Today in the news I read about an ongoing naval investigation. The navy is looking for suspects in a case of a missing 30,000 dollars. The investigation comes after special forces killed three pirates on a U.S. boat. Investigators are talking to anyone who might have had connections with the missing money. The lone surviving pirate demanded the captain to open the ships safe where he took out 30,000 dollars. The pirates reportedly distributed the money amongst themselves but then three of them where killed. None of the money was recovered. The only suspects the navy can question is the navy seals that rescued the captain from this horrible ordeal. I also read about auto maker GM. GM on Monday filled for chapter 11. The company split into pieces and sold off some parts of itself. GM reportedly sold hummer to a secret buyer but will continue to make the car. This secures 3,000 jobs instead of closing vital plants. GM also left behind the Pontiac, SAAB, and Saturn brands.
According to the san Diego Union Tribune I read about a man’s not guilty plea in cashing his dead mother’s checks. A man accused of cashing his deceased mother’s social security and pension checks pleaded not guilty to felony charges yesterday. Rand Washburn, 65, faces two counts of grand theft and allegations he took more than $100,000 from each of two agencies: social security administration and the California public employee’ retirement system. Prosecutor said this was occurring during the time of January 1, 1994 and January 1, 2009. the checks totaled $304,000. If convicted the 65 year old man could face seven years eight months in a state prison. The remains of the mother, 82 were found in January in the backyard of her home in Claremont. The cause of her death has not been determined. The remains were found after the son said he had buried his mother in the backyard. She lived in her house and had not been seen in about 15 years. Defense authority said Washburn had nothing to do with the wrong doing of his mother’s death. He in technical terms can not be charged with murder. And if he did there is not sufficient prove to do so. The prosecutor has to provide the court with proficient evidence witch is hard to get with the mother deteriorating body.
Today I read about a suspect in a fatal shooting that was apprehended in Baja. Ivan Javier Alvarado 31, a suspect in the 2006 shooting death of a San Diego teen. He was detained early yesterday. Ivan had appeared on Americas Most Wanted. A viewers tip had led to his arrest. Ivan is suspected of fatally shooting Manuel Eduardo Chavez 19, in the Oak Park neighborhood. He was visiting residence on Lyle Drive and smoked Crystal Meth with others there. Ivan reportedly came out of a bedroom and saw Manuel there on the sofa and he thought that Manuel had a gun so he shot Manuel and he then died.
Interesting Facts- Ivan is nick named “Ivan the terrible”.
My Opinion- Manuel was only shot once but it was a SUFFICIENT amount to kill him the police did a PROFICIENT job in finding the killer to be TECHNICAL. I think that is sad that he was shot and killed.
In today’s paper I read about how, as of yesterday, U.S. citizens returning through land or sea ports of entry from Mexico, Canada, Bermuda, and the Caribbean must present a passport or one of a handful of accepted documents: a passport card, a “trusted traveler” card such as a Sentri pass or a driver’s license enhanced with radio-frequency technology, issued in some states but not California. The TECHNICALITY went into effect four years after the federal government announced the planned change. United States Customs and Border Patrol agents have said that a SUFFICIENT number of U.S. citizens re-entering the country were carrying a passport-or a receipt for a passport or passport card that they had applied for. In another story, Rachel Silva, who was shot by an off-duty San Diego police officer last year, invoked her Fifth Amendment right against self-incrimination during a hearing yesterday, making it unlikely she will testify during the officer’s upcoming jury trial. Silva, 28, called for the Fifth when asked by the prosecutor whether she had been drinking or doing drugs the day of the shooting. Officer Frank White, 29, is charged with one felony count of grossly negligent discharge of a firearm and one misdemeanor count of exhibiting a firearm. In another story, a masked robber carrying a shotgun locked employees of a Mexican restaurant in a freezer Sunday night after they told him they had already dropped cash into a safe that they couldn’t open. After the man was shown that there was no money in the registers, and that the safe was to PROFICIENT to open without the combination, he locked the employees in the freezer and fled the scene. In another story, San Diego’s county’s four biggest cities see a drop in violent crimes. Violent crimes in San Diego dropped from 6,332 incidents in 2007 to 6,047 in 2008. In Chula Vista, the drop was 9.7 percent; Oceanside saw an 11.2 percent decline; and in Escondido, there was a 13.7 percent decrease. In my opinion, Silva has every right to invoke her Fifth amendment rights but in doing show, she puts herself under much criticism and suspicion. The case in which the robber locked the restaurant employees in the kitchen was actually pretty funny, because all that work left the did not even allow the thief to get a dime. Finally, I am glad to hear that a decrease in crime is occurring, especially in cities such as Chula Vista and San Diego, because that is where I live.
In the Union-Tribune today, new rites of passage debut yesterday. In order to pass the border SUFFIECENT, you need present a passport, a passport card or a “trusted traveler’’ card. The Border Patrol agents have to be very TECHNICAL with their policies because of the dangers involved in drug, human, and weapons trafficking. Theirs even new customs booth when crossing the border with passport. The passport cards are not valid for international air travel. The passports cost a lot for adults.
The San Diego Convention Center might PROFFICENT the building even bigger. The propose expansion on the bay side would add nearly 400,000 square feet to the structure.
Today in the newspaper, I read about a man who was arrested in Mexico for a suspected for a 2006 murder. The murder took place in San Diego. Ivan Javier Alvarado, the suspected murderer was nicknamed “ Ivan the Terrible”, and was on T.V. on the “ America’s Most Wanted” list. There isn’t SUFFICIENT evidence against him except that he left the country and he supposedly told friends “ I thought he had a gun”. Ivan was found in El Descanso in Baja and is expected to be turned in to the U.S.
I think that now these days it’s impossible to get away with anything because of all these TECHNICAL equipment being used. The pigs are also PROFICIENT at what they do.
