Four American friends -- seasoned travelers -- were hiking through Iraq's Kurdistan region last week before three of them crossed the unmarked border with Iran, where Iranian authorities detained them. Meckfessel, a graduate student at the University of Washington, was identified by his grandmother, who told CNN that he stayed behind because he felt sick. Meckfessel met with a consular official at the U.S. Embassy in Baghdad, the embassy said, that her grand son asked her not to speak to the media. I think this is bad because American people is over there captured because of hiking and I hop this don’t end up as another war.
Today I read in CNN.com about a crime that happened in Lebanon, Pa. A girl shot and killed a boy. Witnesses say this happened after an argument they were having. People that have lived for a long time say that its getting worse to live there. A witness said that when he was a kid you could walk there at night and not be afraid of anything happening to you now and days you have to be extra careful. The girl who is being accused of shooting and killing steven santiago is only 16 years old, I think this is very sad because she is probably gonna have to spend the rest of her life in prison. To me society is getting worse and worse every day. I wonder what my kids are gonna have to go through.
Today I read about a 90-year-old Holocaust survivor that was found strangled Thursday on his Upper East Side apartment. Felix Brinkmann, a native of Latvia, escaped death for a year while he was in the Nazis Mauthausen, Ebenseen and Auschwitz concentration camps. Five times he had been slated for the gas chamber, but each time he used his fluency in German to talk his way out. When the war ended, he was stunned to find out that his wife, who had also been shipped to Auschwitz, was alive and well in Poland. The Brinkman's immigrated to America, where Felix spent years in the bar and nightclub business, co-founding in 1971 Adam’s Apple disco in Manhattan. He had served as the real state manager of mixed-use building in the Bronx. On Thursday, the building’s superintendent grew concerned when Brinkmann did not show up to work. He notified Brinkmann’s son and received permission to enter the father’s apartment, where he had lived alone since his wife died last year. Brinkmann’s body was found lying face down in his bedroom, his hands bound, his body showing blunt force trauma wounds. Rick Brinkman speculated that the killing was random in nature.
Today I read about Hacker Gary McKinnon, a British citizen, has admitted breaking the law and intentionally gaining unauthorized access to U.S. government computers. The U.S. wants him extradited to face trial there, while he has been fighting to be tried in Britain. He based his case partly on the fact that he has Asperger syndrome He lost an appeal at the High Court on Friday, bringing him a step closer to extradition. The case has sparked widespread anger in Britain from people who think he should not be sent abroad for trial. But Harman said Sunday the legal system was working as it should. I think that "The director of public prosecutions says because the witness are in America, because the damage that was alleged to have been done was in America, because the evidence is in America, that is the appropriate place to put him on trial/
In today’s news article, four marines involved in a crash kills one. A Marine killed when the car in which he was a front seat passenger crashed into a tree in San Clemente was identified Sunday as a 22-year-old corporal. The crash happened around 2:15 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Avenida Vista Montana in the Orange County city just north of the base.
Today I read about a man that drowned. The man jumped off the bahia and died. The man and his two friends jumped off of it and the other man did a belly flop and then drowned and died. The man had went missing and then they had a search. The coast guard helped in the search and the body was discovered 12 hours later.
Interesting Facts- The boat cruises along mission bay.
My Opinion- I think that this is sad and tragic. I would be devistated if something like that happened to my family or friends and the people took like FOREVER to find that man. This AFFECTS the family and friends big time. The people were probably TEXTING like crazy. I am mainating a 4.0 gpa.
In the News I read about A Vershire man has been accused of digging up his father's remains and bringing them home with him because he missed his late father. the man I known as Dominik A. Bailey Jr., 43 and he got charged with felony removal of human remains after allegedly digging up the cremated man's remains from a Vershire graveyard. Thetford police said they received a call from Bailey's mother on Friday telling authorities that she believed her son had gone and dug up her husband's cremated remains he had also had takened the the headstone home with him. The mother said she was going to check the grave site and later told police all she saw at the site was a hole in the ground. The aunt said Bailey had talked about taking his father's remains home for months, but said she did not believe he would actually do it. The aunt also told police Bailey has made several threats to shoot relatives. The aunt also told police Bailey phoned her again later in the day and spoke with her, saying "he's here with me now" and that his father's remains were in his living room, along with the father's headstone.
What I read about this article this morning is INITILA on, Meth ads talk to teens in Spanish and it takes place in the AREA of unknown. They MAINTAIN the AFFECTS of the drug into young people. Prisons are officials for those who abuse the drug, and don’t know how to control their moods, while in the INFLUENCE off the drug. Their CONSEQUENCES are that they end up in prison or death.
