This morning I read about three guys from Texas who survived after their catamaran flipped over 180 miles off land. The three men were reunited with their families on Sunday. Curtis Hall, 28, Tressel Hawkins, 43, and James Phillips, 30, were reported missing August 22 after they left on a fishing trip and didn’t return. I think this story is cool, but if it happened to me I don’t think I would've survived. I thought the interesting fact was that they survived by rationing bubble gum and crackers, and they used a hose to suck fresh water from an internal tank.

Today I read about a 10 year old child charged in the shooting death of his father. Police alleged that the boy used his own rifle to shoot his father and then called authorities. Police found Byron Hilburn 42 with a head wound and later that day he was announced dead at the hospital. The boy reportedly told officers thought his father was disciplining him too harshly and too often according to local media in a weekend reports said a first degree murder charge was pending against the boy.

What I read in today’s Union Tribune newspaper for September 2, 2009 was about the fiery crash that happened on Friday. Investigators believed the victims of the fiery crash was 19 year veteran California Highway Patrol and 3 of his relatives. His three relatives as his wife, daughter, and brother in law. The SEQUENCE of the accident was that the Lexus, which was said to be rented, continued through the intersection, hitting a concrete curb, and running through a picket fence. The Lexus then hit a dirt embankment which bring the car into the air, rolled several times then burst into flames. The victims bodies were badly burnt that the medical examiner couldn’t VERIFY the victims identities. The car itself was badly burned as well, the only thing you’ll recognize is the tires. The crash happened just two minutes after CHP received a 911 call which was believed to be Saylor’s wife, saying that the accelerator broke, and they couldn’t stop. I feel very sad as well that this incident has happened to a family. Its heartbreaking to know about it.

An Encinitas woman is recovering after she was attacked by a shark last Tuesday at Terramar Beach in Carlsbad. A day of swimming and taking underwater pictures turned into a frantic experience for Bethany Edmund. The pain came from a shark sinking its teeth into her foot. The water she was in was 8- to 10-feet deep, and she thought she had kicked a reef. She said, "I literally felt someone took my ankle and yanked me backwards, and I thought it was the swimmers that were near me. So I surfaced and I looked around and said, 'Hey, don't pull my foot, it's not funny guys,' and they were like, 'We didn't touch you; we're 10 feet from you.'" The shark took another bite on her calf.

Today I read about an adopted little boy who had cerebral palsy being kidnapped. The little boy’s name is Hassani Campbell. They accused his two foster parents (Jennifer Campbell and Louis Ross) of being suspects. They never found his body, but they already ruled it a homicide. The last he was seen was on Wal-marts video surveillance camera on August 6, but his Foster parents say he disappeared on August 10 from the same wal-mart. His foster dad’s story is that he was going around to the back door to tell his fiancĂ© to open the door and he told Hassani to wait by the trunk of the car. He told Hassani he will be right back. He claims he was only gone for two to five minutes and when his fiancĂ© asked about Hassani, the husband bent back around the corner and he was gone.
I think Louis Ross story is full of it. One why would you leave a Five year old outside by the car, in a parking lot, around a corner from the backside of the store, and forget about him up to five minutes. I think the story is a lie and Louis Ross plays a big part in the little boy’s kidnapping. I feel really sad for Hassani Campbell because he is just a little boy and people already want to harm him. Mostly I hope he is still alive, but if not I hope they find his body really soon.

Today I read about how the park view little league team in Chula vista have won it all in the little league the won the world series. The park view team played vs. a Japanese team for the finals and they won. They was really happy to come from 3-0 in the 4th inning and still win the game behind there very strong team and coaching. I think this is good for the community because we actually won something in baseball. And the padres suck so we needed the boost of energy to take it over to football season.

Today I read about the high levels of unemployment and employers cutting back on college recruiting, you would think students would think students would be flocking to the majors that most consistently land jobs: accounting, computer science and economics. They’re not. The vagaries of the economy rarely influence what most students choose to study. Consider this the most popular majors at the local universities have remained unchanged for several years, and even fastest growing majors don’t match the profession that are projected to grow the most by 2016.

In today’s paper I read about the little league that Chula vista team won. There were really exited on winning this game. They say there number one. This team has 7th and 8th graders which that means that there like around 12 or 13 years old. This team really proved them self to be a better team and also work together as what they are a TEAM. The family of these players still cant believe that they won the game. Some family’s were on tears and some couldn’t describe what they felt . Of course all the kids were really exited. And what is more interesting was that gorge Lopez had told them if they won they were going to get an I touch I pod phone how interesting is that. For all the players in the team and all of the coaches as well.
