Monday- Today I read about on the day he shot President Ronald Reagan, 25-year-old John Hinckley Jr. left in his hotel room a letter addressed to young actress Jodie Foster, with whom he was infatuated. But on March 30, 1981, Hinckley survived. His gun empty after he fired six shots at the president in less than two seconds, Hinckley was tackled by police and Secret Service agents. He was rushed away and all but disappeared into custody for the past three decades. On Wednesday, a federal judge will begin a week and half of hearings on whether Hinckley eventually should be released from the mental hospital where he has been a patient since his 1982 trial ended in a jury verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity. Doctors at St. Elizabeth Hospital, a federal mental facility in Washington, have petitioned the court for approval to grant Hinckley convalescent leave if all goes well in series of extended visits to his mother's home.
Tuesday- Today I read about a man who shot his ex-wife and seven other people to death. It was the deadliest shooting in Orange County, California. He pleaded not guilty. He was charged with eight counts of first-degree murder and a felony count of attempted murder . The shooting happened at the Salon Meritage hair salon in the small coastal community of Seal Beach. The first-degree murder charges carry the special circumstance of multiple murder. The attempted murder count is for a ninth victim who was wounded. The guy and his ex-wife, were battling over custody of their 8-year-old son, and the dispute was the motive in the shooting.
Wednesday- Today I read about federal officials charged 20 people Wednesday in a scheme to recruit illegal immigrants from Russia and Eastern European countries to work as exotic dancers in New York strip clubs. Charges against the 20 individuals include racketeering, extortion, visa and marriage fraud, and transporting and harboring illegal immigrants. The accused are alleged to be members of the Gambino and Bonanno organized crime families. Several of the accused are alleged to have run the "Strip Club Enterprise," which controlled a series of strip clubs throughout Queens and Long Island. Through these clubs, the accused are alleged to have recruited Eastern European women to enter the United States on student J1 visas to perform as strippers in their enterprises. Prosecutors also charge the defendants threatened physical violence and economic harm if the owners and operators of New York strip clubs as part of a broad extortion scheme.
Thursday- Today I read about a woman and four children were wounded and their apparent attacker killed himself in a mass shooting Wednesday. The four children were flown to various hospitals, their ages and conditions were not immediately known. The female shooting victim was undergoing surgery Wednesday evening. The shooting occurred at a residence in the city outside Houston. Police responded to a call at 3:18 p.m. that a woman had been shot. When they arrived, they discovered the other victims and the apparent shooter. The suspect, a male, had died at the scene after apparently shooting himself in the head. Detectives are working to determine the relationship of the suspected shooter and the victims.

Today I read about Gunmen attacked and sprayed an Afghan family with acid in their home after the father rejected a man's bid to marry his teenage daughter, authorities said Thursday. The gunmen broke into their home and attacked the 18-year-old daughter, her two sisters and their parents, according to authorities in Kunduz province. All five received medical treatment, with the mother and two daughter later discharged, medical officials said. The teenager is in intensive condition and her father is still hospitalized, said Abdul Shokoor Rahimi, a doctor at the provincial hospital. The attack came on the heels of her family's refusal to marry off the teen to another local gunman. A month ago, a gunman tried to marry the teenager, but her family turned him down and instead got her engaged to a relative, said Nadera Geya, head of women's affairs in the province.
Friday- Today I read about the four of the children wounded in a mass shooting in east Texas have died. Lt. Andrew Lewis, a Bay City Police spokesman, said the deceased children were 2, 3, 4 and 5 years old. He did not identify them. The 2-year-old was a girl and the 4-year-old a boy, he said. The children's mother was wounded in the shooting Wednesday afternoon and airlifted to a hospital in Houston, according to police. Her condition was not available Thursday evening. Friday- Today I read about The man accused of killing four New Yorkers during a violent stabbing spree in February has pleaded guilty to several counts of murder. Maksim Gellman, 23, was accused of stabbing his stepfather, ex-girlfriend and her mother to death, during a rampage that terrorized three New York City boroughs for roughly 28 hours. Gellman pleaded guilty Wednesday to four counts of murder, two counts of attempted murder, three counts of assault and several counts of robbery. "While it is unusual for a defendant to plead to the top charges against him without promise of benefit the overwhelming evidence in this case left him with little option," District Attorney Charles J. Hynes said in a press release.
Today I read about twin suicide bombings killed dozens Tuesday in Afghanistan, most of them in a mass-scale sectarian attack on Shiite worshippers unlike anything the country has seen in its decade-long war. The terrorist attacks in the cities of Kabul and Mazar-e Sharif killed 58 people and wounded scores of others, officials said. A suicide bomber detonated a device at a Shiite shrine in Kabul as worshippers were marking the Shiite holy day of Ashura, Afghan Health Ministry spokesman Kargar Norughli said. Fifty-four people were killed and 150 were wounded, said Afghan Health Ministry spokesman Kargar Norughli. Four people were killed by an explosion at a roundabout on a busy street in Mazar-e Sharif, the provincial capital of Afghanistan's northern Balkh province, police official Lal Mohammad Ahmadzai said. Another 21 were wounded in that attack.

On Monday a 12 year old girl post on facebook ‘may die today’ hours before getting shot and killed by her mother. She wasn’t the only one shot mother also shot her 10 year old brother and then shot herself as well. Her 10 year old brother survived with critical damage. The mother was upset because they didn’t grant her food stamps that she was trying to get. She holded one of the supervisors hostage as well but soon let him go unharmed but stayed with her children. The police stayed on her with the phone but she kept on hanging up as soon as they heard the gun shots they rushed in but were too late.
Today I read about a Irish kid that likes helping kids that got hurt because he was once. He got grabbed by a guy with a mask and got set on fire. He is a really good kid, that doesn’t care about his appearance. They were also talking about his skin melting off.

There was another shooting at Virginia tech this time an officer was shot and killed while sitting inside his patrol car. The shot was captured on the officers patrol camera. A person says that saw everything saw the guy approach the officer and shot him and took off. They say the suspect changed close and into a hat and put his other close inside a backpack. Later on an officer spotted the suspect about a half mile away from the scene and noticed he was acting suspicious he decided to go to pull him over but he lost sight of the suspect and soon saw his body on the ground, he had shot himself. Officers still don’t know the cause for this murder but are still investigating. The officer had won an award on 2008 for his commitment to his campus it was shame he had to be murdered.
friday. When out on the playground, there arose such a clatter -- because little Tommy told all his classmates there was no such thing as Santa Claus.
It's an uncomfortable scenario both the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny know all too well, and has the potential to leave parents caught like reindeer in headlights.
It typically involves distraught kids cornering their parents after school with widened eyes, blurting out: "Tommy told me there isn't a Santa Claus!" (or Saint Nicholas, Father Christmas, Kris Kringle or Babbo Natale, respectively).
Heather Barranco knows the awkward affair all too well; her own child recently told a number of the kids in kindergarten that Santa didn't exist. For spiritual reasons, Barranco's family forgoes the Santa tradition.
"One parent, whom I was friendly with, told me that her daughter was not allowed to play with my daughter anymore," says Barranco. "She questioned my parenting skills and said in a very angry voice, 'I do not know what you are teaching your children in your house. But, we believe in Santa and fairies. Your daughter took away something very special from my family.'"

In the context I read today it said that thousands of children suffered from sexual abuse in the Dutch Roman Catholic Church and more than 800 possible perpetrators were evaluated. Many of them have required special attention and sometimes professional counseling. The report covers all the way from 1945 to 2010. Church authorities failed to take adequate attention and paid too little attention to victims. 800 names of perpetrators can be traced to people and at least 105 of them are known to still be living. A lot of these cases the perpetrator and the victim have had meetings and in most cases the perpetrator has expressed regret. The victims gradually started receiving attention since the 1900’s.
