monday- Speeding driver rams police car, injuring 2 officers. Two San Diego police officers were injured in City Heights early Thursday when their patrol car was broadsided by a speeding pickup whose driver ran a stop sign, authorities said. The driver, as well as both officers, were injured at the scene. The officers were hospitalized and are expected to recover. Officers first saw the gray GMC pickup traveling the wrong way on 43rd street and tried to pull over. The driver sped off, and after a short chase, police lost sight of it. The truck slammed right into the front of the passenger side of the patrol car. The impact spun the patrol car around a couple of times until it came to a rest. The police officers will emerge the hospital with minor injuries. My hypothesis is the driver was under the influence at the time. I implicate the driver was not in the right state of mind, and this is the reason of the accident.

Monday,
At 4:30 am, two San Diego police officers were injured in City Heights when another car ran a stop sign. A man who lived near where the accident happened said he was just about to fall asleep when he heard a crash that sounded like an explosion. When he went outside he saw that a truck had smashed into his Ford F-150, this happened a little before the man had injured the police.

MONDAY-- A young teenage girl went on a dangerous mission in Los Angeles. She set sail to travel around the world. Her brother, Zac, accomplished the mission at the age of 17, and was encouraging his sister to try to do the same. Abby Sunderland is only 16, and set sail on what seems to be an impossible mission. Her ship was small and had many reparations done to it in the past. After satellite connections was lost on her cell phone she began to panic and set off beacons for emergency help. She does not want this to stop her from accomplishing her mission. She wants to travel the world still, and wants to do it solo. When she was rescued she was 2,00 miles from Australia and Africa. My hypothesis on this situation is that this will end up turning into a documentary on television. I feel her parents are irresponsible for letting their teenage daughter sail around the world by herself. They wouldn’t know what happened to their daughter if she was to never come back. I amend her for her bravery and courage though, because I know I would never be able to achieve this kind of goal. I would need somebody to be there sailing along side me.

In today's news I read about a man who tried to kidnapped a 14 year old girl in City Heights on Thursday morning as she was walking to school on 44th Street. The girl told police officers she was approached like around 7:15 a.m. near University Avenue by a man who came out of an apartment complex. He was telling the girl something and the girl managed to get away, but the man chased her and grabbed her. The girl broke free and continued to run until she flagged down a school bus and driver was able to call the police. The man was described as a Latino about 25 years old 6 feet tall with a medium build and shaved head. At the scene he was wearing a dark blue shorts and long white socks. It was one of the three incidents in a week in San Diego. A week ago an 11 year old Carmel Valley boy reported that three people in an SUV tried to abduct him as he was walking home. He escaped after another driver told him to run.

Monday- Today I read about One person remained missing Monday from last week's flash flood at an Arkansas campground that left 19 dead, but there's still a possibility there could be others, Gov. Mike Beebe told CNN. Rescuers found a 19th body over the weekend about half to three-quarters of a mile downstream from the campground, Arkansas State Police Capt. Mike Fletcher told reporters. Eighteen of the 19 bodies recovered so far have been identified. A wall of water swept through the Albert Pike Recreation Area before dawn Friday, when most campers were sleeping. The park is located along the Caddo and Little Missouri rivers, and the flood struck so quickly there was little chance for campers to escape. I hope that all these people are ok and if they are safe.

This morning I read about a man who was stuck in his basement for three days in Hartford Connecticut. Jonathan Metz had been trapped with his left arm stuck in a broken furnace. Smelling rotten flesh, he decided that amputation was the only hope. The 31- year-old fashioned a tourniquet near his shoulder and began cutting. He almost made it all the way through, but he was unable to free himself. He was rescued when his worried friends called police. Firefighters cut the furnace apart. Doctors said the attempted self amputation probably saved his life, preventing the infection in his arm from spreading. He will have to undergo surgery to prepare the arm for a prosthetic. Metz lives alone. He had been working to replace the boiler fins on his furnace Sunday when his arm became trapped. Metz drank some water that leaked from the furnace to help him stay alive. I think that this story is real crazy. I think the man is lucky that he was brave enough to try to cut his own arm off so the infection didn’t EMERGE from his arm. I HYPOTHESIZE that if he wouldn’t have attempted to cut his arm off and drank the water , he probably would have died.

Monday- Today I read an article about four injured firefighters and a pedestrian. It was said that there was a collision between the two. There was an ambulance at the time so there were no serious injuries. The man that did the collision was said to be drunk. This happened on a two lane road northeast of Alpine near the Viejas Casino. The suspect suffered from a minor broken wrist and is in custody. The police were first at the scene and said that the suspect’s car was severely damaged. The reason why they crashed was not yet released.
This was an interesting story because I have never heard of a fire truck getting into a collision. The man was suspected of being drunk and I just can’t believe that. I think that the police just released that story.
I learned that to not make a big scene the police make things seem like it’s the other person’s fault.

In today’s news, Bam Margera was was beaten outside of The Note nightspot. Elizabeth Ray, 59, who lives behind the club, is charged with aggravated assault and other offenses in the beating of Brandon "Bam" Margera. The injuries were enough to send Margera to Crozer-Chester Medical Center, where his mother and sometime costar, April Margera, said he was in intensive care for most of Saturday. Her famous son was found lying on his stomach in the middle of South Matlack Street in his native West Chester about 2 a.m. Saturday, bleeding from a gash on the left side of his head.

Tuesday- Today I read about A 52-year-old American citizen who said he was searching for Osama bin Laden and was detained in Pakistan near the border with Afghanistan this week, Pakistani police said on Tuesday. The Californian named Gary Brooks Faulkner was carrying a pistol, a sword, night-vision equipment and Christian religious books, a police chief in the area. Faulkner was detained as he was walking from Pakistan toward the border into Nuristan province in Afghanistan. He told police that he had been looking for bin Laden since 9/11 and had traveled to the area several times before. I think that this guy is dead and there is no use looking for him because they won’t find anything.

Tuesday- Today I read an article about a former principle who was arrested. The principle was a former principle from Helix High School in La Mesa. He was arrested for giving a former Helix High student a ride to the Greyhound station. The girl commented that she was surprised he was being charged. The teenager now lives in Oregon where she had left from the Greyhound the day she was given a ride. The whole situation was out of proportion said the principal. The police are still investigating on the whole situation.
This was a bad situation for the principal. I think that the girl had the spoken word for it and should state whether he did anything wrong. I really don’t think that he should of gotten into any trouble.
I learned that in Helix High School anything you do will have you ending up in jail for the staff.

In today’s news I read about ten Mexican federal police were killed and several others wounded in an ambush on a convoy Monday. An undisclosed number of criminals also were killed and wounded. The attack occurred in the city of Zitacuaro, in the central coastal Mexican state of Michoacán. The convoy had originated in the city of Hidalgo and was on its way to Mexico City. In a separate incident in coastal northwestern Mexico, a prison uprising in the city of Culiacan left 29 dead. Initial reports had said 18 were killed, which was later revised to 20. The toll rose to 29 late Monday when Mexican authorities found nine bodies in a separate wing from the one in which the main uprising took place. The carnage occurred Monday morning in the state of Sinaloa, home to the powerful Sinaloa cartel. An AK-47 assault rifle and two large-caliber handguns were confiscated. The police officers wounded in the convoy ambush were taken to hospitals in Mexico City and Morelia, another city in Michoacán state, the information ministry said. They were being protected under heavy guard. Preliminary information indicated that the four-truck police convoy was attacked after the criminals blocked the road with a bus that had been set on fire. The news agency said two other attacks were mounted against police in separate parts of Zitacuaro. No further information on any of the incidents was immediately available. Violence in Mexico has skyrocketed since President Felipe Calderon declared war on the nation's drug cartels shortly after taking office in December 2006. More than 22,000 people have died in drug violence during that time period.

WEDNESDAY-- A big drug sweep held place in Imperial Valley. Twenty-eight people were busted for smuggling drugs. They smuggled drugs into Imperial Valley from Mexico. These drug busts have been happening for a while, and have resulted in thousands of arrests at two year sentencing a piece. They have stopped drug deals from methamphetamines, cocaine, heroin, marijuana, and 150 million dollars of drug money from being used. Although this man has already sold 82 guns illegally, the cops have also cracked down on his case and stopped him from selling anymore. Police have stopped plenty of crime from happening in Imperial Valley. I think that it is ridiculous how high the crime rate is right now. I would say for the boarder patrol to have a more efficient way of detecting drugs in a car crossing over the boarder. I think we should try to make it so the crime rates lower and in doing that maybe our economy will better.

Wednesday- Today I read about Ocotillo resident Betty Thale-Cloud was getting ready for bed Monday night when a magnitude 5.7 earthquake bucked a bookshelf across her bedroom. It glanced off the mattress where she was about to sleep. Instead of nodding off, Thale Cloud and most of the residents of this sun-baked town in Imperial County stayed up late checking on neighbors and cleaning up after the temblor that struck a few miles away. Ocotillo, just a dot along Interstate 8, is the kind of place where everybody knows each other. They come together when the earth gives a powerful jolt, and that has happened lately more than they’d like even in a town known for its frequent seismic activity. I think that this earthquake scared a lot of people. And I am just wondering why it keeps happening more and more often.

During today’s reading I read an article about a girl who tried to take a solo world sail. The 16 year old teen attempted a solo sail around the world . After traveling thousand of miles from land in the Indian Ocean, her emergency bacons began signaling and satellite phone communication was lost. Her parents hypothesis is that she was trying to set a world record. By trying to do so she endangered her self, and her parents should take all blame for this. It was there boat and there child. When the police emerged into this ordeal, they felt as if somebody should go down for this foolish act.

In today's news I read about fifteen people were killed and 12 were missing after flash floods hit the southern French region of Var. The flooding began Tuesday and more storms were expected Wednesday evening. Eleven helicopters worked overnight to rescue people and 1,000 people have been placed in shelters. Some 1,200 firemen and 650 policemen were taking part in the rescue effort. All schools in the region were closed Wednesday and more than 96,000 people were without electricity. Emergency teams also moved 436 inmates from a flooded prison in the town of Draguignan, where the water covered the first two floors and they were taken to nearby jails, according to Agence France-Presse. AFP added that the SNCF rail authority had halted all train services between Toulon and Saint-Raphael until Thursday. President Nicolas Sarkozy issued a statement expressing condolences for the victims' families and support for rescue teams who are mobilizing non-stop to provide aid and find those still missing. Var includes the Cote d'Azur, a popular tourist destination along the French Riviera.

Wednesday- Today I read an article about the earthquake that happened yesterday. The earthquake was strong enough to roll rocks of a cliff onto interstate 8. The quake started near the Mexican Border in Ocotillo. The article stated that it was an after shock of the Easter earthquake. It was said that it was a 5.7 magnitude. The earthquake stopped the padres game momentarily. The earthquake happened at around 9:26 P.M. It was felt almost throughout all the southern parts of California.
This was a good article because I felt the earthquake. The thing is I think that the earth is coming to an end soon. I think that this is the beginning of the earthquakes and mass disasters.
I learned that the end of the world is near and everyone has to be ready for it.

wednesday - Questions were asked about dreams that involve specific details about places an individual has never visited, people they have never met, and scenery that is foreign to them. Are there any speculations as to how the brain is able to create these images? Sherry Seethaler, a science writer and educator, answered questions to these curious people. The vividness, intense emotional feeling of being awake and bizarre narrative of dreams are linked to the brain patterns of REM sleep. These dreams link to visual imagery and activity cortex, which is responsible for associating, or putting together “ the big picture ” of dreams. The frontal areas of the brain are involved in logical reasoning and working memory. Dreams are implicated through the unconscious and subconscious mind. As we are sleeping, pictures emerge and create a dream-scape through which we dream. Seether’s hypothesis is we create images of people we have never met, places we have never gone, because perhaps one day we shall visit these places and people.

Military police at Fort Gordon have arrested a civilian for impersonating a soldier after "possible grenades" were found in his vehicle on base. The Fort Gordon and Richmond County bomb squads were called to a remote location on the base after a search of the vehicle the man had been driving uncovered "several possible grenades". The FBI is leading the investigation. Authorities believe the man may have been involved in earlier thefts of military equipment at Fort Gordon. A report of a suspicious person on the base Tuesday afternoon led military police to the suspect.

THURSDAY-- There are now programs where patients are paid to take their medicines. Many relapses are based on not taking the medications prescribed. This is major in health related issues. Many patients either forget to take their medications or just don’t want to take them. Well, now a new idea has been presented in paying people to take their medicine. Doctors, Pharmacists, insurance companies, and researchers believe this will help raise the rate of people religiously taking their medications. Places pay anywhere from 10-100 dollars a day to take your medicine. Compensation will help people remember to take their medications. I believe this is a bad idea. If we are already in a recession/ depression, how would we come up with the money to pay all of these people this amount of money. Its like having a part-time job. I would agree to do it though. I could see why the people participating in it would be willing to comply with the rules. I would wonder on how the doctors know who is actually taking their medicine.

Thursday- Today I read the rest of the article about the principal. The article this time read that the girl was going through some rough times. The girl had just gotten done from being released of custody through court. The principal was the only one who knew what was going on so he tried to help. In the article it stated that at Helix High School there have been four teachers convicted of sex crimes. For that reason it is why the principal was most likely arrested. He was fired from the school after school officials were notified about what happened. The principal is only facing a few community service days and probation.
This article again was sad because the principal lost everything fro trying to help someone. I understand that there have been many teachers arrested already but he did nothing wrong. I think that the court understood the situation and let him off easy.
I learned that when you try to help someone you may endanger yourself.

This morning I read a story about fire Wednesday at about 5:45 p.m. on Palm Avenue near Dennery Road. The rear tank of a fuel tanker truck overturned and burst into flames just off Interstate 805, creating billowing black smoke that could be seen for miles and prompting evacuations of nearby businesses. In a nearby shopping center were evacuated, including a Vons, a Wal-Mart and the AMC-24 Palm Promenade theater. Nearby Kaiser medical offices and an AM/PM Arco station/minimart just off the freeway also were evacuated. Although some smoke drifted over the freeway, it was not closed, although both Palm Avenue off ramps were shut down. The front tanker had about 4,400 gallons of gasoline that did not burn. The back tanker had about 4,400 gallons. Firefighters did not pour water on the tanker flames, allowing the fuel to burn itself out, which is the most environmentally safe way to deal with a fuel fire. Water was sprayed on the upright tanker to cool off the metal and help prevent that tank from catching on fire. About 60 firefighters responded. In addition to San Diego, there were units from Chula Vista and Bonita Vista. The driver, in his 50s, was not injured. I think that this story is crazy. My cousin works at that Vons. You could see the smoke from my grandmas house, and I heard it was pretty big. I think its is cool that the driver EMERGED uninjured. I hope the investigators don’t find any evidence to IMPLICATE him in this accident.

FRIDAY-- There has been new developments in the finding of HIV/AIDS virus. New technology has been developed. It detects the virus in the body weeks before your body can even detect it. There have been reviews of this new machinery to be made more available to those that are high risk of getting HIV/AIDS. Those who should be testing regularly are homosexual male partners, intravenous drug users, and anybody with multiple sex partners. The new test is said to be more efficient. It picks up all the signs in the body to make sure it comes out right on the screening. There have been false negatives with the regular saliva tests, but they believe those will not happen any longer. It can take up to 3 months for the saliva swabbing tests to absolutely positive be cause of the time it takes for the anti-bodies to fully develop. I think this is wonderful, and I would like to know more about how exactly the machine is able to detect it before your body is. People should be more aware of the risks of unsafe sex and drug use.

Friday- Today I read an article about two daycare centers that were closed down for investigation. The daycare centers are located in Escondido. The reason why they were closed down was because a sex offender was said to be visiting the centers. The registered sex offender not only visited the places but shared ownership with another person. The article stated that there was no actual law that the sex offender broke but it is under investigation. The daycare owners were given fourteen days to file a paper to clear them and reopen their daycares. The sex offender was not done anything to and is also under investigation. The article also stated that the sex offender was convicted in 1995 so it probably will not have any effect on the man anymore.
The article was alright except for that there were two daycares shut down because a sex offender was seen there. I think that yeah maybe it is kind of scary knowing that a sex offender was around my child. For that reason I would of asked to input cameras in every room without him knowing.
I learned that the social services are no joke and will do anything for the safety.

During today’s reading I read an article about a murder case. A 13 year old boy was being sentenced yesterday for the murder of a 24 year old women. The judge tried to implicate the teen for this murder, sentencing him to juvenile hall till he’s 21. Once he’s 21 he will have a chance to emerge from the prison system. Demarco, attempted to rob the woman and in the act shot the woman to death. The father of the woman wasn’t pleased with the judges sentence he doesn't believe that the boy should have a chance to get out. I think that the father is wrong and everybody else who thinks this boy shouldn’t get out. He’s a just a child who is very confused and obviously just trying to survive.

In today’s news, A Michigan judge ordered a 13-year-old boy convicted of murdering a woman during a robbery to remain in juvenile detention until he turns 21. The Detroit teen, who committed the crime when he was 12, will be re-evaluated by the court after his 21st birthday. Depending on the court's findings, Harris will either be released from custody or sentenced as an adult to life in prison without the possibility of parole. If Harris is convicted of a felony while he is in custody, he will automatically be sentenced as an adult to life in prison, the judge said. Harris was found guilty earlier this year of murdering Trisha Babcock during a robbery. The 24-year-old woman was shot to death inside her parked car in Detroit on August 1, 2009.

friday - The new TV show “Terriers,” is being filmed in the small town of Ocean Beach. “Terriers” will make its debut on FX in September. Ocean Beach has become a character in the show. O.B. is a beach that has not become overly commercialized. It seems perfect, and it integrates that into the story line in terms of the characters really caring about the preservation of the town and the way of life. The film hopes they are not implicating drawing in media attention to O.B. When the actors emerge, they feel at home, with the positive vibes in Ocean Beach. My hypothesis is Ocean Beach will always be the same, despite media attention.

And what pan handling is they ask the civilians that work everyday and earn their money they ask them for a couple bucks and give them a excuse to get some money so they can feed their addictive ways. I think that this happens everywhere but I guess in Ocean beach it’s more well known. The ocean beach area is where this is all happening and I think ocean beach is known for running and gunning the streets there’s pills there marijuana and all kinds of drugs.

This morning I read about how agent orange is causing Vietnamese to be born with many defects. Thirty five years after the Vietnam war a 300 million price tag has been placed on the most contentious legacy, agent orange. A U.S panel and Vietnamese panel got together to take action. Together they released an action plan urging the U.S government and other donors to donate 30 million a year to help clean up the places that still contain agent orange. They are asking for 30 million dollars, for over 10 years. The donations will also be used to help pay for the suffering of the Vietnamese people who have disabilities. Agent orange was dumped into the area by the U.S military over the South Vietnamese to destroy their crops, and jungle cover shielding communist guerilla fighters.
I think that a lot of countries suffer, and the U.S, usually has a small part, or a big part to do with it. I am glad that they made that action.

Tuesday !
This morning I read about a 13 year old little girl who got stabbed by her boyfriend. Not only did the 13 year old get stabbed, but she had a baby at the young age of 13 by her 14 year old boyfriend. Police were called at about 12:35 a.m to B avenue near East 5th. The 14 year old boy lives with his parents. The girl was stabbed with a kitchen knife over some jealousy issues. The girl was taken to Rady Children's hospital, she is also expected to recover. The boy is was arrested on a Wednesday by detectives. He will probably face criminal charges, but will be treated as a juvenile.
I think that this story is crazy. I don’t think little kids should even be in relationships. I think that teen relationships suck.

This morning I read about a man from Tijuana who was accused of faking to be an immigration officer or attorney to financially defraud undocumented immigrants was arraigned Tuesday in federal court. Armando Garcia, 58, was charged in a 16-count indictment. He was charged with mail fraud and identity theft. Elizabeth Alcocer, 47, who is accused of being his co-conspirator, was charged the same as Armando. She is in Albuquerque and will be brought to San Diego. The indictment, issued by a federal grand jury in San Diego on April 30, was unsealed Tuesday. The defendants were arrested Monday following a yearlong investigation by agents from U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement and the Department of Homeland Security. The defendants formed a company in 2001 called California Legal Services that operated out of Pico Rivera in Los Angeles County, authorities said. They posed as immigration officers or attorneys who could influence the actions of the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, the indictment said. They charged fees to undocumented immigrants who were trying to legally immigrate or legalize their status. The immigrants thought they were being legally represented. The defendants collected fees totaling more than $120,000 from 11 victims, and their may be even more victims.
I think what these people did was very smart, but now they have to pay sever consequences.

Thursday !
This morning I read about a fire that was started on purpose. The fire was a half-acre of brush and was really close to reaching Spring Valley preschool . This incident occurred on Thursday, and the fire was extinguished by firefighters. The blaze was reported at 12:44 p.m. on Rothgard Road near Sweetwater Springs Boulevard. It threatened a Kinder Care Learning Center, which was evacuated, said San Miguel Fire Department spokesman Leonard Villarreal. Sheriff’s deputies have detained some people that might have been the cause of this fire. “The fire did run right up to the playground. It was a small fire, but it created a lot of potential for danger” A beehive was disturbed by the fire, and firefighters had to spray foam on the bees in order to get close to the fire.
I think that it is so stupid for someone to start a fir eon purpose. I am also kind of mad about his story because my mom used to work at a preschool in Spring Valley. I also wonder how the police have even figured out who could possible be responsible for this.
