Monday- Today I read about a guy that was accused of shooting in a school. He has a preliminary hearing scheduled today. This guy hurt about two young second graders. I think this guy must be so stupid. Why would he go to a elementary school and do this? Especially to really young kids. I think this guy is insane because after he shots two little girl in the arm he walked off and found three boys which he also shot at but he missed and the bullets hit a post. I hope this guy does a lot of time for doing something so retarded. I also read about a guy that was accused of killing his brother in law. He says it was an accident and he was trying to protect his sister from her abusive husband but I guess we will find out if he is telling the truth. I hope so.
Monday- today I read about a man who tried to hang himself when he was in jail. This man is known as the east coast rapist. One day right after he was arrested was when he tried to hang himself. It was a Saturday when he did it. He got arrested because there was an anonymous tip and DNA on a tossed cigarette butt. His name is Aaron Thomas and he is thirty nine years of age. The Saturday that he tried to hang himself, he was put on suicide watch with cameras directed at his cell and a guard standing outside of it. Because of the attempted suicide, he was taken to the Yale New Haven Hospital for evaluation but was expected to go back Saturday night.
Monday- Today I read about a man named James Repetto that’s was arrested in Yuma, Arizona. He took part in a $1.3 million phony-billing scam. He was arrested several days police had launched a search off La Jolla when he sad he was going for a swim. During the search, sea conditions were terrible. They said it wasn’t possible that someone would go for a swim especially alone. The sea conditions were stormy and the water temperatures were in the low 50s. He is now scheduled to be sentenced on March 21.
Monday-Today I read about smoking while you are pregnant, even if you don’t smoke when your pregnant just being around smokers can increases the risk of haring your future baby.Reasearchers found exposure to second hand smoke increased a non smoking pregnant women changes of having a stillborn by 23 %, and increased the risk of delivering a baby with birth defects by 13%. The scientists aren't exactly sure what levels of secondhand smoke are dangerous, but they do think the more exposure the higher the risks.
Friday- Today I read about medical marijuana. The churches want the dispensaries at least 1000 feet apart from schools/churches/ n even play grounds. They say that theirs been 9 hold ups at dispensaries in the last 6 months. Kind at the age of 18 have their medical cards. The land lord says they operate according to the law.
In today’s news it was said that police on Wednesday released a composite sketch of a man who was dressed as a woman when he tried to kidnap a 2 year old boy from his mother in City Heights. The woman was walking with the boy and his 3 year old brother in the east alley of 36th Street near Polk Avenue about 3:15 pm. Monday when they were approached by the man. He grabbed the boy by the arm and ordered the mother in Spanish to let him go, and then screamed as he released his grip and ran . The man was described as black, between 30 and 35 years old , 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 9 inches tall and 180 pounds and had a 1 inch scar above his right eyebrow. Case is still open , so , anyone with information is asked to call police or Crime Stoppers,.
Monday-
Today I read about, Marius Nejloveanu was sent to jail in January for 21 years, it was the longest sentence anyone had faced in Britain for human trafficking. The judge said the 23-year-old Romanian, together with his 51-year-old father, Bodgan, had run a sex trafficking ring like a family business. They lured several women, then aged between 15 and 23 years old, from Romania to the brothels of Madrid and Manchester, where they forced them to work as prostitutes. One of the girls was Marius Nejloveanu's cousin. Another was a relative of the Nejloveanus' business partner who pled guilty to sex trafficking. Their closest family pled ignorance to Marius' crimes and protested Bogdan's innocence. I believe that these people should get more than just a 25 year sentence and that these guys are crazy.
Monday-
Today I read about a 58 year-old woman that was found dead in her Talmadge apartment Wednesday morning after a lit cigarette caused a slow fire in her living room. The body of Betty Jean Boyd Taylor was found before noon in the kitchen of the second floor apartment on Menlo Avenue near El Cajon Boulevard. Boyd Taylor died of smoke inhalation and an autopsy is pending. Boyd-Taylor dropped a cigarette into the sofa, and the apartment filled up with smoke and heat late on Monday.

They found the 3 bodies three hours after finding him.Theyre trying to find more info on him. He failed to prove evidence twice already. He is trying hard to win the law suit but I don’t know if it will work.
Tuesday-
Today I read about thirteen adults and five juveniles have been arrested as part of an investigation into the alleged rape of a Texas girl. The 18 individuals charged thus far are between 14 and 27 years old. On Friday, the Cleveland police department announced that four students in the Cleveland independent school district had been arrested on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child under 14. They appeared Monday in a Liberty County court, in the town of Liberty, to face the charges. Police noted that some but not all suspects are students at Cleveland High School, though all those named thus far are from the town. I think that these people should get life or death.
Monday- today I read about Police in Spain found the body of missing U.S. college student Austin Taylor Bice, 22 early Tuesday The body was found after officials drained a portion of the Manzanares River near the discotheque where Bice was last seen after a night out with friends more than a week ago, said Jesus Sanchez, a spokesman for the central government's main regional office in Madrid. "We are all very upset," said Carlos Lopez Terradas, head of international relations at Madrid's University of Carlos III, where Bice arrived last January for a semester of business-course study abroad. Bice's father, an accountant, rushed to Madrid from San Diego last Wednesday and has since met several times with Spanish and U.S. authorities.
tuesday-today i read! about This time it was the intruder who called 911.
A man who broke into a house in Portland, Oregon, called police -- afraid the homeowner may have a gun.
The suspect, Timothy James Chapek, was in the bathroom taking a shower when the homeowner returned to the house Monday night, Portland police said in a statement.
Accompanied by two German shepherds, the homeowner asked Chapek what he was doing in the house.
Chapek locked himself in the bathroom and made an emergency call, police said. He said he had broken into the house, the owner had come home, and that he was concerned the owner might have a gun.
The homeowner also called the police to report that he had found a man in the house.
Police with dogs took Chapek, 24, into custody "without incident," they said. He was booked for criminal trespass.
They did not say if the homeowner did in fact have a gun.
Tuesday- Today I read about a Houston day care owner that is on "15 Most Wanted" fugitive list. Houston fire department investigators twice tried to talk to the 22-year-old Tata on February 25, the day after the blaze in which seven children were trapped inside the home day care. She initially refused and then, later that day, referred all questions to her lawyer -- the last known contact between her and law enforcement. A U.S. Marshals task force later discovered that Tata flew to Georgia on Sunday, and officials have said they believe she may have gone on to Nigeria. She subsequently was charged with six counts of reckless injury to a child, three counts of abandoning a child under 15 and four counts of manslaughter -- one apiece for the four children's deaths. Another three children were injured, but survived. Tata left the seven children unsupervised in the home day-care facility and drove off in her car. The blaze likely originated on an electric stove, which was on and had a pot on it containing oil. No other adults or day care employees were at the facility, the men said.
In today’s morning blog I read about a rape of an alleged gang. It was a gang rape on a 11 year old girl. They had threaten her and took her to a mobile home. The police right now got around 17 suspects and trying to catch any of them that really did it. This has cause Cleveland high school to lose basketball players and also lose their games. Right now the police persuade these suspects for a reason and that’s for trying to catch the ones that did it. This is a bad critique because of the way these guys rape the girl. There is a contrast in this whole situation.
Tuesday-Today I read about eating disorders that are more prevalent in teens than previously thought, and the effect on their lives can be devastating!!!!!!!!!!!!many teens have serious eating disorders. Researchers also noted that the age when patients began having eating disorders were “markedly younger” than in previous estimates. The shooting happened on march 14. The twelve year old boy called nine one one and told them that at least three people have been shot in his house. When they discovered the bodies of the boys parents they saw that they were in their fifty’s. the officers also found a nine and five year old critically wounded. They took the boy in custody but they still haven't gave any details about there evidence or investigation.
Tuesday- Today I read about how President Barack Obama with continue using military commissions to prosecute terrorists held in Guantanamo Bay,Cuba, detention facility. Some leaders and people are disappointed in this action for the fact that Obama had pledged to close the area within a year after put in office in January 2009.
In today’s new, five teenage boys were arrested at Felicita Elementary School Monday night after spraying their tagging nicknames on walls and rooftops. It was said that these were not elementary kids doing something to their campus ,but it was more organized there were five people out with just nothing better to do with their time. The school estimated the damage at $500 , as the kids faced felony vandalism charges, and were then released to their parents.
Today I read Eating disorders hit more than half million teens. More than half a million U.S. teens have had an eating disorder but few have sought treatment for the problem, government research shows statistics say 10,000 teens aged 13 to 18 don’t eat right. 10 percent happened to have anorexia or bulimia. More than half the affected teens had depression, anxiety or some other mental disorder. Sizeable numbers also reported suicide thoughts or attempts and that crazy. Phil Gaughan claims the Reverend John E. Gillespie sexually abused him from 1994 to 1997 while attending Our Lady of Calvary parish in Philadelphia, according to the civil complaint, a new sexual abuse lawsuit was filed Monday against the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, Cardinal Anthony Bevilacqua, Cardinal Justin Rigali and other archdiocese staffers on behalf of a Delaware man who grew up in Philadelphia. The lawsuit was filed in response to new information released in the 2011 grand jury report that involves Monsignor William Lynn, who is facing criminal charges for endangering the welfare of children and having knowledge about a perpetrator
Wednesday- Today I read about a 12-year-old Colorado boy suspected in the deaths of his parents and wounding of two siblings. He appeared in court in Fort Morgan Wednesday night in a closed hearing. Burlington is a town of fewer than 4,000 residents, its located near the Colorado-Kansas border. The boy called 911 on Tuesday to report that at least three people in his house had been shot. When the officers arrived they discovered the bodies of his parents. They also found his two younger siblings that were wounded. The children were taken to an area hospital and then transferred to a facility in Denver. Colorado law dictates that charges must be filed initially in juvenile court because of the boy's youth.
Wednesday-
Today I read about a fire that killed seven children at a farmhouse in rural Pennsylvania. The children ages 7 months to 11 years died Tuesday night when the fire fully engulfed the Mennonite family's two-story house in Loysville, about 25 miles northwest of Harrisburg. The parents were outside the house at the time of the fire. They survived, as did another child. The fire sent shock waves through the central Pennsylvania community. The father was taking a nap in his milk truck after making a few stops along his delivery route, Pinkerton said. The mother was milking cows in the barn. The mother went to two neighbors' houses before she could get someone to call 911, he said. She then found her husband sleeping in his milk truck and they rushed back to the home to find their home engulfed in flames and firefighters trying to put out the blaze. The children six girls and a boy were found dead inside the house. I don’t mean to be racist or anything but it’s usually the white folks that live in rural areas that tend to make real stupid mistakes; I mean think about it the father was taking a nap in his truck doesn’t he have a room in his house? Moreover, the mom was milking cows in the barn?? No one was supervising the kids? Like that’s something white folks in rural areas would do----something STUPID!
Wednesday- Today I read about a school music program that is on the chopping block! This year, there are dozens of san Diego unified elementary schools that devote about an hour each week to teaching students the basic of musical instruments . Next year there might only be one! the district’s visual and performing arts curriculum faces a $2.8 million budget this year as officials try and fill the projected $120 million whole! Under the proposed budget, 10 art teaching jobs would be cut and more than 45 music teachers. Some of who, are part-time wouldn’t return next year to the districts nationally recognizing music education programs.
Wednesday- today I read about a former television executive killing his own wife. He killed his wife by beheading her. He only got a sentence for twenty five years in prison. I think he should have gotten way more time because what he did was really cold. The sentencing of the murder was Wednesday. His name is Muzzammil Hassan. He killed her because his wife dared to file a divorce on him and said she was going to start a new better life by herself. One of the judges issued a protection order on behalf of Hassan's two children.
Today I read an article called Famers Hire Stars to sell nuts. Chinese movie star Gao yuan yuan came out in a commercial advertising an almond Tree. These farmers are trying to get artist to make their nuts famous. Thanks to Gao being their ambassador, they reached 115.8 billion last year. China and India have potential growth expectations. The pistachio industry also is advertising with MISS CALIFORNIA Arianna Asfar. China topped Canada at 17.5 billion in sales according to the U.S. department of agriculture. The agricultural people are having big business with these nut sales and agriculture is on top of the big business people.
Wednesday- Today I read about School Music Program On Chopping Block. Its talking about how dozens of the San Diego Unified elementary schools devote an hour each week to teach students there basic musical instruments and how by next year there might only be one. The district wants to cut down the musical education programs in all elementary schools except for one that does not rely on the district for funding. Under this proposed budget cut, 10 art teaching jobs would be lost and more than 45 music teacher- some being part time- wouldn’t return next year.
Wednesday-Today I read about a young Coast Guard crewman goes on trial today for a Childs death, during the annual San Diego Bay Parade of Lights that killed 8 year old Anthony DeWesse is still being used in 2 Coast Guard locations around the country. Ramos, who was riving the patrol boat that night when it collided with De Wesse family boat. He faces charges of involuntary manslaughter, negligent homicide and lesser counts. In today’s news, a man on a bicycle was killed Sunday morning after being hit by a minivan in the Skyline area of San Diego. The accident occurred around 7:30 am in the 8500 block of Skyline Drive, between Bowie Street and Green lawn Drive. It was said that a 47 year old woman was driving a Dodge minivan west on Skyline when she lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason, and struck the curb and collided with the bicyclist , who was riding west on Skyline. Police and paramedics tried to save the 73 year old victim, but who suddenly died at the scene . The man’s name was not released Sunday because his family had not been notified of the death. No one was arrested but the San Diego Police Department’s Traffic Division is investigating.
Wednesday-
Today I read about a 5-year-old California boy, missing for two years after his parents lost custody and then allegedly abducted him, was found undernourished and weighing 38 pounds. The boy, tracked down Friday, was returned Saturday evening to the custody of his maternal grandparents in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, about 40 miles south of downtown Los Angeles. The mother and son had been staying with her friends and acquaintances in the New Orleans area, and authorities apprehended her and the boy following a surveillance. The family of three had been living there for at least a year, though the couple may not have been living together most recently.
Thursday-
Today I read about the family of a former FBI agent missing since a 2007 trip to Iran marked the fourth anniversary of his disappearance Wednesday, their hopes buoyed by U.S. authorities' belief that he's still alive. Bob Levinson was last seen checking out of a hotel on Kish Island, an Iranian resort. He didn't make a scheduled flight to Dubai, where his family said he was working as a private investigator. Levinson, now 63, has missed a daughter's wedding and a granddaughter's birth since his disappearance, his wife said. His family says Levinson's private detective work on a cigarette smuggling case took him to Kish Island, a free trade zone off the Iranian coast. They insist he was working as a private citizen, having retired from the FBI in 1998, and the U.S. government has consistently denied Levinson was working for it. I think that this is insane I mean former FBI agent there has to be some kind of connection in between him being in the FBI and the people that took his family.
Thursday- today I read about Two U.S. marshals and a police officer were shot Tuesday while trying to serve an arrest warrant in St. Louis, authorities said. One of the marshals, John Perry, died, as did the suspected shooter. The second marshal was shot in the ankle and listed in fair condition after surgery, according to area police. Federal officials identified him as 31-year-old Theodore Abegg. "Our people and our partners are well trained and prepared, but it is impossible to predict when a wanted individual will make a fateful choice that results in the loss of life or injury," U.S. Marshals Service Director Stacia Hylton said in a statement. "When that happens, and the life lost is a law enforcement officer or other public servant, it is an immeasurable tragedy felt by all."

Thursday- Today I read about a women that started getting unusual migraines. People began telling her at times she didn't make any sense, she started to wonder; why were her words and phrases coming out all wrong? At first, Mosgrave thought she might be having mini-strokes, but when she went to numerous neurologists they all told her the same thing: She was suffering from a form of headache classified as a complex migraine. According to the National Headache Foundation, 23 million Americans suffer from some form of unusual migraines that could be termed complex. Although there are different forms of complex migraines, all occur when blood vessels over dilate, when there's a decrease of blood flowing to the brain, or when the trigeminal nerve, found in the brain and responsible for sensation in the face, becomes irritated. Symptoms from these migraines can range from coldness in hands and feet, to dull aches, to a loss of sensation or paralysis, even weakness and nausea. In Mosgrave's case, as well as in the case of reporter Serene Branson who began talking gibberish during a live shot after the Grammys, the ability to speak was affected.
Thursday- today I read about Ten Mexican nationals have been charged with last year's killings of three Americans. The 10 are among 35 members of the international gang Barrio Azteca. Seven of the 10 defendants charged with the consulate killings are in custody in Mexico. These arrests and criminal charges will disrupt Barrio Azteca's current operations. U.S. Consulate employee Leslie Ann Enriquez Catton, her husband, Arthur Redelfs and Jorge Alberto Salcido Ceniceros, the husband of another U.S. Consulate employee, were killed last March 13 and the ten guys that were being charged with murder are the ones that did it. I think it was about time that they got caught for what they did.
Thursday- Today I read about how China’s quake killed at least 16. It happened in Southwest China with more the 160 injured. The earthquake was a 5.4 and the after shock continued to jolt the area while rescuers tried to help others trapped.
Thursday-Today I read about the death toll from Thursdays earthquake in southwest China with at least more than 160 injured. The 5.4 magnitude earthquake hit near the border with Myanmar, it collapsed houses in the remote Yingjiang county in Yunnan province. The epicenter was 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) away from the center of Yingjiang county, which has a population of more than 270,000 and is home to several of China's ethnic minorities.
In today’s morning blog I read about the movie Rite and the priest that was in the movie. If it wasn’t for that priest there wouldn’t be no movie. This movie has a lot to do with the priest experience with exorcism. This is one of the realist exorcist movies there is right now. The priest is also saying that there is a devil and exorcism do exist.
thursday.
Today i read about how doctors are hurting childrens ears. A mother of 5 kids had her last one be diagnosed with hearing problems since he was about 10 weeks. The doctors gave her son heareing aids to help him. Though what actually happen was that everytime there was a loud noise or "thud" he would flinch. When his mother took him to his doctor he told her that she was just in denial and had to learn how to accept i. She then grabbed her son and took him to another state where she explained to this other doctors that he would turn to noices. Her son was then diagnosed with this new "sickness" named Auditory Neuropathy, witch means he could hear the sounds but his brain wasan't processing them. I think this is very important because the heareang aids he had where too loud and where hurting his tiny ears.
Friday- today I read about About a year after losing his dad in a plane crash, Matt Snoddy climbed into the cockpit for an emotional flight. His kids Charlie, age 5 and Alice, 3, were tucked in the back of the tiny Cessna and his flight instructor was seated alongside. Snoddy pulled back on the stick and they were airborne. A government investigation blamed the crash on Flight 191's pilots, who attempted takeoff from a wrong runway. The FAA administrator at the time said disasters like Flight 191 might be avoided under Next Gen, the nation's sweeping air traffic overhaul set to roll out by 2025. Memories of the crash had kept Snoddy -- a longtime private pilot -- out of the cockpit until his wife offered the flight as a gift for Father's Day. "She wanted me to take the kids up and to see if I wanted to keep flying." Snoddy and his father shared a love for flying -- Matt Snoddy as a pilot and his dad as a passenger. Tim Snoddy enjoyed flying so much he'd been talking about getting his pilots' license, too.
Friday- today I read about A Catholic nun that pleaded guilty to robbing a lot of money. It was a Thursday when she pleaded guilty to embezzlement from a collage. She embezzled eight hundred and fifty thousand dollars from Iona College starting in 1999. She stole the money when she was the vise president of finance of the college. The College took all proper actions in this situation when it was discovered almost two years ago and the majority of the missing funds were recovered. No one would have expected a nun to do this. I think she disserves to do time in jail for what she did.
Friday- Today I read about twenty-one priests that have been placed on administrative leave following a review of suspected child sexual abuse. In addition to the 21 announced Tuesday, three other priests have already been placed on administrative leave after the report was released in February. Five others would have been subject to administrative leave, he added. One was already on leave and two others are considered "incapacitated" and have not been in active ministry. Two other priests no longer serve in the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. Edward Avery, 68, and Charles Engelhardt, 64, were charged with allegedly assaulting a 10-year-old boy at St. Jerome Parish from 1998 to 1999.Bernard Shero, 48, a teacher in the school, is charged with allegedly assaulting the same boy there in 2000, Philadelphia District Attorney Seth Williams said at a press conference in February. James Brennan, another priest, is accused of assaulting a different boy, a 14-year-old, in 1996.
Friday- Today I read about how the San Diego Leaders are planning to dramatically change how much they charge at parking meters throughout the city. This action it to get more use out of the sideway stops while raising about $950k more each year. The City Council voted to give the Mayor authority to expand the hours for parking meters and adjust hours and prices up or down depending on the use. The main goal in this action to fill the meter spots as much and more.

Today I read about a earthquake with a magnitude of 8.4 hit the North and East coast of Japan. The earthquake lasted a long time that it caused a major tsunami. The Tsunami killed many people and is still in affect. Moreover, they say that the tsunami will hit Hawaii and possibly the West Coast of the United States. I think that damn the world is going to end so lets have fun on our last days on earth.
Friday-Today I read about authorities who confiscated a antique gun and some bullets from the home of Charlie Sheen. They said no drugs were found and police were courteous during the search, a restraining order was filed March 1 after he wife said he threatened to kill her.Im glad Toni Is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In today’s morning blog I read about a earthquake and a tsunami that had happened in Japan. Right now there is lot of floods in Japan. This is a bad critique because of the way the tsunami hit Japan and how the earthquake happened. There was a contrast from here and Japan, in Japan there was a lot of floods and here is just a 2feet wave that hit here. The police Persuade the community of Japan to move out of the are were it hit because its dangerous.
Today I read about an 8.9-magnitude earthquake that hit northern Japan today, triggering tsunamis that sent a wave filled with boats and houses toward land. At least 133 people were killed, 722 were injured and 530 are missing, it is crazy the way it is reported that more are to come. There has been 29 air lines cancelled in and out of Tokyo. Between 200 and 300 bodies have been found in the coastal city of Sendai in Miyagi Prefecture, witch is where the tsunami was “local”. In contrast I critique that this situation may be very bad for all the cities that are aliened with the pacific ocean. Truly I'm not trying to persuade anyone but I do believe we should be very cautious.

Today I read about a doctor treating Arizona Rep. Gabrielle Giffords described her condition as "quite remarkable and better than we expected" during a news conference Friday in Houston, Texas. Giffords has shown "better movement and better speaking," while enduring three hour daily rehabilitation sessions. After spending the days after the shooting at his wife's hospital bedside, Capt. Mark Kelly decided in February that he would continue his assignment as the mission commander.

Today I read about Jurors in the trial of self-help guru and speaker James Ray, accused of three counts of manslaughter in a 2009 Arizona sweat lodge ceremony, heard a recording Wednesday in which he previewed the intense ceremony and told participants how it would be a "death and rebirth experience.” Before the October 2009 ceremony at a retreat center near Sedona, Ray told participants it would include the most "intense heat you've every experienced in your life. You will feel like you are going to die."

The grandfather sits perched on a hill, staring down at the shell of an elementary school. He's been here every single day, spending hours staring down at the school, ever since the tsunami swept away and killed 74 of the 108 schoolchildren of Ishinomaki Okawa Elementary School. Two of those young victims were his grandchildren. He wipes his eyes with his gloves, the dirt from the heavy machinery nearby smearing on his weathered face. today I read about The chief prosecutor of the International Criminal Court on Monday requested arrest warrants for Libyan leader Moammar Gadhafi, his son and his brother-in-law, saying there is evidence Gadhafi has committed crimes against humanity in his efforts to maintain control over the country in a months-long battle. The regime's "widespread and systematic attacks against the civilian population" constitute crimes against humanity, the prosecutor argued. The arrest of Gadhafi and his two close relatives "is the only way to protect" civilians in areas under the regime's control, he said, "because that is the way he is ruling the country."

today I read about The markings, which have lain unseen for 4,500 years, were filmed using a bendy camera small enough to fit through a hole in a stone door at the end of a narrow tunnel. It is hoped they could shed light on why the tiny chamber and the tunnel -- one of several mysterious passages leading from the larger King's and Queen's chambers -- were originally built. The team's next task is to look at the chamber's far wall to check whether it is a solid block of stone or another door.

For others, it means no job since more than 20,000 state employees were laid off. And for still others, it means no safety net since caseworkers aren't answering their phones. The state shutdown also ruined Becker's daughter's plans. The shutdown shuttered many state agencies and non-profit organizations that cater to the needy, though some social service programs kept their funding.
