As rumors swirl that LT is headed to New Orleans and with everyone trying to read into the official silence, LaDainian Tomlinson said yesterday that he still hopes to be A charger in 2009. Tomlinson spoke before being inducted into the Texas Sports Hall of Fame yesterday along with six others. Tomlinson’s agent and the chargers are discussing a retooled contract that would save the chargers some money and allow them flexibility to try to sign other players to long-term deals. Tomlinson has three years left on a deal he signed in 2004. He is set to make $6.725 million and count $8.79 million against the salary cap in ’09. Tomlinson injured his toe in the season opener and was slowed for half the season. He then hurt his groin in the regular-season finale and did not play in the Chargers divisional playoff loss.
In a today’s reading, I read about how retailers left standing amid the downfall of their competitors are going after orphaned customers. An analyst has identified $9.6 billion in sales up for grabs from stores that are closing. Now is the time to buy. In another article, a man is fatally shot after attacking County Superior Judge Cinda Fox. David Paradiso, who had been charged for the murder of his girlfriend, attacked the judge as everyone was exiting the courtroom. Paradiso had been testifying about 2 p.m. when his mother, in the audience, left the courtroom upset, apparently at something her son said. Fox called a recess, and as the jurors filed out, Paradiso left the stand and attacked the judge from behind. He was shot to death by a Lodi Police Detective shortly after. In another reading, fake cash has brought a warning to residents and retailers. An increase in counterfeit money has spurred the idea of free training for workers at businesses in Chula Vista in order to be able to spot the phony cash. Police urge people to watch for people buying items with many bills at once, or spenders that are buying little items in order to break large counterfeited bills. Chula Vista merchants interested in obtaining training for their staffs to prevent such fraud should call the department’s property-crime division. Relying on the iodine marking pen is not as reliable as it used to be because the technology has been defeated.
The Sheriff’s Department Search and Rescue team members were scattered around the rugged terrain of Northern Escondido in search for Amber Dubois. Amber is a 14 year old girl who was missing in the morning when she was walking to Escondido High School on February 13 of this year. Reward money of $60, 000 was being offered for information regarding Amber. The reward is split in two. At least $50, 000 is offered in information plus including the girl's safe home return. And the last part of the reward of $10, 000 is being offered for the arrest of the person or people whom were involved in the case. The money had been donated by individuals and businesses who remains anonymous for their own sake. The department had at least 80 tips that they had recently received, and they are in the process of investigating each and one of them. The Dubois family are in desperate need of help in finding Amber.
In today’s newspaper article I read about this man named David Paradiso who attacked a judge in the court room. This man was accused of killing his girlfriend Eileen Pelt in 2006. the 28 year old man was shot by a Lodi police detective after he left the stand and began attacking the San Joaquin County superior court judge named Cinda Fox. The stabbing occurred during the break in proceedings. David’s mother which was in the audience left the court room upset around 2 a.m. apparently at something her son said. David left the stand and attacked the judge from the back when she called a recess, and jurors filed out. A witness said that they saw David lift up the judge and started punching her and possibly stabbing. When that happened the bailiffs ran to her aid and shots rang out. Before the court day David’s brother had said that his brother was “crazy” and that he shouldn't be put on the stand. The court shooting is under investigation. The judge left the court in a stretcher with a bandage on her arm but she told reporters that she was OK. David’s brother said that his mother had warned deputies about putting David on the stand. It wasn’t understood how David entered the courtroom with a sharp instrument when their was two bailiffs on duty.
Today I read about a seal that was rescued in Del Mar for the second time this month. The California sea lion pup that waddled into the parking lot of a Chevy’s Fresh Mex restaurant in Del Mar late Tuesday has been stranded and rescued before. About a month ago, the little guy was picked up in Solana Beach. Barbara Henkel said he’s a little rascal and a little devil for getting out twice. Barbara call the cops after spotting the pup across the four lanes of Via de la Valle about a mile from the ocean. The sea lion, about a year old , is now recuperating at Sea World in a pool with other rescued animals and seems to be in good health, but veterinarians are conducting blood tests and further experiments. They hope to release him to the wild eventually. Sea World officials said they weren’t surprised by the rescue because young sea lions tend to get lost and confused but that it was rare for an animal to be rescued twice. I also read about a couple who is sharing the energy of embrace through hugs. Eli Call and girlfriend Mary Huang have been walking the streets of San Diego County and Guatemala with open arms and wide smiles, hoping to spread peace and perspective. They are among three dozen people from the San Diego County, England, and Ireland who are forming a nonprofit group to promote hugging someone and then asking them to hug 10 people in return. They said if those people give 10 hugs, then it will take 10 days for 10 billion hugs to be distributed. The power of a hug is so much more than body contact, it is an exchange of energy that soothes the soul. They say they encountered a man who said he hadn’t been hugged in seven years. Another person they came in contact with had tears in her eyes, Huang gave her another hug and she said that you don’t have no idea what this is doing for me. That’s so cute. I love this article because they doing such a cute thing.
In today’s paper I had read that a man had shot his girlfriend in the head and then carjacked someone. He took the car and then crashed and died. The cops said that he was brain dead when he got to the hospital and they tried to perform CPR. A man was stabbed in the chest after he confronted a bicyclist for trying to break into his roommates car. This predicament had happened a t about 2:30 a.m. The two had argued and the bicyclist stabbed the man once. The victim was sent to the hospital and police described it as a minor wound.
According to the San Diego Union Tribune police officers are warning residents and retailers about counterfeit money being quickly spread about the county. To help put a stop to false money the CVPD is offering free classes to workers in Chula Vista to spot the fake bills. Chula Vista detective Matt Smith says three to five fake money cases are reported a week for months. Victims have ranged from retail stores to fast food places, particular along the interstate five freeway. Smith says to Examine the bill closely and the customers’ conduct. The iodine marker is not efficient enough because technology has surpassed that trick. The element in the real bills can now just be added into the bill. The customers will try to make inexpensive purchases in order to break big false bills.
