Monday- Today I read about authorities are searching for a 2-year-old boy in Bellevue, Washington, after the boy's mother said he went missing when she left him in her car to get help after she ran out of gas. The mother, who was not identified in a police press release, ran out of gas Sunday morning in the northwestern area of the city with her two children, a 4-year-old and 2-year-old, in the car. The woman took the 4-year-old with her when she went to seek assistance, police said, leaving 2-year-old Sky Metalwala behind. "Approximately an hour later she returned to the vehicle and the baby was gone," police said in a statement. The boy was reported missing at 9:50 a.m. About 50 people, including police with tracking dogs, fanned out around the area Sunday to try to find the boy, said Carla Iafrate, a spokeswoman for Bellevue police. The search was suspended as night fell, she said. The parents of the boy are cooperating.

Leonel Contreras and William Steven Rodriguez has been charged as adults with 16 counts , including kiddnapping forcible rape and sodomy by force. It was said that the two boys had been attending a family party until they had seen these girls suddenly walked pasted the girls, then came up from behind and immediately ordered them across the street and into a secluded area. The boys ordered the girls to take off their clothes and assaulted them for 30 to 40 minutes until the family members of one of the girls started calling out their names. As they departed, one of the boys told one of the victims, "Don't scream, I don't want to have to hurt you," according to Patrick.
Tuesday- Today I read about The Supreme Court has struck down a California law that would have banned selling "violent" video games to children, a case balancing free speech rights with consumer protection. The 7-2 ruling Monday is a victory for video game makers and sellers, who said the ban which had yet to go into effect would extend too far. They say the existing nationwide, industry-imposed, voluntary rating system is an adequate screen for parents to judge the appropriateness of computer game content. The state says it has a legal obligation to protect children from graphic interactive images when the industry has failed to do so. "As a means of assisting concerned parents it (the law) is seriously over inclusive because it abridges the First Amendment rights of young people whose parents (and aunts and uncles) think violent video games are a harmless pastime," wrote Justice Antonin Scalia for the majority.

Mario Arias was found dead in his barracks room early Sunday. Investigators said the unidentified Marine was located outside the barracks after having jumped from a third floor balcony. Arias, who enlisted in the Marine Corps in August 2010, was an air-crew trainee from Marine Light Attack Helicopter Training Squadron 303, Marine Aircraft Group 39, 3rd MAW. In todays news, a 21 year old man is said to be in custody Monday after allegedly crashing into a dumpster while driving drinking and fleeing the scene, leaving behind a passenger suffering from life threatening injuries. The crash was reported Sunday, when the suspect’s Nissan drifted off the side of the road and into a dumpster causing the vehicle to flip and land on its roof atop a stretch of railroad tracks. In todays news, san diego medical marijuana advocates joined a series of lawsuits Monday seeking an immediate stop to the federal governments statewide efforts to close dispensaries. U.S. attorneys have set various deadlines for dispensaries to shut down or risk criminal prosecution and forfeiture of their properties. The Justice Department and Duffy’s office declined to comment on the lawsuits Monday. Johnston said the lawsuit called on the courts to put an immediate stop to the crackdown, citing an agreement between federal prosecutors and a medical marijuana collective in Santa Cruz. Prohibiting medical marijuana in California violates the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment guaranteeing equal protection under the law because the federal government allows it in Colorado and provides the drug to patients through its own Compassionate Investigational New Drug program. Californians voted in 1996 to allow patients with a doctor’s approval to use marijuana and receive it from their caregivers. The measure passed 56 percent to 44 percent statewide and 52 percent to 48 percent in San Diego County.
However, its use remains illegal under federal law, which also does not recognize the need for medical marijuana as a defense in criminal cases.
Today I read about a historian has been arrested in central Russia after police found the corpses of 29 women, dressed as dolls, in his apartment, authorities said this week. The 45-year-old man, who police did not identify, has been charged with desecrating bodies and graves, officials said. Video released by police showed an eerie collection of what looks like life-sized dolls, outfitted in shabby dresses and headscarves, their hands and faces wrapped in fabric. Authorities say the man also stole clothes from the graves when he took the bodies.
Today I read about, For thousands of Iraqi women and girls, the conflict that began in 2003 was only the start of their ordeals. In the chaos of war and the confusion, lawlessness and poverty that followed, an untold number have become victims of sexual traffickers, some within Iraq and others sold over the borders. But the problem of trafficking has gone almost unreported, kept in the shadows by a combination of corruption, religious and cultural taboo and lack of interest by the region's authorities in tackling it, researchers say.A report released by the London-based non-governmental group Social Change for Education in the Middle East (SCEME) Wednesday hopes to change that.Entitled Karamatuna, or Our Dignity, the study highlights the plight of girls as young as 10 or 12 who have been trafficked from post-war Iraq into countries including Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia for sexual exploitation.

He worked two kitchen jobs: one for Doubletree hotels, another for Waffle House.
Today I read about Mexican drug cartels, they are expanding global connections and how they affect people's daily lives. Mexico has landed some hard punches against the drug cartels that have stirred violence in parts of the country violence attributed to the Zetas has not decreased even after these busts, and critics wonder if names are meaningless if they are so quickly replaced. The entry of Mexican troops into the drug cartel fight began before Calderon became president. His predecessor, Vicente Fox, launched Operation Safe Mexico in 2005, which sent soldiers and federal police to eight cities in Mexico. As many as 45,000 troops have been deployed throughout the country.

However, the court cleared him of a charge of possessing an article with intent to destroy or damage property in relation to a petrol bomb he was carrying. Rioting first broke out in Tottenham, north London, in the wake of a peaceful protest over the fatal shooting of a local man by police.
