Monday- Today I read about prosecutors seeking a death penalty against a Tennessee woman. She apparently smothered her newborn infants. The grand jury indicted Lindsey Brooke Lowe on two counts each of first-degree felony murder, first-degree premeditated murder and aggravated child abuse. The mother has no criminal record and the crimes met only one of 16 aggravating factors that would support a death penalty case. She secretly gave birth to her two twin boys in her parents house and then smothered the infants and hid their bodies in a bedroom laundry basket. She later confessed telling the police she didn’t look at either of the babies as she placed her hand over each child’s mouth to stop them from crying. She said nobody knew about her pregnancy.
Tuesday- Today I read about a man who raped his ex-girlfriend and then framed her for a series of armed robberies. The woman is expected to take the stand this week in State Supreme Court in Queens. "His alleged actions resulted in her, a single mother, being incarcerated for more than six months as she awaited trial and the frightening prospect of spending a lengthy time behind bars if convicted of the trumped-up charges,". Charges against Ramrattan include perjury, conspiracy and rape. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges. On March 8, 2009, the woman, a former Morgan Stanley analyst, was allegedly bound and raped in her home. Prosecutor Frank DeGaetano of the Queens district attorney's office told the jury that DNA evidence will prove she was attacked by her ex-boyfriend, Ramrattan. After hearing that a warrant was out for his arrest, Ramrattan turned himself in to a New York Police Department special victim's unit.
In today's news, a preliminary hearing is scheduled Wednesday in El Cajon for a man accused of gunning down his ex-wife in their Lakeside home and then trying to commit suicide by asphyxiating himself with carbon monoxide. Timothy Ralph Danielson, 63, is charged with murder in the June 13 death of 18 year old Ming. It is said that a judge will decide at the end of the preliminary hearing whether there's enough evidence to order Danielson to stand trial. It appears the he was attempting to kick her out of the house , and that she was dating somebody else , which he was aware of, but he had had enough.Following the shooting, Danielson didn't call 911 but instead took Qi's body up to his bedroom and used a generator to try to kill himself with carbon monoxide. Sheriff's deputies were called to the home on New Bedford Court about 4:45 a.m. June 13 by a woman who said her brother-in-law had sent her an email saying that he had killed his wife and was about to kill himself. If convicted, Danielson faces 50 years to life in prison.

They suspected tornadoes were reported in Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama. It was said that four homes were damaged in western Alabama, about 60 miles southwest of Tuscaloosa.
