for herself. She’s very successful making millions of dollars and coming.
I read about Mexico last week enacted a law to decriminalize possession of small amounts of all major narcotics, including marijuana, cocaine, heroin, ecstasy and crystal meth. Anyone caught in Mexico with two or three joints or about four lines of cocaine can no longer be arrested, fined or imprisoned. However, police will give them the address of the nearest rehab clinic and advise them to get clean. The bill was originally filed in October of last year by President Felipe Calderon, a social conservative who is waging a bloody military crackdown on drug cartels. Congress then approved the bill in April. Another reason for the ambivalence is that the new law is predicted to have little effect on the Mexican street. Police officers would rarely arrest people caught with small amounts of drugs anyway, although they would often use it as an opportunity to extract handsome bribes.

Today I read about Tens of thousands of people who are being held without charge in Iraq, sometimes suffering severe beatings in secret prisons, Amnesty International warned in a news report Monday. Amnesty estimates there are 30,000 Iraqis being held without trial. Iraqi authorities "have failed to provide precise figures," The human rights group issued its report on the heels of the transfer of up to 10,000 detainees from American custody to Iraqi control, following the official end of the U.S. combat mission in Iraq.
Monday- To day I am reading about 30,000 Iraqis being held without trial. Iraqi authorities "have failed to provide precise figures,“ they said .The human rights group issued its report on the heels of the transfer of up to 10,000 detainees from American custody to Iraqi control. The Following official end of the U.S. combat mission in Iraq. The Iraqi government had no immediate response Monday. The U.S. military in Iraq said detainees in the Iraqi judicial system are not "likely to face torture and ill-treatment. "There are no secret prisons in Iraq at all," al-Maliki said in an April 26 interview with state-run Al-Iraqiya TV. So they lied and that’s what’s wrong in Iraq they should do better. It’s a good thing that they found these prisoners.

Blake – Monday – In today’s reading I read an article about a plane that crashed in Venezuela. The airplane was carrying at least forty seven passengers and crew members. It crashed Monday morning. Government officials said that there were survivors. Twenty three people were taken to local hospitals in the city of Guayana, Venezuela. The aircraft belongs to the government owned Conviasa airline. It crashed in Bolivar state. Bolivar is in southeastern Venezuela. The plane crashed about six miles from the airport in Guayana, Venezuela. Information indicates that there were forty seven passengers and four crew members on board. Francisco Garces is the Venezuelan minister of transportation and communication. The aircraft was an ATR42 twin turboprop short haul airplane built in France and Italy.
Today I started off reading these emphasized words “newborn found alive in garbage.” An airport security officer found a newborn baby in the garbage. They said apparently the baby came in from the lavatory of an airplane that landed in the Philippines on Sunday from the middle east. Because of a mothers bad criteria the security brought the boy, that was covered in blood and wrapped in tissue paper, to an airport clinic, where doctors and nurses examined him and cleaned him up. After the doctors and nurses said that the baby was healthy they gave consent that social workers could take the baby. The social worker was angered and put out a search for the mother to be criminally charged. She said the baby would be turned over to the mothers relatives or put up for adoption.

Today I read about American Sarah Shourd left Iran Tuesday after Iranian authorities freed her from the Iranian prison where she has been held since July 2009, her lawyer told CNN. Masoud Shafii said he was with a smiling Shourd when she was released from Evin Prison late Tuesday afternoon and that bail had been posted. She was handed over to Swiss authorities. The United States and Iran do not have formal relations, and Switzerland serves as the "protecting power" for Washington in Tehran
Toni Ma'ree ; Monday -Today I read about some man in Kentucky who shot and killed five people. Saturday before the man turned the gun on himself before he shot and killed five other people. The man who killed them innocent people was identified as a 47-year-old Stanley Neace .It was said that the man did go up to a lady to use her phone and he her call the police , and that’s when he starting the shooting and going in peoples homes killing them. The mans wife and stepson are among the dead he said. But the shooting happened around midday at a mobile home community of around a dozen trailers. Officers stated that they heard a gunshot when they arrived and then later found a 12 gauge shotgun . They then found the suspect which was found dead on the front porch of his house. Also, others were also being found in two separate residences. But as said they are in processes of getting the names of these five victims and are making final family notifications.
Toni Ma'ree ; Tuesday -Today I was reading about some teen that denies a charge in a deadly car crash. The driver’s friend ,17 was killed May 28 in Sabre Springs. The 17 year old driver was accused of killing her best friend and in injuring three others in the car, and is now up to facing a charge of vehicular manslaughter with gross negligence. The driver tried to deny it and the whole accident. SO the charge of BreAnna Erickson,17 was denied and is the best friend of the driver which is not being identified because as stated she is a minor and a juvenile. But it was said that before the crash the girls were returning from Creek side Park with three boys and that the girl crossed a centerline and hit a rental truck head-on .Police believed there were no alcohol or drugs involved . But as for the driver she could admit to the charges and then be on probation, and if she goes through with it the charges would be dismissed. Until then she's to have this hearing that is set for Oct 4.
In today’s news, the chargers were defeated after a hard clinching game defeated by the Kansas City Chiefs 14-21. Luckily fans weren't to mad because they are used to they’re sloppy September beginning as always. They had set the tone early in the game with they’re strong defense and early offense running. But later on in the second quarter Chiefs rookie Dexter McCluster had made the longest punt return ever against the chargers for a 94 yard return. The punt return was setup by a fumble loss that was eventually became a touchdown three plays later.
Today I read about this infectious-disease that is unfolding in California. They emphasized “superbug” because it’s a bacteria that has been resistant to nearly all antibiotics. Sickened people are popping up all over the world but, in the U.S. only in California, Massachusetts, and Illinois. The gene is carried by hand-to-mouth so it’s a criteria to have good hygiene because the bug doesn't need your consent to infect you. The cases in the U.S. and two in Canada were all involved with medical care in India where the problem is widespread.
Blake – Tuesday – Today I read an article about Mexico capturing another alleged drug kingpin. Mexican marines captured a top leader of the Beltran Leyva cartel. Sergio Villarreal is known to Mexican officials as El Grande. He was taken in the central Mexican state of Puebla. Sergio Villarreal has appeared on the attorney general's list of Mexico's most wanted and had a bounty of more than two million dollars on his head. He offered no resistance when he was arrested in the afternoon. He was arrested with two suspected accomplices. Authorities also recovered weapons and armed vehicles in the operation. The former leader of that group was Arturo Beltran Leyva. He was killed in a shootout with Mexican officials last year. More than twenty eight thousand people have died in drug related violence since Mexican President Felipe Calderon intensified the government's fight against cartels and organized crime after taking office in two thousand six.

Today I read about South County which has had Hispanics make up the largest part of the population. Now for the first time, the trend has extended into North County- and demographers expect more of growth in years to come , perhaps changing the make up of city councils, boosting the ethnic mix of schools and increasing tensions over legal immigration and public services. Hispanics account for 46% of Escondido's population, according to the latest estimates from San Diego association of governments. The second largest group, no Hispanic whites, comes in at 44%
Wednesday- Today I read about how the Chargers are going to step their game up. I think that is exactly what they need to do because watching their first game of the season I was very disappointed with their game. I know they could’ve done better but they didn’t. If I were to critique the game I’d say it was one of their worst games. I think the main players that were playing was Antonio Gates, Meddley, and of course full back player Mike Tolbert. I hope that their first game isn’t going to reflect the rest of the season. I also read about a robber that instead of having a firearm he had a tool. Which was a hammer. That’s a random tool to go and rob a 7/11. There wasn’t anything really good in today’s paper.
In today’s news, as chargers started off their season like they usually would starting off slow and have to work from there. Chargers players Antwan Apple-white and Mike Tolbert said they will get better and that they will learn from it. It’s just one game Phillip Rivers said. He had said that they can still get off to a fast start this season. They would have to correct themselves and their mistakes. The theme going into the game opener was to try and avoid costly mistakes on the road against an eager and overmatched foe. Mondays loss to kansas city was a reminiscent of how they had started in previous summers.
Tuesday- Today I read about a guy that talks to a 15 year old girl in Mexico that he would cross her to the United States to work in a factory of clothes. The girl is older now it didn’t say her age. Now that she older she turned her self to the cops. She says that the first day for her was hard she had to sleep with 20 men. That’s the first time now imagine when the mouths passed by. She also said that she already had a list of men she had to do each day. The guys that own these girls force them by biting them, burning them, even threading to kill there family in Mexico. These guys know that the illegal girls will not go to the cops. What’s going on here is every bad its embarrassing knowing that my own raise is doing this. There should be a stop to that, FBI or something needs to take action.

Thursday- Today I read about a man that died in downtown while in custody of the San Diego Police Department. From the beginning he was complaining of leg pains and other pains but the police didn’t take him seriously. But they did take him to the hospital where the doctors let him go and said he was perfectly fine. So from there they took him into custody and while booking him into jail he past away. Shortly after 12:00. I feel as if the police were not doing there job if someone is really hurt again what are they going to do ignore the man and let this happen yet another time. This has happened before in the past but I guess nobody is changing their ways. I hope that the police officers that were being told by this man that he's not welling well that they live with this on their conscious for the rest of their life/ let it haunt them.

Today I read about the National Football League has sent a memo to all 32 of its teams, reminding players and league employees that female reporters should be treated professionally and with respect the note comes on the heels of news that the New York Jets team is investigating allegations of harassment by team members toward television sports reporter Ines Sainz. Among other things, the playbook stresses that "it is important to you and this organization that you present yourself to the media in a manner and style in which you yourself would like to be received and treated.

Blake – Thursday – In today’s reading I read an article about most of the cocaine smuggled into Australia coming from Mexico. The Australian Crime Commission said that a majority of cocaine imported into Australia over the past two years came from Mexico. They said it is because of the strong links ethnic South Americans and Mexicans have with cocaine producers in Colombia, Bolivia and Peru. The statement stopped short of naming the specific organized crime connection between Australia and Mexico. They said that they are also seeing more dispersed criminal networks. More networking by criminal groups is effectively subcontracting distribution rather than take the entire risk. Cocaine consumption in Australia is increasing. Three hundred fifty nine importations were detected between 2008 and 2009. There have been recent increases in cocaine arrests and reported use. Large seizures of the drug in recent years indicate potential expansion of the Australia cocaine market.
Thursday- Today I read about a U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service for the first time is breaking down the species of oiled birds collected alive and dead in the Gulf of Mexico. 4,676 birds had been collected; 3,634 of those were dead. Of the dead birds, 1,226 were visibly oiled. Of the dead birds, the largest numbers are laughing gulls (1,591), followed by brown pelicans (376) and northern gannets (182). Live birds are taken to rehabilitation centers in Hammond, Louisiana; Gulfport, Mississippi; Theodore, Alabama; and Pensacola, Florida. All these animals are dieing just because of the Gulf Mexico oil spill. It sucks that they have to die this way. They didn’t do nothing to the oil spill but yet the oil spill killed these birds.

Toni Ma'ree ; Thursday - Today I was reading about a missing boater Newton ,43 who was found in a shark .It was said Newton went on boat trip with his friends off Jaw Beach on New Providence Island on Aug. 29 and had engine trouble .The Rescuers who responded to their call found only three aboard on the boat who said Newton and another jumped off to swim to shore. They tried to search for them but neither were found . Until Sept. 4th a banker caught a 12 foot tiger shark that a leg popped out of its mouth as they hauled it in that’s when officers with defense forced and cut the shark open and found much more body parts. So , the boater disappeared off Jaws Beach in Nassau, Bahamas where one of the Jaw movies were filmed . But the man in the shark the boater Judson Newton ,43 was then identified by fingerprints and weren't even sure though that if the man found in the shark was alive when he was eaten or not.

Friday-Today I read about Investigators in Britain arrested five men on suspicion of terrorism Friday and promptly reviewed security arrangements for Pope Benedict XVI's trip to the island, Some news reports said the arrests involved a potential threat to the pope, who was in London on Friday, but the Metropolitan Police declined to say whether the case was directly linked to the pontiff's visit. He added, "It is also a great sadness that the authorities of the church were not sufficiently vigilant and insufficiently quick and decisive in taking the necessary measures.
In today's news I read about a Guatemalan police on Thursday were searching for a drug trafficker who initiated a shootout with police at a shopping mall the day before. Authorities would not give details on the search for Mauro Salomon Ramirez Barrios, a suspected drug trafficker. police were acting on intelligence of a drug deal to take place at the Tikal Futura shopping center in southern Guatemala City. Such transactions at malls are common, and police decided to mount an operation to snag Ramirez. When police entered the building to apprehend him the shooting broke out. One police officer and one civilian were killed. Four men believed to be associated with Ramirez were captured at the scene, along with two women who were identified as his wife and daughter.
Toni Ma'ree ; Friday -Today I was reading about these three officers who were caught in videotaping beating .Dallas , Texas are seeking for the three officers in the videotaped beating to press criminal charges. One of the officers turned a second video camera away during the incident but the other two who were in the lead chase vehicle disregarded an order to stop the chase September 5th. One of the officers said in the tape "Keep us going , I'm going to kick the s--- out of him." Randolph one of the officers was shown hitting Collins with a baton several times while Bauer used his fits and knees. In the incident Collins suffered bruises and developed blood clots and also , complained of pain. He was charged with three traffic warrants , evading arrest , resisting arrest and possession of marijuana. Randolph was terminated Wednesday for failing probation, Bauer was charged with misdemeanor assault and official oppression and felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. The officers were restricted on duty as police continued to investigate.
Friday- Today I read about a girl that I was busted with a long time ago. I seen her on the San Diego 6 news also but I just couldn’t believe it. She’s going to do time for something she didn’t do. And I think that’s really messed up plus it was her damn “friend” that ratted the situation out if it wasn’t for her I know for a fact she wouldn’t be doing any hard time. I feel really bad for the girl she doesn’t deserve this. She’s probably the nicest girl I’ve ever been locked up with and trust me most of the chicks I've been busted with are straight a** holes. If not that they talk but don’t walk. I wish her luck and I hope she doesn’t do all that time. I hope she gets out with good behavior and I also hope her time gets cut in half.
Blake – Friday – Today I read an article about a hurricane preparing to hit Mexico. Hurricane Karl prepared to hit land in Mexico around midday Friday. The center of Category three storm Karl was twenty five miles northeast of Veracruz, Mexico on Friday. Maximum sustained winds were near one hundred twenty miles per hour and it was moving west at eight miles per hour. Hurricane warnings and watches were in place on Mexico's eastern coast. Hurricane Igor had maximum sustained winds near one hundred twenty miles per hour and is a category three storm was moving toward the northwest at nine miles per hour. Its forward speed is expected to increase in the next couple of days. According to the weather agency large swells generated by Hurricane Igor will affect the Leeward Islands, Puerto Rico, Hispaniola, the Bahamas and the Virgin Islands. The swells will reach the eastern coast of the United States on Friday and cause rip currents.
Today I read about this hurricane. Hurricane warnings and watches were in place along significant portions of Mexico's eastern coast. Hurricane Karl will be hitting Mexico city on Sunday. The National Hurricane Center warned that the storm surge could reach 12 to 15 feet. Mexico is going to have issues to evacuate people living in the red zones. Meanwhile, evidence of two other hurricanes in the tropical trio churned in the open Atlantic Ocean. To summarize all this Hurricanes are going to be roaming around for 2010.
Friday- today I read about Investigators in Britain arrested six men on suspicion of terrorism Friday and reviewed security arrangements for Pope Benedict XVI's trip to the island. Some news reports said the arrests involved a potential threat to the pope, who was in London on Friday. The Metropolitan Police declined to say whether the case was directly linked to the pontiff's visit. Police said they were satisfied the pope's security plan remains "appropriate," and the pope's itinerary did not change. Five suspects arrested earlier in the day are street cleaners in Westminster. The men are ages 26, 27, 36, 40, and 50, and were taken to a central London police station. It sucks for these men I wonder what’s on there mind right now.

Friday- Today I read an article on Blockbuster Video stores. They are making less money time after time. Most video stores are jumping into bankruptcy. Meaning, they are being shut down and owned by a bank . Blockbuster workers are all loosing their jobs . Blockbuster existing for a very long time has created an impact to those who love movies and children when they see their local blockbuster closed .
This conflict is all due to movie downloads , Dvd’s and movie theatres . People would much rather prefer to have a movie of their own instead of renting one .Many people might not care or be aware of this situation ; people will not perceive into this situation until them or someone they know looses their job.
