Today I read about Obama picks Latino woman as nominee for high court. President Barack Obama nominated federal judge Sonia Sotomayor to the Supreme Court yesterday, choosing a daughter of Puerto Rican parents of the Bronx public housing project to become the nation’s first Latino justice. Obama emphasized Sotomayor’s extraordinary journey from modest beginnings to the Ivy League and now the pinnacle of the Judicial system. Sotomayor’s past comments about how her gender and ethnicity shaped her decisions and the role of appeals courts in making policy generated instant conservative complaints that she is a judicial activist and Senate Republicans vowed to scrutinize her record. With Democrats in reach of 60 votes needed to break a filibuster, the White House appeared eager to dare Republicans to stand against a history-making nomination at a time when both parties are courting the growing Latino vote. Obama said yesterday a judge’s job is to interpret, not make law , his emphasis on finding a nominee with empathy has generated criticism from Republicans, who saw the code for legislating personal views from the bench. Sotomayor is a graduate of Princeton University and Yale Law School.

Today in the Daily Tribune, I read about a woman that is being accused of throwing her two children from a bridge. Her four year old son died and his older sister was injured. The mother was arrested for the suspected SCHEME. The surviving daughter was REGISTERED in a hospital. The doctors say it is a miracle that she didn’t die from a 75 feet fall and half an hour in cold water. There is no PROPORTION to this cruelty.
I think that killing children is the most cruel thing that can be done and whoever did it deserves to suffer.

In today’s paper I read about how the government might take significant control of General Motors under an Obama administration plan that would restructure GM’s board of directors. The SCHEME calls for federal officials to name up to six members to the 13-member board after GM emerges from its expected bankruptcy. Details of the shape that GM is currently in emerged yesterday as the Obama administration continued to REGISTER its efforts to revive the nation’s ailing auto industry. In another story, the hug has become the favorite social greeting when teens meet or part these days. The reason for the large growing PROPORTION of huggers to none huggers is believed to be the result of peer pressure. Many schools in San Diego county have even gone to the extreme and have began to ban hugging or have imposed a three second rule. In another story, high-ranking federal and state officials were in San Diego yesterday to discuss border security, including a plan to use federal stimulus funds to enhance anti-drug task forces. Local law enforcement agencies, led by the Chula Vista Police Department, have applied for a grant of nearly $3 million to supplement multiagency task forces investigating drug-trafficking organizations. Officials have agreed that further investigation of drug-trafficking networks is needed, many of which are operating out of state and federal prisons in the United States. In the past 15 years the Border Patrol’s focus has noticeably shifted from illegal immigration to national security and drug-trafficking. Most important, there is a marked difference in cooperation between the United States and Mexico in the drug war. In my opinion, the United States should do everything they can to aid law enforcement in the prevention of illegal drug-trafficking. Illegal drugs are the basis for nearly all crimes, big or small, committed in the United States, and a decrease in drug-trafficking would certainly result in a decrease in overall crime. Border Patrol and many more certainly could do with more funds, and it would be wise of the government to provide for that need.

According to the san Diego Union Tribune I read about a son being charge with a white collar crime. The 66 year old man is said he stole more than $65,000 dollars from his 82 year old mother. The man killed his mother and buried her in the back yard. The president of Mexico planned a secretive operation by federal forces netted 10 mayors and 18 other top officials in Michoacán state, escalating President Felipe Calderon's battle against cartels ahead of the July 5 national elections. Those men will be charged heavily with more than enough evidence against them. He first launched his national anti-drug campaign after taking office in December 2006, sending thousands of troops to the drug hot spot. the president wants to make sure he is reelected so he can keep fighting the countries evil scheme.
