Monday- today I read about the hurricane that has hit San Diegans. The storm is a really powerful storm that San Diego had not seen in years. The storm is supposed to last until Friday with a lot of strong winds and lots of water. The storm is supposed to be so strong that it has triggered a flood watch. The storm started on Monday afternoon and is just the beginning. There is said to fall at least 15- 30 inches of rain through out the storm. The article also read that if Tuesday there is another heavy rainfall then the flash flood is most definitely going to be triggered. This is a warning to all of San Diego residents and don’t let the sky fool you.
I think the rain is good because San Diego has not had much rain in years. The storm should bring more rain bur less wind. I also like knowing that the storm is not done and there is more rain yet to come.
I learned about the storm that is hitting San Diego because there hasn’t been much rain here in years and it makes me happy to know there is finally rain here.

In today’s news I read about Brandon Swanson, a 19-year-old college freshman, who was celebrating his end of classes with his friends at Minnesota West Community and Technical College. He called home shortly after midnight May 14, 2008, said he'd driven into a ditch in the neighboring town of Lynd, Minnesota. And that he needed a ride. But when they arrived, there was no car and no Brandon. They turned around and flashed the lights on their truck. He told his father to look for him at a nightclub parking lot that was a popular meeting spot in Lynd. But at the 47-minute mark, the call ended abruptly. The teen shouted an expletive, and the phone went dead. It was the last time anyone heard from him. The Swanson's turned to their son's friends for help. They searched all night, driving down dirt roads and through farmland. There was no sign of him. Phone records later showed that the teen was nowhere near Lynd, where he told his parents he was. His cell phone calls were traced to a tower 20 miles away in Minnesota. That afternoon, Lyon County police found Swanson's vehicle in Porter, approximately 25 miles from Lynd. Investigators brought in search dogs, and they led investigators to woods by the bank of the Yellow Medicine River. The river's depth ranges from knee high in certain areas to 15 feet in others. At the time Swanson went missing, it was flowing high and fast. But investigators are not convinced that the teen fell into the river. Vizecky said Swanson should have been found in the river or downstream, had he fallen in. The couple is responsible for the enactment of Brandon's Law, which became effective in Minnesota on July 1, 2009.The law requires authorities to conduct a preliminary investigation without delay when a missing persons report is received. Brandon Swanson has brown hair and blue eyes, stands 5'6" and weighs 125 pounds. When last seen, he was wearing blue jeans, a white or black hat twisted to the side, and a white short-sleeved shirt.

When he called home shortly after midnight May 14, 2008, telling his parents he needed a ride because he had driven into a ditch in the neighboring town of Lynd, Minnesota. His mom and dad immediately set out in their pickup to look for their son and his green Chevy Lumina sedan. He was absolutely positive he knew where he was. The parents stayed on the phone, talking to their son as they headed to pick him up. But when they arrived, there was no car and no Brandon. They turned around and flashed the lights on their truck. His mom was flashing their car lights at the spot that the teenager said he was, his mom was on the phone with him and she could hear him working on his car. Swanson told his parents he would walk back to his friend's house in Lynd. His father drove home to drop Annette off and then headed back to look for the teen. They exchanged calls just before 2 a.m. and eventually carried on a long conversation while the younger Swanson was walking, trying to direct his father to where he was. He told his father to look for him at a nightclub parking lot that was a popular meeting spot in Lynd. But at the 47-minute mark, the call ended abruptly. The teen shouted an expletive, and the phone went dead. So they couldn’t contact him. They were searching for him, they would call his friends and no answer about him.

In today’s news the court states that a child rapist does not deserve special treatment. Roman Polanski is under House arrest in Switzerland after pleading Guilty of raping a 13 year old girl in 1977. Polanski’s attorney uses METHODS for trying to push for Polanski to be sentenced without going to America. The district attorneys say that Polanski doesn’t deserve special treatment just because he has a celebrity status. It OCCURRED in 1977, Polanski was 43, where he unlawfully raped a 13 year old girl. Polanski has been a fugitive since 1978 and has lived in Europe before his arrest. Polanski has PROCEEDED with the guilty plead, in return for a short sentencing. Samantha Geimer is now in her forties and has agreed to testify about the case.
I think the girl is sad about the case and is hurt about hearing the case. I also don’t think that Polanski doesn't deserve a special treatment, just because he is a celebrity. The court will decide what Polanski’s sentencing will be.

sergio-Some Twitterusers are revealing the locations of police drunk-driving checkpoints in Mexico City and the people behind the tweets could be prosecuted, police said Monday. Mexico City Public Safety Department spokesman Julio Iver said it is illegal for anyone to "divulge privileged information on police agencies," but he did not say what sanctions the Twitter users could face. Mexico City police change the location of the breath-test checkpoints each day to discourage drunk driving. Police cannot do roving tests from their patrol cars, because the city requires that a doctor be present to administer the exams. A Twitter account has been tweeting the location of the checkpoints since at least December, apparently allowing motorists to avoid them. CALLED "ANTI BREATH TEST," THE ACCOUNT NOW HAS OVER 3,400 FOLLOWERS.
THE CITY'S CRIMINAL CODE SETS OUT FINES OF $455 TO $2,270, AND JAIL TERMS OF SIX MONTHS TO FIVE YEARS, FOR ANYONE WHO "IN ANY WAY ASSISTS A CRIMINAL IN AVOIDING INVESTIGATION BY LEGALLY CONSTITUTED AUTHORITIES OR IN ESCAPING FROM THEM."
AS OF MONDAY, THE ACCOUNT CONTINUED ACTIVE, WITH TWEETS FROM USERS WITH NICKNAMES LIKE "DRINKSPIRATION," WARNING ABOUT CHECKPOINTS AND BADMOUTHING THE POLICE THREAT OF PROSECUTION.

Today I read about an Arkansas plotted to kill Africans Americans in 2008. The man threatened to kill president Obama and other African Americans. Paul faces 10 years to prison. He would be facing more years in prison, but because of a plea bargain he is only doing 10. When Paul threatened to kill Obama, Obama was a Senator. This was all shortly before the presidential election.
I wonder how people found out about what Paul wanted to do. I think this guy just wanted to cause attention, because if he really wanted to kill African Americans he would of done it by now. There is African Americans everywhere, so he could of done it anytime. He never killed one persons, so I think he just wanted attention.
I learned that If you just threaten to kill someone important, they find out very fast.

Wednesday- Today I read about the storm in San Diego. As I read yesterday about the big storm I read today about the accidents that happened. The storm caused a lot of car accidents and even falling trees. In one situation a man said he was in his vehicle when he saw a tree start to fall. He said he tried to get free from his vehicle but the door was stuck he was lucky to get out on the fifth try. His neighbor on the other side she was killed instantly on impact when the tree fell on her trailer. There were also a lot of blackouts throughout San Diego and it even happened in my house. The storm seems to have calmed a little but is not done yet.
This is an interesting story because this is happening right now in my area. The storm is hitting us San Diegans good and I hope it doesn’t stop yet. I think this is good for the environment because there are going to be lots of plants starting to sprout soon.
I learned that storms like the one here in San Diego can cause lots of damage.

In today’s news I read about a suspect in the shooting deaths of eight people in Virginia turned himself in Wednesday morning and was taken into custody. Police spokeswoman Corinne Geller identified the suspect as Christopher Speight, 39. She said he approached a law enforcement officer and surrendered without incident about 7:10 a.m. Seven people were killed in and around a home in Appomattox, about 75 miles from Richmond in central Virginia, and the eighth was found in the middle of a road, Molinar said. Males and females were killed, but authorities did not provide their ages. The investigation started Tuesday afternoon with a 911 call reporting a man lying in the middle of Route 703. On arrival at the scene, police heard gunshots in the area. A search turned up seven bodies. Police established a perimeter around a large area of Appomattox County on Tuesday afternoon, Molinar said, suspecting Speight was within it. The manhunt included canine units and helicopters. The bullets that struck the aircraft indicate Speight had a high-powered rifle.

In Today’s news a teenager drove into a ditch and disappeared as parents searched. Brandon Swanson was a 19 year old College freshmen when he was celebrating with his friends the last day of classes at Minnesota West Community and Technological school. Swanson called home after midnight on May 14 2008 and told his parents he accidentally PROCEEDED toward a ditch and needed a ride. His parents Brian and Annette Swanson then immediately went to where they believed the accident OCCURRED to try to find him. Brandon was getting frustrated that he couldn’t be found and so has his parents. They then got into an argument hung up, apologized, and decided to let him walk to his friends house. They thought a good METHOD to find there son was to let him walk somewhere with his cell phone and telling them where he was. They talked for hours until Brandon's phone lost its battery and that was the last time somebody talked to him.
I don’t see how he even fell in a ditch that night. Why didn’t they just call the police for help. I think maybe the boy was kidnapped.

This morning I read about a couple who came down from Ohio. They expected to have nice beautiful weather, but instead got a lot of rain. Sunday they went to Sea World, and got nice weather. The other days were not so nice. Monday they went to the Wild Animal Park and it was really rainy. Tuesday they went to the zoo and the weather was still the same. His wife was trying to be optimistic by saying at home they would be facing 10 inches of snow, but her husband still wanted to see at least some sun.
If I were them I would not want to be anywhere but only my house. I also think that this was not a good week for them to come down to San Diego. They should of checked what the weather would be like before they came.
I learned to always check the weather when I travel.

Thursday-Today I read about the Chargers in the sports section. The Chargers have got themselves in a tight squeeze. An important thing that occurred is that five players in the team whose contracts are up. Malcolm Floyd, Vincent Jackson, Marcus Mcneill, Shawne Merriman and Darren Sproles. These players will proceed to play during the season but will have restricted free agents. The players with the drawn up contracts are the players that dominate the game. With luck and a new method hopefully the players get new contracts. Other then that the team doing good.

This morning I read about a man who got beat up after disrupting an argument between a couple. The couple was at a 7-11 parking lot arguing. The guy who interrupted was at a convenient store. The guy noticed the couple arguing, and noticed that he knew the woman. The woman's boyfriend became very angry. He then left and came back with a car jack. When he came back the woman and the other man were in her car talking. The woman’s boyfriend then started beating up the other guy with the car jack. He caused a lot of injuries on the other guy, and face fractures. The woman then took off with the victim in her car, not long after, she crashed into a brick wall. The woman and the man who beat the guy up got arrested for suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and vandalism.
I think this is very weird. How dumb can that lady be to crash into a brick wall ?, especially after the guy got beat up badly. I feel bad for the guy because not only did he get beat up with a car jack, he got into a car accident.
I learned that they weirdest incidents can happen.

Thursday- Today I read about how San Diego got a “D’ for a letter grade on smoking. The reason is no one knows but think its discrimination. There are other states where not as many banned places for smoking but get good grades by the national lung association. San Diego has so many banned places you can smoke at that it is hard to find where to do it. The city is asking what we have to do to be actually doing good and it seems even smoking in your own apartment is going to be banned now. You wont be able to smoke at an outside bar anymore and I don’t know why. The county is going to try hard for the achievement of an “A”. This is really discrimination on San Diego maybe because our city is so beautiful they are just jealous.
This is a really hateful story because San Diego actually tried to do really good and yet receive a “D”. I think San Diego shouldn’t really care about a grade in this smoking ban thing. The city should just forget all about this and just keep doing what we’re doing.
I learned that since San Diego is so beautiful people just hate on us and try to Run Down our spirit.

thursday-Once a caregiver, Chris Anguiano, nearly killed in a hatchet attack, returned to his Escondido hospital yesterday in a heartbreaking role reversal to receive hugs and encouragement from the nurses who were once his colleagues. The nurses of Palomar Medical Center greeted Anguiano with cheers and smiles. But privately they cried for the 30-year-old, a nursing assistant before the attack left him legally blind and brain-damaged. He was assisted during his visit by Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Eugene Amano, who pushed Anguiano in his wheelchair. Anguiano was sleeping in his Escondido home with his then-girlfriend after 1 a.m. July 9 when a man burst into the house, looking for his estranged wife. She was in the next room with her 7-year-old daughter and boyfriend. Authorities said the man mistook Anguiano’s girlfriend for his wife and attacked Anguiano and the woman, who suffered wounds to her hands and feet.

In today’s reading I learned about when Elisabeth "Betty" Broderick's successful husband of 16 years dumped her for his young legal assistant She covered the walls of his house in San Diego with black spray-paint and drove her car through his front door. She left angry, obscenity-laced tirades on his answering machine. Then she crept into his bedroom early on a Sunday morning and shot him and his new wife to death. Now 62, Betty Broderick has been in prison longer than she was Mrs. Daniel Broderick.

Today I read about hoe for the first time scientists have shown that chimpanzees in the wild become sick and die of the simian version of AIDS. The finding upset a widely held scientific belief that chimpanzees the closet relatives to humans can get simian AIDS without being harm. But the discovery could help doctors come up with better treatments or a workable vaccine for humans experts say.
The scientist made the discovery by testing hundreds of samples at chimpanzees waste in a nine-year study.

In Today’s news a sex offender is sentenced for 5 months.
A Louisiana man who is 77 pleaded guilty to molesting several young girls. Marvin Garret PROCEEDED to apologize to the young girls he molested between 1962-1975. After many agreements in he court Garret accepted to go to prison for five months and to register as a sex offender. Garret’s attorney argued that he has already been in treatment, and that he might not be able to molest anyone right now. It OCCURRED to one of the Victims to say: “Every day of my life, I read the obits and hope he died and this will be over and my brothers and sisters don't have to deal with it, and the other children that was around us, when he was doing it” said one of the victims. The Court system believes that the best METHOD to punish him is to send him behind bars before he died. They believe that him serving some time is better than not serving time.
I think that the victims are suffering a lot since they have been molested. I also think Garret should serve some time before dying. I don’t think it should be five months and he should have it at least one or two years.

This morning I read about the woman who abducted Jaycee Dugard. Nancy Garrido misses Jayvee Dugard, The girl she and her husband abducted. Not only did she help in abducting her, but Nancy’s husband had sex with Jaycee and got her pregnant twice. I think Nancy is crazy. She has 29 felony counts. “She asked me to tell Jaycee and the children she really misses them and loves them,” said her attorney. I think Nancy needs to PROCEED with her life in prison, and face the cruel events that OCCURRED and the fact that Jaycee want nothing to do with her. I think she is just saying that as a METHOD to gain pity from others.

Friday- today I read about the elementary schools around San Diego. The school’s are all said to be having recess indoors. The schools principles all said the same thing that it gets crazy when a child is used to one thing and gets a change. The thing is if one does that imagine a whole school. The rain is what has kept many kids off the playground’s in there school and it still hasn’t stopped yet. The school’s have been putting the kids to do things that the school’s usually don’t want them to do. They are like sit around instead of running around and getting exercise, watching television instead of learning, and playing not educational board games. The school’s detest doing this to the kids but there is nothing they can do to change the weather.
This was a cool article because it reminds me of rainy school days. I also think it is more fun to kids then the staff because they get to do what they do at home but at school. There should be more rainy days to help kids be more comfortable at school like at home.
I learned that rainy days are still the same after so many years in elementary school.

The Garridos are charged with the 1991 abduction and years of sexual abuse. Nancy Garrido also states that she hopes to contact them. Garridos new lawyer said she asked him to tell Jaycee and her children that she really loves them and misses them. Both Nancy and Philip Garrido remain in jail. (where they belong forever) I think they should hurry up and PROCEED with this case so these nasty creeps can get a life sentence. I think that they are both disgusting sick individuals and should never be allowed in public ever again so nothing like this OCCURS again.

In today’s news an Afghan General hopes that U.S troops stay longer in Afghanistan. An Afghan General wanted to thank the Country for helping us win the war and then he wanted to remind Obama of his deadline in July 2011. It OCURRED to Gen. Muhaiuddin Ghori that he needs the U.S troops to stay in Afghanistan for a couple more years to help defeat the Taliban. He commented that not all of the Afghan people support the Taliban since they have endured many years of Suffering. The Taliban used Many METHODS to hurt its citizens, like: Torture people, kill people, Burn down schools and hospitals. The U.S Military leaders announced that they will start to Evacuate the Soldiers on the year 2011. Some Afghan citizens have PROCEEDED to go to the military and join the U.S to defeat the Taliban. Ghori commented: “ The Afghan people are not cowards, they are warriors”.
I disagree with the Taliban since they are cruel to kill people just because they have different opinions. I also think that the Afghan refugees are good people who had no other choice. I don’t want the war to be extended and that America should withdraw in about a year.

Friday- Today I read about the Afghan General and his hopes that the U.S. will stay longer. Afghan Army Brig. General Mujahidin Ghori delivered two clear messages yesterday during a visit to Camp Pendleton, where a contingent of Afghan officers is spending two weeks with marines who will soon fight alongside them. He responded by thanking the American mothers whose sons and daughters are heading to hid country to “help us win this war.” The process will take some time but it will be well worth it. There’s always something good and bad that comes out of this and the bad is that I assume he will want more time and more soldiers to “help Them win the war.” In the Afghan territories they have fought for many years and will most likely endure more pain and death throughout the future unless we get rid of the enemy now.

In today’s news I read about the rapid thud-thud-thud of military choppers overhead on Wednesday was the first thing to catch the attention of the residents of Cuernavaca, a city south of Mexico City known as a retreat for city-dwellers and tourists alike. The helicopters landed near Punta Vista Hermosa, a majestic resort where condos sell for millions of Mexican pesos, and before long, seemingly hundreds of military personnel were on its grounds. A few hours later, a ferocious firefight broke out between the military and a cell of drug traffickers. The end of Beltran Leyva's reign at the helm of the violent cartel was hailed by Mexico and the United States as a major victory for Calderon's offensive against the cartels, a war that has claimed more than 14,000 lives since 2006.
