Pacaya is located about 18 miles (30 kilometers) south of Guatemala City.

This morning I read about the bald eagles that live on the Channel Islands. I learned that the bald eagles count has been declining since 1940’s to 1970’s. The bald eagles have been declining due to the contamination like DDT and other chemicals that were dumped in the ocean off the Palos Verdes Peninsula. All the chemicals caused the eagle eggs to be so thin that they would dehydrate or break to early. There has not been so many bald eagles on the Channel Islands in 50 years. This year 15 bald eagles hatches this year, making a recovery in count. Another problem for the bald eagles have been trying to fly off the island to mainland. The baby eagles are usually to young to fly and they fall in the water, and can not get up.
I just realized and have been realizing that the human impact is not good for animals at all. If people are so worried about animals going extinct they should just mind their own, and leave the animals alone, also stop contamination ! I think animals do better when they live on their own, in their habitats that should not be messed with.

Tuesday- today I read an article on border patrol cruelty. The article was about a man that was trying to cross the border. The border patrol commented that when the man was trying to get across and got a little combative. The thing was that the immigrant was trying to get back to his family of six after being deported a few days earlier. The man died from a heart attack after being hit with a stun gun. The man was trying to get across with his brother but failed to do so. The border patrol is trying to say that it was not intentionally. The Mexican media is outraged and are planning on doing something about this.
This was a really sad article because a man was trying to get back to his family and ended up dead. The border patrol is acting like nothing happened and that’s the sad part. I think that there should be a law against using force on immigrants.
I learned that the border patrol is really cruel and are probably going to start killing other immigrants.

In today's news I read about a 12 year old little girl who a man tried calling her to go with him into his car as she was making her way to school. The girl was standing at Palomar Street and Third Avenue like about 8 a.m. when the guy approached her as he was pulling up across the street from her were he was at parked at a gas station. The man then drove to another gas station and asked her to come over in Spanish, the girl then got panic and frightened, she then ran across the street were this one lady was standing and stood behind her. The man stop following her when she got to the lady that was standing on the bus stop waiting for the bus. The woman then walked the little girl who was terrified to school and reported the incident to school grounds. The report was then transfer to the CVPD and they took it from there.

In today’s news, a man walked into a North Carolina Target store and shot an employee he had had a previous relationship with before turning the gun on himself. A Target worker says, "Target is deeply saddened by the loss of one of our team members and the tragic event that took place at our Apex, North Carolina, store shortly after 11 a.m. Sunday morning, the store was immediately evacuated following the incident and we are cooperating fully with law enforcement in its investigation."The victim and suspect had been in a relationship that ended several years ago. She was in the store at her cash register Sunday morning when he came in and shot her, the man died of self-inflicted gunshot wounds. The store will be closed Sunday and counselors would be made available at the store.

In today’s paper I read an article about a new injunction. In Oceanside the judge has passed another injunction toward street gangs. The new laws make it hard for gang members to confer. They insist of No Gang colors, Not being able to associate with fellow gang members, & flash hand signs. Some might think this violates all of our Civil Rights, while others debate over whether its going to help or not. They have a similar gang injunction in southeast San Diego. I think this is all just another way to fill up prisons and juvenile halls.

TUESDAY-- A well respected Pearl Harbor soldier has passed away. John Finn passed away Thursday at the age of one hundred. The people that know him well say he loved to tell stories about his beloved war stories, and had a great memory. He remembered all of his buddies from the war, and just about everything that happened to him during war. One of the main stories he told was the one where he was stationed at an open post and fired at from planes above. He was hit twenty one times, but still wouldn’t stop. He would see men in worse shape then him and push his self to keep going. He has meet every President since Franklin D. Roosevelt, including Obama. Obama said he was a very kind man, and admired his heroism. He was sick for a week, and then passed away. He died in Chula Vista after being at a Veterans Retirement home. His last wish was to be buried next to his beloved wife, Alice. I have great admiration for Mr. John Finn. What he did at pearl Harbor was amazing and extremely appreciated. Its amazing that he was the oldest one to still be alive from Pearl Harbor. Since there is only 19 Medal of Honor recipients left, it is amazing to see how far we have come since the time of the Pearl Harbor.

Wednesday- “Don’t ask, don’t tell” repeal clears House. Voters set stage to overturn military’s policy on gays. The House on Thursday delivered a victory to President Barack Obama and gay-rights groups by approving a proposal to repeal the law that allows gays to serve in the military only if they don’t disclose their sexual orientation. The 234-194 vote to overturn the military’s “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy reflected a view among many in Congress that America was ready for a military in which gays and straights can stand side by side in trenches. I am relieved Barack Obama is trying to pass this law. He is trying to infuse civil rights into the military, which isn’t something that happens very often. I’m quite sure there were many debates on this subject, but I hope this law passes. In the House, Obama conferred to help us live as one. If I was in the military getting shot at, I wouldn’t care if the guy next to me is gay or not- he is there to help save my life.

In today’s paper I read an article about an Mass Murder that happened in the united kingdom. A taxi driver went on a rampage threw a small town in the UK. Cambria police have found the body of the suspect which has been wounded. The police were called to the scene when shot were fired, the alleged man hit many people & at least five were killed. Now Law Enforcement debate over whether the gunman conferred with any others. I think For the civil life's of others Law enforcement should do better job in protecting citizens life's.

In today's news I read about three people who were hospitalized and a drunk driver suspect who got arrested on Wednesday after they crashed and left the car split in two. The four drivers were driving on Interstate 15 to south Interstate 5 about 1 in the morning when the driver lost control of the car and hot one of the dividers. The driver was driving in a very high speed and that why he lost control of the car. The impact ripped the car apart and sent the back half to the other side of the highway. A traffic alert was issued until about 3:10 in the morning, and the traffic was diverted to the north bound in the I-5 while the authorities investigate what happen. The CHP officer said that there were evidence that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

In today’s news, A Washoe County, Nevada, jury Wednesday sentenced a Nevada pipe fitter to death for the killing of a 19-year-old student in a string of attacks that rattled the university community in Reno two years ago. James Michael Biela was convicted last week of first-degree murder and sexual assault in the death of Brianna Denison. He also was convicted of two counts of sexual assault for attacks on two other women and of one count of kidnapping relating to one of those attacks. The jury spent three hours behind closed doors Tuesday night and resumed deliberations Wednesday morning. Denison's mother told them to show no mercy for the man who killed her daughter and sexually assaulted two other college coeds. Denison, a sophomore at Santa Barbara City College in California, was last seen alive on her friend's couch on January 20, 2008. Three weeks later, her body was found in a field near her friend's home. She had been sexually assaulted and strangled.

FRIDAY-- Another sex offender was arrested for attempted kidnapping. His target was a young 19 year old named Maricela Barron. She has always been known to be very shy, and reserved. But that didn’t keep her from doing what she needed to put this sex offender behind bars. She was accompanied by an officer in the search for the man. Barron was able to memorize the license plate number to help track down the car he escaped in. Leonard Scroggins, 32, was identified as the suspect in a recent attempted kidnapping. With all the help from the three, they were able to get this man off the streets of national city in order to make the county a safer place. I think it is very courageous on all the efforts these three have put into in finding this man. It helped that they were able to confer with each other on the facts they had discovered. I would say that they did a good thing, and they did deserve the award they received.

This morning I read a story about a bus driver in Encinitas who was arrested for driving a commercial vehicle while under the influence. On Tuesday, a passenger thought the bus driver may had been drunk, called the Sherriff's department, and deputies arrested the driver. Deputies stopped the north county transit district bus about 4:25 pm as it was heading east on Encinitas Blvd. near Calle Magdalena and determined that the driver showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol. Deputies conducted a field sobriety test and, based on the results, arrested the 40- year-old driver of route 309, which runs from Oceanside to Encinitas, on suspicion of driving a commercial vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. It think that this story is crazy because if you’re driving a bus you are responsible for others lives.

In today's paper I read an article about the death of a local teen. BreAnna & her best friend decided to not drive responsibly and it costed them a life. Despite the fact she was driving legally, she was still not obeying the law. With Bre now dead, & her best friend hospitalized things are getting better. The family of the girl conferred with the media about the situation. Now people debate over whether age cant define whether your ready to drive or not. I think they should take this incident to civil for teens. Not all teens make the mistakes that these females made.

Thursday- the other day I read an article about a Mexican immigrant that was killed by a border patrol agent. The man died after being stunned by a taser gun and was said to have gotten rough with the officers. Well there is another article that stated the story and added the reason for his death. The border patrol is now stating that it was not there fault he died. They are trying to say that he was a drug abuser. He was supposedly a methamphetamine user that had heart problems already. The officers also stated that the man had already came back from not responding but his brain would not respond.
This was a really stupid article that makes me really mad. I think that the border patrol made a mistake and now are covering it by saying he was a drug abuser. I think that they are just making up a story to cover it all up.
I learned that the border patrol are assholes and will not take the responsibilities of their actions.

Friday- Today I read an article about fifty three people who were arrested. The reason for their arrest was that they had an auto repair shop under fraud. The whole thing was planned for the workers as they all told people what they wanted to hear. The thing was as they gave out insurance they made people believe they did insure for their vehicles but didn’t. The whole thing was a fraud to just bring in money for their company. There was also a man who a lot of people might know for starring in a couple TV shows that was also arrested. The people are all being charged with a couple of counts of fraud and will be facing time in jail. The operation was run from one city to another in which had a lot of members.
This was a boring article but this is the only one that I found a little interesting. I think that when it comes down to situations like this the media for TV will be on it like angry bees. The people arrested are dumb for having fraud on something that the police would hear about fast.
I learned that even rich people do things to receive more money.

This morning I read about how marijuana was seized of some boats on the La Jolla coast. U.S Patrol agents detained seven suspects, and 1.4 tons of marijuana. The incident was then followed be a second interception of a Panga about 2:30 a.m. The incident occurred in Ocean Beach, 13 people were taken into custody on suspicion of trying to enter the country illegally. “Its rare for smugglers to bring a large load of marijuana by to boat to La Jolla shored, and a drop off point at Windansea Beach is very unusual”. Since October.1, more than 560 suspects have been taken into custody for violations related to human smuggling, according to the ICE. The overall number are 430 in 2009, and 230 in 2008.
I think that if immigrants want to cross illegally and not get caught, they need to strategize a little better. I really don’t care if Mexican try to cross the border illegally, Chinese people do it all the time, and so do Pacific Islanders and they do not get caught. Mexican are those of Latin descent are the target for Border Patrol, so I could care less, and I would love if more Mexicans came into the U.S.

thursday !
This morning I read about a man who died after being shot with a Taser gun. The man had lived in the U.S for about 27 years, had five children, and worked in construction. Anastacio Hernandez was declared brain dead at the Chula Vista hospital. He also suffered heart failure and was taken off life support on Monday. The reason he was tasered was because he and his brother were arrested on suspicion of illegally crossing the border. As agents were unloading him from the van he started fighting with the Border Patrol Agents. He fell on the floor and he was taken to the hospital. The autopsy is being looked at to see if the taser gun had a big part to do with his death.
I think that the Taser gun had a big part to do with his death, OBVIOUSLY. It is common sense, Anastacio was just fine until he was hit with a Taser gun, and then he becomes brain dead, and has heart failure. I think the newspaper is B.S and people who work for the law, Border Patrol are so fake, and ridiculous, they try to sugar coat a lot of events to not get blamed.

Friday-This morning I read about how age might not be the best way to know when teenagers are ready to drive. There has been a lot of car accidents involving teenagers. A 17 year old just died due to a car accident, and she had just received her license only two months before. California bans first year motorist under 18 from driving passengers younger than twenty. The 17 year old had 4 passengers that were 17. Even after all the rules that the law has made, there are still many risk involved. In many cases teenagers are not ready to drive. Of the 2.1 million motorist 77,400 are teenagers. Police investigates said they did not believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash involving the 17 year old. Only four teens out of five survived, and they all have injuries.
I learned that teenagers are probably not ready to drive, and that If you are a driver under 18 you can not have passengers under 18.
I think that If a teenager is a driver, there must be rules, and I think there is already a rule stating that teenagers cannot drive past a certain time, like 11. I think it sucks, but to many teenagers are dying, and I even know some people who drive under the influence and they are only 16, 17.

Wednesday- Today I went to Disneyland with a few of my class members. It was a really fun experience because it was the first time I ever went. The most fun was a ride called space mountain. I really enjoyed going especially since I feel its like a reward for my graduation. The only thing I thought was outrageous was that a normal one dollar bag of chips was three dollars there. I think that they should stop making really high prices on the food especially and help those who are poor and cant afford to even go there. In the park there were a lot of people from all over the country. I think that we are lucky we are only about two hours away. This should be a class fieldtrip for every graduate.
I think that I would have had a lot more fun if I was younger. The reason is because I feel like I am a little too old for Disneyland. The most fun thing for a kid is Disneyland.
I learned that Disneyland is for people who have money left over after they have paid off all their bills.

friday- The high court loosens Miranda rights rule. Criminal suspects seeking to protect their right to remain silent must speak up to invoke it. Justice Anthony Kennedy’s, writing for the majority in a 5-4 decision that split along familiar ideological lines, did not disturb Miranda’s requirements that suspects be told they have the right to remain silent. The decision followed two in February that also narrowed and clarified the scope of the Miranda decision. One allowed police officers to vary the wording of the warning; the other allowed a second round of questioning of suspects who had invoked their rights so long as two weeks had passed since their release from custody. Tuesday’s case concerned Van Chester Thompkins, a Michigan man accused of shooting a man to death in 2000 outside a mall. Arrested a year later, Thompkins was read his Miranda rights but refused to sign a form acknowledging that he understood them. He remained silent in the face of three hours of interrogation, although he did say his chair was hard and he did not want a peppermint.

Monday- Today I read about the water safety, reporters say they are expecting up to 800,000 people at the beach who they hope act civil this weekend. Beaches, bays, and swimming pools in San Diego County are expected to overflow with people safety guards are reminding people to keep it safe. Summer season is also drowning season, life guards say not to swim alone and stay sober while you are in the water. This is why we love San Diego, and live in this great city.

Wednesday- Today I read about how a senate confers school sports drink ban. Studies have show weight gain is connected to consuming sports drinks that are sold at school. They say its good to not let them consume energy drinks while in school but they will drink it no matter what they say after school hours. Young teens think of it as some one trying to control them and there lives , it is just a drink. Schwarzenegger says there is weight gain ,who was a body builder previously, he is trying to get the bill signed and let it take effect.

Friday- Today I read about a survey that counts at least 300 homeless people and half are women. Half of the women in the Downtown area are homeless with no place or anyone to go to, most are on the street because they lost there jobs or housing. There is a 31 million plan to turn the city owned , former World Trade Center into a homeless facility. The homeless were surveyed and most of them have been living on the streets for a long period of time such as four years and have serious medical conditions. Everyone is trying to do everything they can to save the homeless people that are suffering out in the streets.
