Today I read about an 18-year-old Haitian man allegedly assaulted by troops serving as U.N. peacekeepers in the Caribbean nation is traumatized and receiving medical care, according to a spokesman for Haitian President Michel Martelly. The alleged assault came to light in recent days with a cell-phone video being circulated in Haiti, and a confirmation from the Uruguayan Ministry of Defense that it was investigating its troops in connection with the video. The investigation has expanded to include a United Nations inquiry, as the Uruguayan navy troops allegedly involved were in Haiti as part of the U.N. peacekeeping mission. Israel said authorities were not sure whether the 18-year-old alleged victim was sexually abused, but investigations are ongoing.

Tuesday- Today I read about a psychiatric technician was indicted Monday for reckless endangerment and falsifying hospital records, including those of a patient who died unattended on an emergency room floor. Easton Royal is accused of not checking on patients at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn, New York, and of claiming on hospital forms he had observed numerous psychiatric patients when he had not, Hynes said in a statement. One of the patients was Esmin Green, who received worldwide media attention in 2008 when surveillance footage captured her collapsing and dying on the floor. Royal may face up to 11 years in prison, according to Hynes. It was not immediately clear whether Royal has a lawyer. Royal was suspended immediately after Green's death. He later resigned. Royal was indicted based on evidence from an investigation by the Brooklyn District Attorney's office into Green's death. Schmetterer would not say if any other hospital employees are likely to be indicted. Green, 49, died of a blood clot when she was left unattended for nearly 24 hours at the hospital in June 2008. Security footage showed hospital employees and other patients appearing to ignore Green when she slumped out of a chair and began to convulse on the floor. The Jamaican mother of six lay there for an hour until a hospital employee nudged her with her foot and summoned help.

Wednesday- Today I read about human remains that were in the Utah desert. The remains belonged to a male. They thought it was a 28 year old mother who disappeared in 2009. Scharmann said the state medical examiner is working to determine the cause, time and other circumstances of his death. In addition to Powell, authorities must now determine what happened to the man whose remains were found in the same region on Sunday. An attorney found the bones in the area where his family owns ranch property. Investigators will likely dig for more body parts, Bill Manion, a medical examiner for Burlington County, New Jersey."The most important bones that they can find are the jaw and mandible, part of the skull, because if we have the teeth, we can be very, very accurate in identification,'' Manion said. Meanwhile, the search for the missing woman continues.

Thursday- Today I read about he mother of a 6-year-old boy found dead in the Maine woods is scheduled to be arraigned Thursday after she was arrested a day earlier, authorities said. Julianne McCrery, 42, faces a charge of second-degree murder in the death of her son, according to Michael Delaney, the New Hampshire attorney general. A tip from someone who saw a suspicious vehicle near the boy's body helped police in making the arrest, Delaney said. McCrery was arrested at a rest stop in a pickup truck that fit the description of the one authorities were looking for, CNN affiliate WHDH reported. She was reading the Bible when she was arrested.

Thursday, today I read about the first released photos of the SEAL’s crash site. According to the report, the SEALs had been called in to reinforce other troops already in combat. Just before landing, Taliban fighters hiding in a building fired rocket-propelled grenades. The rear blades were hit. The helicopter crashed in seconds. "These bad guys had been shot at. They were alert. They were leaning forward. They were prepared for the next shoe to fall and then what happened is a Chinook appeared in their crosshairs and they took advantage of it," said Spider Marks, a former senior intelligence officer who reviewed some of the report for CNN. The report also found that the Taliban commander the United States was pursuing turned out to mainly pose a local threat, and was not considered to be a threat against larger population centers such as Kabul. The commander was killed last month in combat operations.
