MONDAY-- A young teenage boy was in a fatal car crash on late Monday. He was a graduating senior; due to graduate on May 27 this year. To his friends, he was known as Hoff, but to his family he was known as Michael Hoffman. The police say there is an adequate amount of questions on whether or not speeding was a contribution to the crash. They say there is no doubt that drugs and alcohol was not an attribution to the crash. He was pronounced dead at approximately 6:15 that night. Friends say it must be something else because he was a safe driver, and that he wouldn’t speed. He drove a much loved 1995 Pontiac Firebird. They say he took care of his car and was a safe driver. He was said to have been speeding, lost control of the car and crashed into a pole. I think they shouldn’t have made this so well known, and especially not with the police allegations. They should have waited till they got all of the facts. I would be mad if I died and all of these rumors about how I passed away were going around.

Monday- Today I read about all the ATM thefts and what it’s doing to our community a lot of the ATM owners like Banks and such are starting to put more restraints and locks on the ATM machine so that they will not be stolen by any type of theif. I think that no matter what people do to try and stop things from happening the criminals will find a way to overcome and overpower to get what they want. Because if the criminal wants something that criminal will learn new ways and gain new techniques to get what the criminal wants. The security steps they are taking will help improve the chance of them not being stolen by criminals. I also read about the mother owl and her new born baby chicks. I think they are really cute and really small. They got really big eyes which will help them later on in life. The last picture of them was April 11 and I hope I see more soon.

Monday-
An Escondido teen was mourned on a Monday, after being in a fatal car collision. He was a high school senior who was due to graduate May 27. His friends called him "Hoff," and he was a classic-rock buff who adored Van Halen and taught himself to play guitar. Michael Hoffman's friends and schoolmates placed bouquets at the foot of the wooden power pole that bore the marks of the crash that killed Michael. Hoffman, 18, was driving north on Broadway about 5:50 p.m. on his way home when he lost control of his '95 Firebird at a stop sign at North Ave. Paramedics provided first aid and brought him to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead and 6:15 p.m.
I believe this is a very tragic story. I'm sure annually, Michael's family will grieve their loss on the day of his death. He had many good attributes to him, and expressed himself as a wonderful young man. Michael's family had adequate support in their loss.

In today's news I read about an investigation of a little ten years old boy who reported that he was getting kidnapped in Bay Terraces. The little boy told officers that he was riding his bike alone on Manzana Way near Westbrook Avenue like about 7:10 p.m. Sunday when the man got out of his car and chased him trying to grab him. The little boy was able to elbow him and get away. The police has been around were the scene occurred and haven't found no clues or any witnesses. There wasn’t any surveillance cameras around the scene so they couldn’t captured any image of suspect. The man was described as a white male near his 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches, heavy weight with brown hair. He was wearing a grey short sleeve t shirt and some black shorts and latex gloves. He was driving a dull red two door sedan during the scene.

Today I read an article about a little boy who drowned in a swimming pool. Noah Hale, 3, was found face down in his pool at home by his mother not responding. He was taken by helicopter to Grady Hospital they tried to revive him, but they were not very sucessful.

I feel very bad for Noah and his family. That is very sad. It was a very unfortunate event. I hope the family is okay and at peace. I also they arent pointing the finger to blame because that just makes things worse.

This morning I read about how in Lahore Pakistan the government ordered Internet service providers to block Face book. They were angered over a page that encouraged users to post images of Islam's Prophet Muhammad. There has been a lot of criticism because many Muslims believe no images of the Prophet should be published. The government took action after a group of Islamic lawyers won a court order Wednesday requiring officials to block Face book until May 31. In Southern cities of Karachi, about 2,000 female students rallied. Hey demanded that face book be banned for tolerating the page. Several dozen male students held a rally nearby urging Islamic holy war against those who blaspheme the prophet.
I think this story is kind of over the top. I have never heard of banning face book. They take their religion very seriously. The face book ban is said to only be a temporary solution.

Monday- Today I read an article about a man who robbed a bank in Downtown. The bank was a Wells Fargo bank and gave a guy an undisclosed amount of cash and took off. The man ran north of the bank and was said to have been seen by Horton Plaza. It was said that there was another man who found a few hundred dollars at the mall. The man then took the money to a security office and the money was then under investigation. The man was said to be a black male in his late thirty’s. The bank said that they are awaiting for some information leading to this case. The police are on high alert in Downtown.
This was a good article because it gave good information about the suspect. There should be a better security in banks because of these situations. I think that the man who found the money should be rewarded.
I learned that there really are good Samaritans out there.

Tuesday- Today I read about true colors and this kindergartner Giancarlo Poledrelli taking a relaxed approach to coloring with chalk at Heritage Elementary School in Chula Vista on Wednesday. A sixth grader has his hands covered with blue chalk while working on an art piece inspired by the movie avatar. The students at this school were celebrating an annual chalk festival by creating murals with scenes from children's literature and popular culture. I think the kid’s are being very creative with their art work and it’s coming out really nice. I can see how it’s coming out and it is looking good already. I also think it’s good for the school to include the kindergartners in this event. I also read about a man that wanted to kill himself in a garage he stated he had a gun and wanted to kill himself. I think that guys like this are just dramatic and trying to gain some type of attention from their loved one’s. their desperate that’s what I think.

In today's news I read about the FBI has released surveillance photos of an armed man who robbed a Wells Fargo Bank on Tuesday afternoon. The robbery occurred about 2:20 p.m. at the bank on West Valley Parkway near West 11th Avenue. The man gave the teller a demand note. While she was reading it, the robber reached across his waist and withdraw a black semiautomatic pistol, then pointed it at her. The robber placed cash in a small black bag and walked out of the lobby. The robber was described as black in his mid-20s to early 30s, about 6 feet 2 inches tall with a medium build and bald. He was wearing a black suit, a black dress shirt and sunglasses.

Tuesday- today I read an article about ATM machines. The article stated that there have seriously been many issues with these machines. The county stores have put out rewards on finding some of these thieves. The thing is most victims have needed to repair large amounts of damage done to their building. These devices are said to be bringing in more cost than actually giving money to the owners. The machine makers have put out word for owners to buy security for most of their machines. The thing is that they seem to be a little costly and victims don’t want to pay as much. The police are really going to start cracking down on these thieves and are not going to tolerate anything.
This was a really good article because the police have once again stated what they are going to do. I think that the police just gets into the conversation to look good. In my opinion the cops barge in because they don’t want people to think they are not doing their job when they really aren’t.
I learned that police never do anything but catch criminals that don’t do that bad of things.

Former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick is heading to prison.
Wayne County Judge David Groner sentenced him to one and half to five years.
Kilpatrick was escorted out of the courtroom in handcuffs and will be transported to Jackson, where he will be processed and soon learn which prison will become his new home.
Before the sentencing, Groner spent more than 20 minutes discussing what led to this court hearing in the first place Kilpatrick's attorney Michael Schwartz told Groner that his client is sorry. He said his client has been cooperative and has made payments.
Schwartz denied that Kilpatrick asked anyone to help pay his restitution. He said that people who came forward and helped pay the money did it on their own.
Throughout Schwartz's appeal, Kilpatrick sat with his hand over his face. He looked straight on, never even looking at his attorney.
Schwartz repeated over and over that Kilpatrick is not and has not "thumbed his nose at this court," Schwartz said.
Schwartz said sending Kilpatrick to jail won't do anyone any good. He said he won't be able to make his payments to the city.

This morning I read about how the ATMS thefts are affecting everybody, especially the businesses themselves. ATM machines are being ruined, smashed, and stolen. Since January, 24 there has been 17 reported ATM thefts for the entire year. ATM thefts have not just been happening in San Diego, they have been happening all over the nation. They have been happening a lot in California, Texas, and Florida, and in Europe, Australia, and South Africa. ATM’s are worth way more than the money that’s inside the ATM. If you ask a bank worker he or she will probably just give you the money. It cost a lot to repair the ATM machines. To stop the thefts, businesses have to take more security steps in alarms, sensors, just for the ATMS, which cost a lot of money, and some businesses are not willing to do that.
I think that they should invest in security because in the long run it is going to save them a lot of money. I also think that people who commit theft like the people stealing ATM machines, should have very bad consequences. I think it is unfair that people get away with this, especially since they are just being lazy and stealing others peoples money.

On the Tuesday morning newspaper I read about how cyclist named Floyd Landis finally admits to the accusation of doping his body to get prepared for races, after years of denying that he used banned drugs Landis has spent over a million dollars in legal fees to proclaim his innocence. According to the wall street journal and other media sources its said that Landis has sent emails to top cycling officials admitting that he used performance enhancing drugs and also as well as implicating Armstrong Landis reportedly outlines how he used testosterone, anabolic steroids, endurance booster, and illicit blood transfusion during his career because of this terrible mistake he decided to make they took away some of his championships.

Tuesday- ‘Prince of Pot’ pleads guilty to federal charges. Canada’s “prince of pot,” Marc Emery pleaded in a deal with prosecutors that could send him to prison in the United States for five years. Marijuana activist Marc Emery pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Seattle, Washington, to a single count of conspiracy to manufacture marijuana following an 18-month investigation into the seed-selling business Emery operated from his head shop in Vancouver, British Columbia. Investigators also traced his product to illegal growing operations in several states, the U.S. Attorney's Office said in a July 2005 news release. A statement issued by the DEA in 2005 after Emery's arrest suggested that he was targeted for his activism, with DEA Administrator Karen Tandy touting his capture as a "significant blow not only to the marijuana trafficking trade in the United States and Canada, but also to the marijuana legalization movement.“Tandy described Emery as one of 46 of the U.S. attorney general's most wanted international drug traffickers and the only one from Canada, with his "marijuana trade and propagandist marijuana magazine" generating nearly $5 million in profits. He'll go to jail to prove how absurd our drug laws are. Marc has many great attributes to him, such as being a peace activist and the struggle for protesting the legalization for marijuana. He has more than an adequate number of fans, who all support him in his doings. I believe Marc Emery also have annually speeches, giving his opinions and beliefs.

WEDNESDAY-- This years death rates are expected to drop by over two million. On average, there has been a two percent decrease in the death rate of children a year. These statistics are taken from 1990-2010. The efforts that have been taken are vaccinations, supplements, and better treatment of diseases. They are predicting to have better results throughout the upcoming years. They are most pleased with the health results in Africa. It is very encouraging for them to keep trying with their efforts. The most deaths occur throughout South Asia and Africa. I think this is meaning our economy is benefiting from their efforts. Even though these efforts haven’t directly effected me, I am happy that they are trying so hard help the future generations all over the world. I am pleased that nutritionists and doctors are putting time towards the kids, and hope it continues even after the death rates have improved to as little as possible.

A decrease in children’s death rate is surprising. Death rates in children younger than 5 are dropping at a surprising rate. Worldwide, 7.7 million children are expected to die this year-an enormous number, but a vast improvement of the 1990 figure, 11.9 million. On average, death rate have dropped about 2 percent. Even in Africa, where children barely have adequate needs met, such as food and water. The future looks has many attributes to looking bright. Annually, statistic researchers calculate the increase and decrease in death rates.

Wednesday- Today I read about a Nigerian Schoolboy who stands tall among all of the San Diego State University graduates. This kid came to the united states when he was 14 years old. He came because his family sent him here to learn and have a better life and to go to school and make something of himself. I think that this guy is really strong to come to a place all alone that he knows nothing about and to come and live with relatives that he doesn’t know. I also think that this kid has some strong qualities about himself. Because look he made it he graduated college with a bachelors in biology. I also read about Jewel to do a duet with technology. Her interactive concerts is responding to changes. Jewel didn’t try her luck at the gaming tables after her May 16 concert at Pechanga Casino in Temucula.

Today I read an article about the Western Conference Finals in the NBA. I read the story that covered the 7 game series between the Lakers and the Suns. Yesterday the suns won their second straight game to tie the series at two games a piece. Despite kobe’s 38 point contribution along with 10 assists they still lost. Game five will be Thursday on TNT. Kobe had an interview after the suns won their second game in a row. He said that the main reason for their loss was lack of playing physical defense. Not because they didn’t get him the ball or not scoring enough points, just playing lousy defense.

This morning I read a story about a ridiculous young man who was a suspect in a Colorado home invasion. Anthony Brandon Gonzales, 20, was already in jail on a separate drug charge, police have now charged him in the April burglary as well. A witness told police that one of the invaders had “East Side” tattooed on his upper lip. Gonzales also has a “13” tattooed on his chin in the shape of a goatee. According to an affidavit, the tattoos were visible even though Gonzales was wearing a mask. I think it is funny that his ridiculous tattoos ATTRIBUTED to him getting busted. I don’t think that he has an ADEQUATE amount of brain cells. He's so stupid that he didn’t make sure his distinctive face tattoos were covered.

In today’s news I read about the oil spill of the gulf of Mexico its pushing at least 12 miles into Louisiana’s marshes, and also two major pelican rookeries are now coated in crude. This oil spill has already stretched across 150 miles. Louisiana has started to work on a chain of sandbag berms to try and keep clean the states coast line. Also operator BP is making an effort that will begin on Tuesday at the earliest and throw heavy mud, and then cement into the blown well. About 65 miles of louisiana coast line had been dirty with oil and that affected the pelicans and a porpoise. Jindal urged the army corps of engineers to immediately approve a plan to build artificial barrier islands of sand to hold back the oil .

This morning I read about a case that happened in Tehran, Iran. Iran’s intelligence minister said on Sunday that there is a chance that they might let some prisoners go. They arrested 3 Americans Sarah Shourd, Shane Bauer, and Josh Fattal. They were all three arrested passed the border. The three people are also accused of espionage, and entering the country illegally. They said that they were just hiking, and if they passed the border it was a complete accident. The Minister Haidar said that the status of the three Americans is “clear and an obvious case”.
I think that if the three Americans were espionages, they will not be arrested once they come back to America. I also think that Iran is just mad about all the political problems and just want to get Americans in trouble.

In today’s paper I read an article about toxic waste. In our everyday life we use a lot of PVC. Worried about toxic waste and chemical exposure, more and more companies and hospitals are moving away from polyvinyl chloride. You may think you annually use this product but you use it more then you think. Adequate’s are concerned of the way these PVC products disposed of. The PVC products have toxic attributes, and can be very harmful to the environments. I think they should brainstorm what to do about this issue, before its to late.

Wednesday- Today I read an article about more contraband smuggling in the border. There were 1,335 pounds of marijuana found on some Mexican national. Officials stated that the man was trying to cross the drugs inside concrete furniture. They found the contraband inside the furniture after going into secondary inspection. The man is in San Diego County jail and his name is not going to be released. The drugs were founded after a service dog gave the signal. There were about 140 bricks that were being crossed. The border patrol really is cracking down on drug smuggling.
This was an unusual article because I never heard of anyone crossing drug inside concrete. The Border patrol is really cracking down but there is still many ways for people to smuggle drugs in. I think that this may cause a war between the drug cartel leaders and agents.
I learned that there are a lot of people still crossing drugs over.

THURSDAY-- In today's addition of The Union Tribune, I read about tummy fat. I learned about how you gain weight in your stomach, what fat does to your body, and ways to avoid more weight gain. There are two different kinds of fat that form in your stomach. Between visceral fat and subcutaneous fat, the one that is worse for you is visceral fat. That is the actual fat you can pinch; try to keep that to a minimum. You an gain weight based on genetics, aging, and the things you eat. Aging causes tummy fat to increase because of the hormone fluctuations. Smokers also have a tendency to maintain more fat in the abdominal area. The best ways to watch weight gain in your stomach is to watch what you consume; food, nicotine, and alcohol. Beer is the biggest source of calories. I think its cool that the newspaper is into health. I would like to know more on what the effect stomach fat does to your body. Exercise is a big part of weight loss also. I think they should try to make beer healthier for drinkers.

Thursday- Today I read an article about a woman who was shot. The woman was shot by her partner in the thigh. The article stated that it all began as an argument and got a little violent. The suspect then shot her girlfriend and fled. The police are out on a search for the suspect and probably caught her by now. The suspect is said to be convicted of 19 years to a state prison. The victim was not in a serious condition but is also in custody of the hospital. This article stated that the suspect will be charged with about eight different counts of felonies.
I think that the suspect should be in prison for a really long time. The reason is because if a man would of done that he would never see daylight again. The article did state at the end that the suspect was in custody so that is good.
I learned that when a woman gets charged with a DV against another woman it is less serious than a man against a woman.

Thursday- Today I read about a British couple kidnapped by Somali pirates in the Indian Ocean last year said in a videotaped message they "desperately need" new British Prime Minister David Cameron to clarify whether he will work to secure their release. Paul and Rachel Chandler, from Kent in southern England, were taken from their yacht near the Seychelles Islands in the Indian Ocean in October. A local journalist interviewed the couple in a rural location in Somalia last week, according to CNN affiliate ITN. The journalist paid no money to the pirates, who stood behind the camera during the interview, ITN reported. I think that the pirates are crazy and they don’t need the couple so why keep them either let them go or leave them in a island so they can fend for themselves I mean if I got kid napped by pirates I would do my best to escape somehow. I mean like I know they are trying to so I guess it would be hard being surrounded by water.

The raw sprouts were sold in Alabama, California, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Nevada, Oregon, and Wisconsin. The FDA said last week the alfalfa sprouts appear to have sickened at least 22 people in 10 states, including 11 people in California. The sprouts were sold in at least seven other stores including Trader Joe’s. I think it is disgusting that food a store in selling could ATTRIBUTE to sickening people. I don’t think the FDA is ADEQUATELY involved in the safety in consuming these foods.

They Would have known if the drug cartels were up to this because they would have sent the “a very clear message.” Diego’s oldest son that he does not want the government involved.

Thursday- Today I read an article based on cadmium dangers. Walmart has been selling a line of Miley Cyrus jewelry since September. The Associated Press found the jewelry contained high levels of the toxic metal cadmium. Walmart said they would remove the jewelry off the shelves, but hasn’t done so yet. Cadmium in jewelry isn’t known to be dangerous if the items are simply worn. Concerns come when youngsters bite or suck on the jewelry, as many children are apt to do. For reasons not fully understood, girls ages 6 to 11- an age range that includes many Hannah Montana fans – appear to be more at risk from cadmium. Data from a major national study found girls of that age absorb more cadmium than any other children and adults. I assume toxicologists do annual studies on cadmium. Walmart must have adequate non-toxic jewelry for consumers. Cadmium has many attributes as stated above, and can lead to bone softening and kidney failure.

What I read in today’s CNN news for August 17, 2009 was about a man who was sent to prison for 23 years due to an accusation that was stated false 23 years later. Ernest Sonnier was arrested and charged with rape and kidnapping. He was 23 at the time he was arrested. Now after 23 years he is now 46 years old. A week a half ago a prosecutor informed Sonnier that DNA evidence stated that he didn’t commit the crime that he was accused of doing. The DNA results led back to two other men who were already in the system. The two men cannot be arrested because of the statue of limitations has expired. So basically Sonnier has served time in prison for those two men. The lab in Houston has been accused to ineptitude, corruption, suffered flooding, and water leakage which led the corruption to genetic materials. Due to many incidents which led innocent people to jail, the district attorney stated that DNA be reexamined preventing due accusations. My opinion is that I feel bad for Sonnier. He spent 23 years in prison for nothing.

FRIDAY-- Scientists are trying to create a new method for homeland security. The small robots are eleven pounds, and one foot by one foot. They start off by taking a small robot, about the size of a large dinner plate, and install chips that help it detect chemical and biological attacks. These robots are known as the Switchblades,. UCSD is conducting the experiment. This research is supported by the U.S. military, and is said to be able to help them in Afghanistan if proven to be efficient. UCSD is not the only ones conducting this study. Massachusetts has also been doing a little bit of experiments on their own. Their robots are for surveillance. They should come together and try to work together to make the most efficient robots. I wouldn’t trust a robot all the way. They always seem to have some type of technical difficulty or malfunction in some way.

Friday- Today I read an article about a man convicted of a murder. The man was accused of killing a thirty four year old man over a discussion. The discussion was about the victim owing the suspect five dollars. The article also stated that the suspect was trying to buy crack cocaine off of the victim. The suspect is on his second trial for this murder. This murder happened back in August of 2009 and he is still on trial. The article was stating that the man that was killed was also a drug user and actually sold drugs. The suspect was arrested three days later after being searched in a motel. Officials stated that the victim was done selling to the suspect for that reason he ended up dead.
This was a really dumb but interesting story. I think that when you’re a drug user you will do anything to get high. I also think that the victim should have been the one who was armed.
I learned that people on drugs are capable of killing for only five dollars.

BP has measured some success in the Gulf of Mexico with a risky procedure known as "top kill" which has never been tried before a mile under the ocean's surface, says an adequate. The oil flow stopped when heavy drilling mud was being pumped into the well at high pressure, but it was too early to tell whether the operation will attribute to keeping oil from gushing out. I think there gonna do a annual clean up, because its too expensive.

This morning I read about a 2 year old who was attacked by a pit-bull. The two year old boy got mauled by his own family dog. The two year old passed away early Friday morning. Animal Control Officers took the dog into their custody. This incident took place in San Bernardino. The little boy was viscously attacked, and the attacked was trying to be stopped by the parents, but the pit-bull had already hurt the little boy to much once they pulled the pit-bull off.
I think this is a sad story. I heard that pit bulls can turn on their owner, but this little boy was barely born and it is so sad that he only lived for two years.

In today’s news, they say that the internet as we know it is reaching its limits. Within 18 months it is estimated that the number of new devices able to connect to the world wide web will run out as we run out of IP addresses. The unique codes that provide access to the internet for everything are called IP addresses. They say the internet may not be able to grow but it will still function. After September 11 they say will be the last time there will be a big batch of addresses that will be available and there will no longer be any available after that. There may be a solution to this problem if we act quickly enough.
