The first shooting was on Bourbon street outside a nightclub. A 25-year-old man was shot several times and died at a hospital, police said. Seven other people, ranging in age from 19 to 50, were also injured. Video from the scene showed evidence markers lying next to Mardi Gras beads on the street and the area cordoned off with crime scene tape as music continued to spill from nearby Bourbon Street bars. A second shooting took place about 1:45 a.m. on Canal Street. A 19-year-old man was killed and three other people injured. Officers heard gunshots while on patrol and saw three males running from the scene. One of the men was questioned and released, but a 24-year-old faces charges of first-degree murder and three counts of attempted first-degree murder.
Wednesday- Today I read about a young Kentucky soldier serving a military police battalion that has been arrested. He was arrested on suspicion of espionage. He is 22 years old. He was taken into custody on Friday. He has been under investigation by the FBI and Army Counterintelligence agents. The army didn’t say anything about the espionage. He will now likely face military charges, and not be charged in federal criminal court. The newspaper contacted one of Millay's friends, Janssen Payne, who said he was stunned by the arrest. Payne said Millay is "as loyal to his country as he is to his best friends."Payne described Millay as patriotic in high school and a supporter of President George W. Bush.
