In today’s paper I read about how an ‘Imperfect’ spending bill was OK’d by Obama. President Barack Obama defended congress’s projects yesterday as he signed a $410 billion measure with thousands of examples. Obama then stated that the spending does need tighter restraint and listed guidelines to do it. In another story, Hospitals are feeling recession’s pain. Hospitals nationwide and in San Diego County are feeling aches and pains from the deepening recession, and some predict a worse prognosis in the coming months. Construction projects at some medical institutions have been put on hold, and administrative jobs are being consolidated or left open when they become vacant. In another story, 4 states see double digit jobless rates. The rising joblessness reflects pain that housing, credit and financial crises-the worst since 1930s-have caused workers and companies. California, South Carolina, Michigan, and Rhode Island are states that have reached 10.1 percent or more unemployment rate. Many of the eastern states have a 8.1 percent to 10 percent jobless situation, while central united states remains the healthiest with 6 percent or less.
Today in the news I read a follow up story about the gunman that killed a lot of people in Alabama. The gunman left a list at his house of people that did him wrong. The gunmen did not get to finish his rampage due to him being cornered by police. The gunman had two other target places and had the resources to do so. The gunmen was going to seek out all the people that had quote “done him wrong”. In national news a gunmen killed 15 people at his old high school in Germany. The gunman killed eight girls and seven boys. I think the world has gone crazy with people just snapping and killing people. I don’t know was going on in today's world with people just killing a lot of people because they get mad. I think people that show signs of shooting people should be watched.
Today in The Union Tribune about Mexico’s victory over Australia in The World Baseball classic. The resource I got this from was in the sport section. I then transferred the information to my power point. They won 16 to . Karim Garcia went four-for-four. Also hit two homeruns and Mexico eliminated Australia from the competition. Garcia’s three-run homer in the sixth capped a four-run inning. Mexico faces Cuba today for the first place of Group B. Both teams are headed for San Diego, where Japan and South Korea await in the next round. I personally want Mexico to win the whole competition.
In today’s paper I had read that a man was convicted for 14 years in prison of taking part in man slaughtering with two teenagers in southeastern San Diego more than two years ago. Anthony Louis torian,23, pleaded guilty to two counts of voluntary manslaughter in the deaths of Brandon Hammond and Marcelles Mcelvaine, both 19 years of age. The victims were shot dec. 6 2006 in a cul-de-sac in bay terraces. But supreme court said that torian and deshawn broadnax were gang members. And the shooting on deep dell court were retaliation for another killing a day earlier. Deputy attorney said that the two victims were not involved in gangs and there was not evidence they had anything to do with it. Prosecutors said that torian was the getaway driver and testified broadnax. In December a jury found broadnax guilty and two counts of first degree murder and other charges. He was sentenced to life in prison with out possibility of parole.
In today’s newspaper article I read about a 17 year old German teenager named Tim Kretschmer that committed a tragic crime. Tim bursted into the classrooms of his former high school with a 9mm and started to gun down students. Its like this teen transformed into a monster. Some believe his main target was females because eight of nine students he shot down were girls plus he killed three female teachers. Tim was dressed in all black leaving seven students wounded. Then after he finished shooting down the school he ran into downtown. A town of 28,000 people. Where he shot two other people walking past a psychiatric clinic. Killing one and wounding the other. He then hijacked a person an forced the driver to go but at a police checkpoint the driver swerved and managed to escape. The teen fled from the car into an industrial area where he shot at the cops. The cops then hit him with a hot one wounding him. Then he flees and cops find him dead with a hole in his head.
