Monday-today I read about how A man opened fire at a Texas roller skating rink during a birthday party for one of his children, killing his estranged wife and four of her family members before turning the gun on himself. Tan Do, 35, and Trini Do, 29, were hosting the party at the Roller World Skating Rink in the Dallas suburb of Grand Prairie, Texas, on Saturday for one of their two children. Others who were killed included Trini Do's sisters, Lynn Ta, 16, and Michelle Ta, 28; her brother, Hien Ta, 21; and her sister-in-law, Thuy Nguyen, 25. It appears the suspect targeted his estranged wife and her family members About 30 people were attending the party at the time of the shooting, but the roller rink was not open to the public, police said. Employees of the rink were not injured. Witnesses were interviewed by police, and the police department's crisis counselors and chaplain were working with the survivors.
Monday- Today I read about a serial killer that was found guilty. Anthony Sowell was found guilty in connection with the kidnapping, abuse of corpses and aggravated murder of 11 women around Cleveland between 2007 and 2009. Sowell had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity to all 85 counts against him, which also included rape and tampering with evidence. The verdict -- which makes the defendant eligible for the death penalty, a decision that will come during the sentencing phase of the proceedings -- came after more than three weeks of testimony, with the prosecution resting its case against him Monday.

Tuesday- Today I read about a man that shot up a roller skate rink. When this man opened fire at that rink it was during a little boys birthday party. The birthday party belonged to one of the own guys son and it was in Texas. This man killed his own wife and also took the lives of four of his wife's family members. After he murdered all of them he pointed the gun on himself. The man shot himself right in the head. The mans name was Tan Do and he was thirty five years of age. Police responded to a call of a shooting at 7:10 p.m. Saturday. Officers found the bodies of five people and a sixth person the suspect with a gunshot wound to the head and four other people who had sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Today I read an article titled Global Warming Melts Arctic Ice, Releasing Banned Toxins. This article talks about chemicals being released by melt such as DDT, lindane and chlordane, the antagonists of Rachel Carlson´s 1962 environmental book "Silent Spring."The persistent organic pollutants (Pops) are banned under the 2004 Stockholm Convention and can cause cancer and birth defects. They take a very long time to degrade and can accumulate over time so it is dangerous. Canadian and Norwegian scientists have measured the amount of Pops in the air between 1993 and 2009 and found that a trend began around 2004 and to this day still continues.

In today’s news, I read about a highway construction worker who has been injured by a car that entered a closed freeway ramp in Riverside. Barry Steele , 50, works for a Caltrans subcontractor. California Highway Patrol says he was on a state route 91 onramp Wednesday when a Mazda doing 60 mph zoomed past road closure signs and grazed a Caterpillar loader , hit a concrete k-rail and struck him. Also, a CHP spokeswoman tells the San Bernardino Sun that the driver was hospitalized with injuries from the crash will be arrested after treatment, as well for 52 year old Barry Steele of Beaumont is being hospitalized Thursday in critical condition.

In today’s news, a man died Sunday night after an inner tube accident on Mission Bay. It was said that the accident happened at Ski Beach and the man was found about 10 minutes later and that at least two people called 911 reporting they had seen his body floating in the water. Lerum said the man had been wearing a life jacket that was not on him when he was found. He said the device was too small for the man and may have been improperly fastened. It appeared that the floating device was not properly inflated and that the inside part of the tube had separated from an outside sheath the held it. Although nobody knows how he died and no one saw what happened but its possible he had become entangled in the tow rope and was dragged underwater . So , police are in investigating the incident.

In today news, a woman was injured when her paraglider collided with another at the Torrey Pines Gliderport in La Jolla. It was said that the accident happened about 2:30 pm Sunday and San Diego lifeguard Lt. Andy Lerum described it as a “mid-air collision.” The woman was a student pilot and was said whom fell about 40 feet and was taken to the hospital. The male paraglider involved in the collision was not hurt. But , there are a lot of rules and learning that goes on in that industry said it is very regimented . But , they are sure they will be looking into how and why the accident happened.

In today’s news, I read about a driver who was killed late Sunday in a fiery crash on a freeway off a ramp. It was said that the man was heading west on state Route about 11:35 pm. When he exited at Euclid Avenue , failed to negotiate a turn and then ran off the roadway and into a tree. Said that the 2003 Kia Rio burst into flames . When firefighters extinguished the fire , and they found the man’s body the CHP said. & no yet he has not been identified.

In today’s news, a suspect who robbed the Ralphs in Point Loma is still at large Sunday evening .It was said that the suspect entered the grocery store Saturday , and walked to the pharmacy counter and simulated a weapon before making a demand. The robber , described as a white man in his 40’s , 5 feet 8 inches with a thin build left the store and was last seen walking northbound toward the Kobey's Swap Meet and said to be he was wearing a white t – shirt with a green and black design , black hat , and possibly a fedora.
Wednesday- today I read about an owner of an art store was smuggling some sort of art form. The art store is located in Philadelphia. The owner of the art store was arrested Tuesday and was charged for smuggling and conspiracy for illegally importing and selling African elephant ivory. The art store owners name is Victor Gordon and is sixty eight years of age. Federal agents seized approximately 1 ton of ivory from Victor Gordon's African art store which was one of the largest government seizures of ivory on record. If he is convicted of the charges against him, Gordon could face a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Today I read an article titled Democratic Congressman Accused of "Unwanted Sexual Encounter" With Recent High-School Graduate. Oregon Democrat David Wu. Is being ethically investigated because a young women said some “unwanted sexual activity” occurred. All of this took place last year but David has remind quiet about it all stating that the encounter was consensual.The girl just graduated last year so she is not under age. She´s the daughter of a longtime friend and campaign donor to Wu, and did not contact police after what she described as the unwanted, aggressive sexual activity.Wu has been acting fishy for the last past year though.
Thursday- Today I read about a man that threatened to kill the president of the united states. The man that threatened to kill Obama is twenty one years of age. This twenty one year old man is from Uzbekistan and is staying in Alabama. This guys name is Ulugbek Kodirov. Ulugbek Kodirov sought assistance to kill President Barack Obama, either by shooting him or potentially using explosives for a suicide attack, according to a government affidavit. Ulugbek Kodirov was indicted Tuesday and charged with threatening to kill the president.
Friday- Today I read about two guys that attacked a pilot. This incident happened at the Miami International Airport. These two guys were brothers and they were arrested and charged with aggravated battery after attacking and chasing that pilot. The bizarre incident began on board an American Airlines flight bound for San Francisco on Wednesday evening. Jonathan was intoxicated in the plane and the pilot woke him up and told him he couldn’t fly in his condition. The pilot escorted him out after being punched in the face. Then he was chased through the airport other employees of the airport were able to subdue the brothers until the police came and arrested them.
