Monday- Today I read about a month long joint law-enforcement effort targeting online child predators has resulted in charges against 20 people suspected of possessing and distributing sexually explicit images of minors. Nineteen of the 20 live in San Diego County, U.S. Attorney Karen P. Hewitt announced at a news conference Friday. These defendants come from all walks of life, Hewitt said. The common thread here is the Internet. The reality is that the content they’re sharing with one another, whether their purchasing it, trading it, distributing it, is what’s so terrible because these children are being. There are pictures of abuse, there are pictures of children being victimized. The cases were investigated by San Diego’s Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, whose members include 19 local, state and federal agencies. Among them are Immigrations and Customs Enforcement, the FBI, the San Diego District Attorney’s Office and the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

Severe storms and massive flooding last weekend killed 23 people in Tennessee,
The federal government has declared 42 counties disaster areas. Flooding has caused more than $1.5 billion in property damage in the Nashville area alone.
Piles of debris stretched for blocks in the city's Bellevue neighborhood Sunday.
Soggy furniture, drywall and flooring lined the curbs as residents and volunteers tried to stay positive while cleaning up the damage flooding left behind.
17,000 people had requested assistance from the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
More than $4 million in federal assistance already has been approved for individuals, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano said Saturday during a visit to the region.

This morning I read about a rapist who attacked a jogger at balboa park. The rapist has raped the female in daylight two years ago. Jason Eric Huggins received the maximum penalty available. Eric chose the female jogger, ambushed her and choker her. The victim fought back, but Eric put her in a choke hold, cutting off her air supply. Eric then took off all her clothes and raped her. Eric pleaded guilty March 2 to five felony counts related to the attack on May 22, 2008. Four of the counts are forcible sex charges, and the fifth was assault with intent to cause bodily injury.
I think Eric should die, this story irritates me. I think that some guys are such perverts and cant get any girl to the point where they force a girl to have sex with them. It sucks how sometimes people just go to a park and run, and the unexpected happens to them.
Monday
In today’s paper I read an article about a rapist being sentenced. A man is being 24 years in prison for allegedly raping a jogger in a park. The woman was jogging when this man came out of no were, jumped on her, and strangled her to were she passed out. When unconscious he dragged her to the back of the park undressed and raped her. They had enough sufficient evidence to put the behind bars. The man seemed very proficient at what he was doing. He admitted to doing such crimes and was sentenced to 24 years in prison, and once released he will be documented as a sex offender for life. I think he should get life for what he did, and if you want to get technical he could of killed her. By letting this slide more and more people are in danger.
Today I read an article about all the players that the Chargers have picked in the NFL draft for the last 30 years. The article also talked about how some of the players that were picked in the last round or the teams last pick. A lot of players that were picked last turned up pretty good. Some of them showed progress with the Chargers. One the main players that didn’t get better till he was traded was Trent Green, who was drafted in 1993 by the Chargers. He started doing good when he was traded to Kansas City.
On the Monday morning newspaper I read about a woman that got slashed on her face right in front of her doorstep. It is said that a man slashed a woman's face while yelling Scarface this doorstep attack happened Monday night the thirty three year old woman answered a mans knock on her door which is located on Fairmount avenue near Dwight street at about ten pm at night the man slashed her face with an unknown sharp object the woman's wounds were superficial police said investigators said on Tuesday that the attack does not appear to be random and may be connected to a previous incident involving the family the assailant was described as a Latino about five six or five eight inches tall and very heavy built and was wearing dark clothes with a hooded sweater.
Monday- Today I read an article about how Arizona is under attack by civilians. The article stated that there are many parties going against the new law. The law is said to give the border patrol the right to roam the streets and stop any suspected immigrant. They were also given the right to deport anyone that is suspected to be an alien. The law was just passed about a month ago. The president of the United States even went into the debate of this law. The communities in Arizona have already started protests and is said to go on for maybe even months. There are also protests here in San Diego to help those in need.
This is a really good article but it’s a subject said to be very outspoken. The article was kind of making me mad because of the new law. I think that the government should of never let that law pass yet.
I learned that the United States are becoming how they used to be when it first began.
Tuesday- Today I read about National City is joining a growing number of jurisdictions in San Diego County that are going after drivers responsible for traffic accidents that result in fire department personnel being dispatched to the scene. Chula Vista might not be far behind. In an effort to increase its shrinking general fund, National City is planning to contract with a private company to go after nonresidents who cause accidents but don’t pay taxes to support emergency services. The city plans to charge those drivers for such things as extinguishing a car fire or cutting someone out of a wrecked vehicle. The City Council on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to an ordinance that outlines the per-hour fees. Ranging from $250 for setting up a command post to $5,900 for an advanced response to a hazardous materials incident. The ordinance will take effect 30 days after a second reading, set for May 18.

In today's news I read about how the border patrol found more than 100 pounds of marijuana in a cell phone wrapped packages that was found hidden in a big screen TV in the cargo of a minivan. The van was pulled into secondary inspection in Tuesday night when one of the drug dogs alerted agents to the Ford Windstar. The driver was 22 years old and was a native in chula vista fool, which was the guy who the U.S. customs arrested on a suspicious smuggling. There was a total of 36 packages of marijuana had a total street value of more than $56,00.

Tuesday- Today I read a really amusing article. The article was about a sea lion that was stuck under a cop car. The sea lion was said to have traveled off shore for quite a while. Officials said it took about four hours to get it out. They also stated that it was not the first time that had happened. They had found many of them just hanging around pretty far off shore. They had a SeaWorld worker who finally pulled it out from under the car. The sea lion was said to be healthy and in good shape so nothing went wrong.
This was an exciting article because there is usually nothing like this ever on the news. The crowd must have been pretty astonished by the animal. This tells me that sea lions are getting comfortable with people and might start roaming the streets.
I learned that animals are finally getting more and more adapted with the human species.
TUESDAY-
This morning I read a story about a man who had served nearly 30 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit. A judge vacated his conviction because DNA evidence showed he did not rape an 11 year old girl. 52 year old Raymond Towler and been serving a life sentence for the rape of an 11 year old girl. Towler was arrested three weeks after the crime when a park ranger who had stopped him on traffic violation noticed a resemblance to a suspect sketch. The victim and witness identified him from a photo. I don’t think being identified from a photo is SUFFICIENT Evidence. I also think that the courts should have to pay him some kind of compensation based on a TECHNICALITY.
tuesday !
This morning I read about a man who did 30 years in prison for rape. A judge let him go free because DNA evidence showed he did not rape an 11 year old girl. Raymond Towler who is 52 was very happy and emotional. Raymond was serving a life sentence for raping a girl in a Cleveland park in 1981.Prosecuters barely received the test results Monday and asked the court to let him go immediately. The Ohio Innocence Project is an organization that uses DNA evidence to clear people wrongfully convicted of crimes. Raymond was the one was in prison the longest, and being able to be set free because of DNA.
I think that this story is sad because Raymond was in jail way longer than he should have been. I've seen shows like Forensic Files and others that show how easy it is to figure out cases like these when it involves DNA. I think this should have been done earlier, this man wasted about half of his life already.

In today’s news I read about a police officer who ruled the deaths of two people last week as a murder suicide and identified the couple on Wednesday as John and Barbara McWorthy. Their bodies were found April27 in the master bedroom of their two story home located on Fire Mountain Drive near Laurel Road. One of the officers went to go check on the welfare of Barbara McWorthy,64, after she did not show up for work. The police think that John McWorhty shot his wife and the turned the weapon to himself and shot himself.

Wednesday- Today I read about Tony Smithers has been answering a lot of questions lately about marijuana. Over coffee at Ramone's Bakery & Cafe, he was polite but mildly irked to be fielding queries about a substance the federal government outlaws. Smithers, the Humboldt County Convention and Visitors Bureau's executive director, would rather talk about the county's other natural resources: its forests, its rolling mountains, its 110 miles of coastline. But with legalization on a statewide November ballot and with Humboldt situated in the Emerald Triangle, so named for its massive marijuana output, there have been distractions of late. I think that this guy will be making a lot of money in the future with his “weed”.
Wednesday- today I read about some stock that's not doing so good in the stock market. The Dow took a big hit yesterday in the market with a estimated 1,000 point drop. for sixteen minutes people saw the drop which they believed was a drop, but later on discovered that it was just a glitch because the building was undergoing some technical difficulties. A lot of the people began rioting because of all the drops in the stock market. Most investors fear that Greece's problem's might spread to other surrounding countries an cause some sort of spiral effect leading to the rising of those countries debts increasing. the Dow has lost 631 points since Tuesday.
Tuesday
In today’s paper I read an article about an crisis in Germany. Violence erupted when protestors took a nationwide strike last Wednesday. Tens of thousands of people took it to the streets as a part of this strike. While protesting protestors got violent and started a riot. The anti government protestors started to attack the riot police. They felt that violence was sufficient so they reacted in crazy ways. Riot police was proficient with there taming tactics. They were having more then technical problems in Athens. I think that the people have every right to do what they did. Especially the part were they started attacking the police lol.
Wednesday
In today’s paper I read an article about a killer on a rampage. A man shot killed his girlfriend after a domestic dispute and over child support. Joseph Mercado was proficient at what he was doing. He shot the door knob to get in the house and started opening fire. He ended up killing three of the family members, while six other family members hid on the roof. The police tried to apprehend the man at his home and it turned into a shot out low-key. He was taken into custody after being grazed by a bullet in the head. They have enough sufficient evidence to give him life behind bars. I think the case technically was the police fault. Because he should already be behind bars.
wednesday !
This morning I read about an Ex coach who is now in jail for having sex with a teen. Dominic Scarfe who is 32 years old, a former volleyball coach at Madison High school in Clairemont had sex with a 17 year old. Dominic pleaded guilty last month to unlawful sex with a minor, oral copulation of a minor and a misdemeanor count of possessing child pornography. The reason he is getting charged for pornography is because he had a video of the two performing some sexual acts in his phone. The girl was fine with the relationship they had, it was a mutual thing. The girl said he took advantage of her mentally, because he took advantage of the her loving him.
Ok, so I think that when these things happens, and the relationship was mutual, the teenager should be getting in trouble also. Well at least some community service or counseling. I don’t care if this keeps happening, well if the girl is ok with it, but if Authorities want to stop it, they have to become stricter.
Wednesday- Today I read an article about a bunch of hate crimes happening. The crimes were toward a lady that helps immigrants in a way. The lady said that all the crimes have been happening at her office. The first one was a man who walked up to her window and put his knuckles on them. On his knuckles stated I know who you are I know what you do I am going to kill you. The second crime was that someone sprayed graffiti outside in front of her workplace. The third one was someone broke through her window and stole a laptop. Police are investigating the crimes and are going to step up the security around that neighborhood.
This was a sad article because there are people who hate others who help the different races. I think that this has to do with a white power thing in El Cajon. The lady should have people hiding and waiting to see if anything else happens.
I learned that even here in San Diego white supremacy tries to regulate but it will not work.
wednesday--In the Friday, may 7th edition of The San Diego Union Tribune, I read about the volcano eruption in Iceland. The volcano erupted in Dublin, Iceland. The eruption has caused a sufficient amount of ash clouds to surround Dublin. The Eurocontrols have showed signs of new technical readings. Eurocontrols are machines that show air routs. The ash has reached a elevation of 35,000 feet. This makes, the usually proficient aircrafts, to be damaged and unable to perform as well. They have now closed airports in the European states. I feel they should have a more efficient way to clean up after a disaster as this one. I know there isn’t really an efficient way to clean thousands of miles of air, but we can try to control it. I think airlines should have a back-up in case this type of thing happens again, because they are losing profit every hour their businesses are closed.
wednesday.
This morning I read a story about a survey that shows that older Americans are having less sex. The article stated that Americans 45 and older are more open to sex outside the marriage, but they're engaging in sex less often and with less satisfaction. This is according to a major new survey by AARP. AARP’s sex and relationship expert, sociologist Pepper Schwartz, thinks the reason is financial stress. I don’t think that it is because of financial reasons. It doesn’t cost money to have sex. I think being old is SUFFICIENT reason enough. I really don’t think it matters how much sex they're having, but the satisfaction does matter.
On the Wednesday morning newspaper I read about how a teenager is arrested for shining a laser at a sheriffs helicopter a 14 year old boy was arrested in vista which is located in upper county san Diego deputies say that the kid flashed at on of the copters the copter crew was on a routine patrol over the area of Nevada and north Santa fe avenue at about ten pm was when the incident accrued once the they noticed the green laser lights the deputy sent several squad cars to check the area the kid was arrested and token to the police station and was released to parents it is said that the case is going to be forward over to the juvenile court I also read about how a couple was found and pronounced dead as a happening ruled as a murder suicide.
wednesday
In today's news I read about a 51 year old registered sex offender who is in the country illegally was arrested on Wednesday in Escondido on a suspicious of indecent exposure at a department store in San Marcos. Javier Esteban Guadarrama is suspected of masturbating females customers at the store on January 30. He fled after a brief struggle with a loss prevention officer at the store who recognize him from two previous incidents. DNA left at the scene along with store surveillance video helped identified Guadarrama. He was found to be a sex who had been previously deported and was booked into the Vista jail, that were they hold all the immigrants.

In today’s news, a teenager was arrested after deputies say he flashed a laser at one of their helicopters. The helicopter crew was on routine when they noticed a green light coming at them. They called in and tracked the teenager and arrested him. He was arrested and was released to his parents and charged him.
Wednesday-
In today’s news, a lockdown was called when a fight happened at Otay Mesa jail. 20 inmates were involved in a fight at a George Bailey Detention Facility, three were injured. Guards used beanbag and pepper-ball shots to subdue inmates, and three inmates were taken to the hospital. The fight happened when a group formed in a “day” room and was believed to be a brawl with at least 35 males with 10 deputies responding initially until the facility was put on lockdown.

Thursday- Today I read about A leader of anti-government protests in Thailand was shot in the head while being interviewed at the demonstrations, according to the journalist who was with him at the time. Seh Daeng was in critical condition, according to his guards with the Red Shirt protesters. Video footage taken just after the shooting showed Seh lying on the ground, dressed in camouflage, as frantic protesters attempted to move him and get help. Seh appears to be bleeding from a head wound. Footage from the hospital showed medics covering Seh's face as he was brought in on a stretcher amid a throng of media. Tom Fuller of the International Herald Tribune told CNN he was interviewing Seh at the time of the shooting. Witnesses said the gunshot appeared to come from a rooftop in a corner of Bangkok's Lumpini Park, where protesters have amassed. While it was unknown whether Thailand's military or government was behind the shooting, the government has previously made it clear it would shoot at what it called armed terrorists. A renegade Thai general, Seh, whose full name is Maj. Gen. Kattiya Sawasdipol, is one of the Red Shirts' most radical, hard-line leaders.
Thursday
In today’s paper I read an article about a new immigration law that has led to calls to boycott the state. Arizona's governor has signed a bill banning ethnic studies classes. Proficient protestors are protesting this bill because they fell as if its wrong. The new law forbids elementary schools and secondary schools from teaching classes that are based on particularly one ethnic group. There’s already a sufficient number of problems for the US already. They think that it’s a technical overthrow of the united states government. I think that they are just being to insecure because they do this every time a race becomes to powerful. There's so many signs in history and people haven't noticed them.
thursday
In today's news I read about a eight police officers are feared dead in an attack on a police convoy in the Russian republic of Dagestan on Thursday. Several others were wounded in the attack, which took place in the Segolinsky region of the southern republic. Dagestan borders Chechnya, where insurgents seeking independence have been involved in a long-running and violent battle. Last month, a suicide bomber killed two officers and wounded four others outside a police station in the neighboring republic of Ingushetia. The attack was followed by a car bomb that hurt seven police officers and a civilian. Both republics have seen an increase in violence in recent years a spillover from the Chechnya conflict. Rebels say the upsurge in attacks is a retribution for the Kremlin's violence and arbitrary rule in the region, and have promised "new acts of vengeance" in Russia.

THURSDAY--Today I read about a newly drafted football player. Former basketball player, Cam Thomas, was recently signed to the San Diego Chargers. He is a 330 pound, 6’ 5”, offensive player. The coaches showed a reasonable amount of concern in his proficiency level. Statistically, he will be able to smash, but they are concerned about his efficiency. They want to know how far they can push him in order to make the best football player possible. Everybody on the team and all of the coaches see a major amount of potential in him. They say it will take a sufficient amount of training and a lot of technical drills. They will work on endurance and speed. I think Thomas sounds like a very impressive athlete. If he was able to go from being a professional basketball player to a professional football player, then the coaches must see something in him that is influential. I can’t wait to see him once we start the new season.
thursday !
This morning I read about a Central California Sunday school teacher accused of kidnapping, raping and killing an 8 year old girl. The 8 year old girl was a playmate of her daughter. Melissa Huckaby, the Sunday school teacher, stuffed the body into a suitcase, and was put into an irrigation pond. Melissa Huckaby pleaded guilty, and got charged with first degree murder with a special circumstance of kidnapping. The initial charges in the grand jury would have made her eligible for the death penalty, but instead she faces 25 years to life in prison without the possibility of parole when sentence June 14th.
I think this lady should not have had a baby if she raped that other little girl. I would not doubt if she raped or molested her own child. RIP the little 8 year old.
The Thursday morning newspaper I read about how a Philly police officer shoots himself purposely a police officer who told authorities he was shot while on patrol last month has admitted he shot himself intentionally Sgt. Robert Ralston 46 confessed to police early Tuesday morning that he made up the story possibly to a get attention or a transfer Ralston reported that on April 5 he saw two African-American males arguing on a train track in West Philadelphia He told investigators that when he stopped the two men for questioning one of them pulled out a gun and shot him in the left shoulder His claim sparked a search for a phantom suspect once the officer notice that his story didn’t match he manned up and decided to confess but he will not be charged with no criminal charges.
Thursday--
This morning I read a story about an L.A. Police gun buyback. They police said that about 2,000 weapons were given up in exchange for gift cards with no questions asked. There was a slight scare when a man brought in a grenade to a Hollywood drop-off location. Police later believed that it was a practice model painted to look like a real one. I think that it is a good idea for cops to do this because it is an easy way to get guns off the street. I think 2,000 weapons is a SUFFICIENT amount of weapons recovered.
Thursday- Today I read an article about a dog who ate a beehive. The dog is a one year old Labrador that lives in Santee. The dogs owner was surprised after she saw her dog throw up a big chunk of it. The owner said that her dog has had a big appetite from before and she was really shocked. The article stated that there were about 80,000 stories about pets. The news cast chose this one for the reason that nobody has ever heard that a dog ate a beehive. The dog was said to have to be taken to the vet for the reason that it was not feeling well. The article was also stating that the dog ate hundreds and hundreds of bees.
I think that this was a good article because I have never heard a dog eating a bee hive. The article needed a little more information though. I also think that the dog was really crazy for eating the whole beehive.
I learned that there are dogs out there that are really crazy.
Friday
In today’s paper I read an article about the confiscated marijuana. A few weeks ago a cookie truck tried to cross the border of Mexico to the USA. The border patrol stopped it from the look of suspicion, and did a check. They had technical problems at first but in the end they found over 46 tons of Marijuana. The man was taken into custody and they recently incinerated all of those drugs. Tuesday photographers took pictures as the drugs went up in flames. They had a sufficient amount of evidence to put this man behind bars for a long time. The proficient Border Patrol officers did a good job on finding this much. But I think it was stupid how they burned in all.
A local Afghan leader says coalition forces shot and killed civilians on Thursday night, a claim disputed by the NATO-led force in Afghanistan.
Civilian deaths during military operations in Afghanistan have undermined the coalition's efforts to gain support among the Afghan people. The United States and other coalition countries have been working to avoid such casualties.
friday-
This morning I read about a story coming from London, about cable satellites. A T.V communications satellite is drifting out of control thousands of miles above Earth. It is very close to interfering with another satellite, and can lead to messing with the U.S cable programming. Communications company lost control of the Galaxy 15 April 5th. AMC 11 receives digital programming from cable television channels and transmits it to tall U.S cable systems from its orbit 22,000 miles above the equator. This wandering Satellite is a threat to cable. Cable channels will probably having problems very soon.
I wrote about this because there was nothing that really caught my attention, and this was not in the OUR REGION section. I think that they should just send out another satellite, and that would fix the problem.
friday-
This morning I read a story about a young great white shark that was released form the Monterey Bay Aquarium. It died in a fishing net off the coast of Baja California. The shark was fitted with electronic tracking tags. It was on exhibit for 69 before being released and traveling 500 miles south the aquarium stated. She was caught in the fishing net in early march. Great white sharks are legally protected in California and Mexico but are sometimes accidentally caught by commercial fishermen. The aquarium said that this shark was the only one out of five white sharks exhibited known to have died. I think that this sorry is very sad. But I also think that four out of five is a SUFFICIENT amount, we all cant be winners. I think this was just a TECHNICAL issue and the aquarium should consider these releases successful.
FRIDAY--In this edition of The San Diego Union Tribune, I read about a male coach having sex with one of his underage students. The students name was not released for privacy reasons. The Coaches name is Dominic Scrafe; a thirty two year old high school educator. They shared an ongoing sexual relationship for a little over two months. He possessed sexual videos with him and her. Scarfe was sentenced to a year in jail, 5 years on probation, and be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life. The student says she loved him, and now she just feels “broken”. She is only 17 years old, and this has sparked a sufficient amount of controversy in her life. His sentencing was technical because of his lack of criminal record, so they had to think of an appropriate sentencing. I think they could have came up with a more proficient ordering. The judge stood up for him, in a way, and I feel he should have made an example out of him. I would like to know what happened with his teaching license and how he feels about this.
Friday- Today I read an article about a stolen memorial. The memorial is a big metal cross that was put on a hill side just off Las Vegas. The cross was a memorial for the dead who fought in the war. There was a law that had just prohibited that cross from being there. The cross did not go anywhere until it was finally stolen. The caretakers of he cross said that the cross had been vandalized before. The situation states that this could have been either a hate crime or just some scrap metal scavengers. There is about 50,000 veterans mad at this situation and are willing to find the thieves.
I think that this article was pretty interesting. The reason is because you never hear about a cross getting stolen. I think that the thieves did a good job because not everyone is religious.
I learned that there are some people out there who are scavengers and will steal even a metal cross.
Friday
Today I read about a musician named Steve White who was struck with throat cancer (after 50 years of cigarette smoking) and will no longer be singing the blues. The interviewer had to lean in, just to make out exactly what he was saying. He was a one-man band, playing the harmonica, guitar, and vocal chords. A recent diagnosis says the throat cancer has spread to his spine, which means chemo. White doesn't have health insurance, but he qualifies for assistance. He was also struck with a high pressure of glaucoma in his eyes, which makes him no longer able to paint canvases, which he’s done as a hobby and job his whole life. His audiences may not be as huge as Bob Dylan's or Joni Mitchell's, singer-songwriters who also compulsively paint, but to the writer's ear and eye, White's in their major league. For nine months, the one-man band signature hat has been living, not performing, the blues.
I believe this is a very sad thing to happen to a man with so much talent. Guitar and art make up my life as well as White's. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't indulge in either of the two.

In today's news I read about some Pirates hijacked a Greek-owned cargo ship Wednesday morning off the coast of Oman. The Liberian-flagged Eleni P, operated by Euro bulk, was carrying 26 crew members when pirates overpowered the ship. The ship was en route to India when it was taken by the pirates about 250 nautical miles off the coast of Oman. The force's Operation Atlanta focuses on escorting merchant vessels carrying humanitarian aid for the World Food Programme and those of the African Union Mission in Somalia, protecting vessels in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, and deterring and disrupting piracy.

The force's Operation Atlanta focuses on escorting merchant vessels carrying humanitarian aid for the World Food Programme and those of the African Union Mission in Somalia, protecting vessels in the Gulf of Aden and the Indian Ocean, and deterring and disrupting piracy.
