In today's CNN news for June 24, 2009, I read that a missing 4 year old girl was found missing. She was found with her mom, and her moms boyfriend. Law enforcements raided a the ranch in a rural San Diego County, and found Haylee Donathan; her mother, Candace Watson; and Robbie Potter, Watson's boyfriend. Watson's boyfriend happens to be a registered sex offender who had ran away from a half way house. No one knows what led police officers to raid the remote morning star ranch.
Today I read about how they want to expand Las Colinas Facility. Las Colinas Facility is the only women jail in the county. Its surrounded by office buildings, shopping centers, and some of the only undeveloped land left in the center of the East County city. Some residents said the jail no longer belongs in what they consider their thriving community. They don’t want one that would be nearly three times bigger. County supervisors on Wednesday, today, will consider approving an estimated $ 308.5 million plan to expand the jail and certify a report spelling out the environmental effects of the project. Santee officials and some residents are clear on their position. They say a larger jail would hurt the city’s image and economic process, decrease property values and possibly increase traffic and crime. A resident said that,” they are doing well. The people who go there are doing well, and things are moving forward. Las Colinas sets us back.” An inmate said that its too crowed and the crowding increases tension among inmates. She said everybody's is like irritated because its too small and that you cant move because its too many people. If supervisors approve the plan and certify the environmental report this week, one of the next steps would be hiring a project management and construction management firm. A new jail could be operating by 2013.
Today I read about a police officer that was acquitted of his charges. From the off duty shooting of a woman and her 8 year old son during a North County traffic dispute 15 months ago. The officers name is Frank White. He was a patrol officer at the time. He will start work again on Monday. a jury found White not guilty of felony gross negligent discharge of a firearm and a misdemeanor count of displaying a gun in an angry of threatening manner. Franks wife who was in the passenger seat of his car when this occurred said he had did in self defense.
Interesting Facts- The woman and her son were both shot.
My Opinion- I think that they did not give him any charges because he is white and can get away with stuff like that the jury was probably all white and plus the cops are crooked and that’s another reason he got away with it. Cops are not CIVIL people. I will DEBATE it and CONFER with everyone and let them know I hate cops.
President Obama has decided to send a U.S. ambassador back to Syria, a dramatic sign of reconciliation between the two countries, senior administration officials tell CNN. The announcement is expected to be made this week. "It's in our interests to have an ambassador in Syria, a senior administration official told CNN Tuesday night. "We have been having more and more discussions, and we need to have someone there to DEBATE. "The official said that the decision was not in any way related to the election crisis in Iran, although the Obama administration has maintained engaging the Syrian regime could weaken Syria's strategic alliance with Iran. Syrian Ambassador to the United States Imad Moustapha said his country had not formally been notified of the decision, but told CNN if this is true, it reflects the genuine desire by the United States to correct the past efforts of the Bush administration and engage Syria. It's good for the United States, it's good for Syria and it's good for the region, Moustapha said. The senior administration officials say Obama has not chosen an individual to serve as ambassador. Once he does, the name must go through an informal vetting process with the Syrians before the president's choice is nominated and CONFERRED. The United States withdrew its ambassador from Syria four years ago in protest at the assassination of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafik Hariri. Washington accuses Syria of being behind the killing of the popular statesman in a massive bombing that also left 22 others dead. Syria denies it, but an ongoing United Nations investigation has found CIVIL indications of Syrian involvement. A charge d'affaires has been the highest-level American diplomat in Damascus since 2005. In anticipation of sending an ambassador back to Syria, Assistant Secretary of State for Diplomatic Security Eric Boswell recently traveled to Syria to examine the security situation there. The United States also is interested in building a new embassy in Damascus. The visit was part of a series of actions between the two sides that could pave the way for dramatically improved ties. Last week U.S. Gen. Ray Odierno, commander of U.S. forces in Iraq, told reporters that "Syria has been taking some action" to stop the flow of foreign fighters into Iraq.
In today news, A former middle-school student who was strip-searched by school official thought that the search wasn’t CIVIL. Savana Redding was 13 when administrators CONFER that she was carrying banned drugs. She has took her complaint to supreme court on DEBATING on suing the school . The school had a near-zero-tolerance policy for all prescription and over-the-counter medication, including the ibuprofen, without prior written permission. Savana was ordered to strip to her underwear and to pull on the elastic of the underwear, so any hidden pills might fall out, according to court records. No drugs were found.
