In the city of national city, according to the San Diego Union Tribune, no killing have been made since September 2007. the crime rate has dropped 18% and 17% percent countywide. This does not mean national city is crime free. From January to September of this year there has been a reported 149 aggravated assaults, 130 rapes and 16 rapes. To hire more police officer the community has agreed to a 1% increase in city taxes. So whose to blame for all the crooked cops harassing the residents in national city, especially old town, the residents themselves. The police department has also put gang member’s little brothers on GSU (gang supervision unit). This probation is especially for people who are known to have connections with gang members. While on this program you are also known as a gang member because you know gang members. You are monthly pee tested, and court dated. Police can come in to your house, tear it up to look for any illegal items or objects that can related you to being a gang banger, and have you pick it up after they leave.

What I read in today’s Union Tribune newspaper for December 4, 2008 was that there was a bank robbery at Chula Vista. An armed robber stole a lot of money after the armored truck left on Tuesday afternoon around 4 pm. The robber threatened them that if they don’t do what they’re told they’re going to blow up the whole building. On Pacific Trust Bank, the manager and an employee were leaving the building, then a masked robber went up to them and told everyone to go back in. The robber forced them to all sit down on the floor of a small office. The robber threatened them if they don’t do what’s told, he has a partner just outside the building and if they don’t listen to what they’re told, then they’re going to turn on the bomb. Then the robber took them to the vault and told them to open the small vault. He grabbed a few bags filled with money, and took off with the employees car keys. After 10 minutes, the robber drove off.

The article I read this morning was about how there is going to be more police out in the San Diego County today than an any other football game. Today there is a football game against the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders. The SD county police department won’t give out exactly how many police officers will be out doing there jobs. The reason that there is going to be more officers than at any other home game is because when the Chargers play the Raiders there is more fights and public drinking. The Oakland Raiders have not beaten the San Diego Chargers in 7 years. To reduce the risk of more public drinking at Qualcomm stadium they are going to cut of beer sales after halftime. In other games fans can buy beers until the end of the 3rd quarter. If anyone is found with a glass bottle they will get a ticket that can be up to almost $200.
I think that this is one of the most exciting games in the whole football season. I think that the reason this is the most interesting games is because since Oakland and San Diego are so close there is a lot of Raider fans in San Diego so they get aggressive when the Charger fans offend them. I just hope that the Chargers win and beat the Raiders like they have for 7 years.
An interesting fact that I read was that in the year 200 a La Mesa man was stabbed by a fan from Norwalk.
